Requesting Comic Book Staff People

I know this is more like an off topic thread but this concerns Batman, so please listen and hear me out.


thebatman226, another buddy not participating on these forums and myself(Warren, hello) are creating a fan fiction Batman series. I'm not going to release anything from the story line because we want to keep it tightly underwraps but we feel that we can do this next to the game to give players and people waiting something to do in their free time besides complain about the game(ohh, I'm gonna get it for that one) and posting 'When is this demo going to be out'. We are doing this more for fun, no money intended, we are young and aspiring writers/illustrators/etc wanting to make comic books for fun. We aren't treading on anyone's feet here. So we are requesting people to participate in a Batman series with us as staff. Contact us through PM if you are interested. The sooner we can get people on to our staff the sooner we can put out these comics for you guys. All I can say about it right now is it is like a webcomic(average lenght about 12-15 pages, average comic book is 22) and I've planned out anywhere from 10-25 issues or more that we can post. This will most likely be a monthly thing due to the time. So here are the below requirements...


Comic Book Letterer - We need someone experienced in putting the words, the sounds and the narration on the pages for the art. Giving it their own style given from the writing. They must have experience and have atleast one picture showing off their skills in this area.


Colorist - We need someone with great talent that is willing to really explode the images off the panels. We are going to have some very capturing landscape scenes as well as some very violent and brutal action sequences. It's going to be challenging but should really show off your talent in this area. If interested you will need to provide a colored art that you have done showing off your talent. You don't have to draw the picture yourself but you will have to color it.



More requirements(We aren't a Nazi camp so these aren't strict)

- Must have an AIM or MSN account to communicate with the other staff members.
- Must be willing to participate in discussions and engage in brainstorming.
- Limited slacking, the hope is that we can hammer out one of these a month, maybe two and slacking will really pull this back.
- Try your very best no matter what.
- Have fun, this is all about fun, we want to do this to celebrate our favorite superhero ever. Stressing and getting depressed and annoyed over stupid stuff isn't what this is about. This is about showing talent and entertaining people at the same time.




The reason writing and illustrating has not been taking up is because those spots are filled. We might be willing to bring on another person who is interested in sharing ideas and participating. Might.

Yeah, being the colorist means you are going to have to do a little less than the pencilist. Instead of designing everything you are going to have to make everything uniquely vibrant and jump out of the comics. From what I've seen I believe you can do that. It's going to call for a lot of work but since I have created 4-5 panel pages ranging at most 15 pages, you will be able to finish the work in about a weeks time.


Also, to anyone who is keeping count the script for the first issue is finished. I'm awaiting check in's from my consultant before being shipped over to batman. So, I'm giving everyone till Wednesday afternoon(might be adjusted) before we pick.

Add DC to your myspace. Every once in awhile they have a convention and plenty of opportunities for you to submit your work in the hopes of getting your own series. If I remember it right though, you can't use existing characters in the DCU. If you're unable to actually go to the conventions, you can always submit entries online. Only reason I know of that is they send me bulletins every once in awhile, but my comic is still in secret production..... Crud! Said to much. *Runs off*

I would be very interested in getting you to critique on our work. You might be in a bad spot seeing as we are making our own storyline thats going a completely seperate path. You could be a good judge of character, of course. But we are basically just create....SPOILERS....a new character. But I'm trying to create the Batman we know and love as well as other characters throughout the story. I'm going to put you down on the list as critic. ;)

That's the plan. The biggest problem thus far is peoples available time our drawer is in Australia, I'm in the USA and some other people are spread around Europe and England. So it's challenging...



I have no official release date for the first issue. All I can tell you now is that it's under review from my consultant as soon as that is done its sent to Batman who then sends it to our new colorist(still up in the air). But thanks for being patient, we will make our decesions later tomorrow probably.

The story arc is 15 comics. The hope and it will be one gigantic graphic novel, sorta.

The plan is if the team acts well together and we can respect each others opinions we will continue. From what I'm hearing from my consultants they like what I have built out of the story, its not without flaws(those we are working out now). So hopefully within a few days we can punch out a summary and a release date for you folks.

I think I've held off you guys long enough from releasing some spoilers to keep you guys updated. Now I'm just going to send off the name(well that's not how it's going to work) you guys are going to have to figure it out. Pictures will be unveiling within the week. I look forward to your guys opinion on the name. After you have discovered the name, I will tell you our meaning behind it.

Alright guys, I got some news. My consultant came back and realized I had a noticeable flaw(we both agreed that it would be better to change it). Looks like I slipped up a bit so things might get pushed back a little to adjust things. Nothing big just a minor thing that effects the issue lenght. Nothing of real concerning value.

We still plan on annoucing the new staff members tomorrow.

Thats the point. I'm wanting everyone to get to realize something amazing, for free right in front of our eyes. I'm just hoping everybody puts in the effort like the individuals working are doing. It's a lot of work but it's going to be worth it.

Heck, I've been wanting to do a grittier, more realistic reboot of the DCU for awhile now, without any Superman or Green Lantern or anyone like that, but #1, I'm not a good artist any more, not at least since I quit drawing stuff around 6 years ago, and #2, I've also wanted to focus more on my original IPs rather than a fanfic.

Buuuut, if I have some time, I might be interested in writing something, or at least giving out suggestions or something. Don't know if you'd want me on your team or not though, but I'd definitely be willing to give it a go if you could use another writer.

One question though, because either my memory is poor or I haven't read all of this thread: these issues, will they be interconnected into some sort of canon, or will they be standalone?

Wait, a second question: how would you include me in an issue? I mean, you don't know my real name, don't have any reference material to illustrate me from, etc. Just wondering. XD And also thanks for including me in the first place for succeeding in solving your little riddle, and also also kudos on coming up with the name Shin Satsu, I really like it.

Right now we have pretty much picked our picks so far and we will be annoucing them. Don't get stressed about it we need more people reading and reviewing our work than anything.

First question, This is a standalone comic that will basically just be carrying character canon and thats about it. We just wanted a fresh story that wasn't connected to anything.

Second question, I was going to private message you for your name that way I could create a character based off you(doesn't have to look at you) it will be a minor character probably but a character at that. We will also put a little added note to you in our done by section.


Yeah, the original name we created wasn't working right. It wasn't the right kind of mystery and suspense we were wanting to capture. Shin Satsu is rather interesting and when you here 'To Die Killing' you really don't want to mess with someone named that.




Also, I got some huge spoilers in the later part of the story arc that some of you guys are going to be extra excited about.

Oh and pretty cover, the red looks abit bland tho, i might have preferred a brighter red but thats just me. :P :)

And the sizing is a bit off, the Coming soon should be smaller in comparison to the title

On behalf of TimelessUnknown, we thank you for the compliment. This however, if you would have read the directions is an ad for the first issue, not an actual cover for our first issue.


The red is just fine in my opinion, symbolizes the dark elements we are aiming for as well as death.
