GEEZ!! I'd already installed the game and it worked out perfectly, but the problem is when I double-click the icon to run the game, it tells me: Fatal error: Direct3D: Unable to create device. Try changing resoultion or color depth .

I have:

OP: Win ME
Processor: Intel Pentium III, ~1100MHz
Memory: 382 MB Ram
Device: Intel(r) 82810E Graphics Controler
Aprox. Total Memory: 6.5 MB
Sound: SB live! Wave device

If you guys have any questions feel free to ask? I really wanna get this game going. Thanks for your time.

Pfew, thought that I was the only one with the game not working. After years of playing tombraider and awaiting the AOD I bought Hitman 2.

The graphics are beautiful and gameplay is stunning but also my game crashes in a few minutes. Sometimes in a second and another time 20 minutes. The game locks up and only a reboot of my PC gets me back. I do not mind a crash but waiting 2 minutes each time for my PC to start up is annoying. I tried everything already with the new .exe file, sounddrivers, direct X, hardwaremode etc.

I have a soundblaster live 1024. Seems to be the problem also with the latest drivers. I could buy a new soundcard but I dont want to throw my money over the counter. I expect no solution over here but Eidos should know what's going on with so many complaints!

Piega.

Although your card is EAX compliant, you might want to consider turning of eax sound in the hitman2.ini file.

Its somewhere near the bottom of the file. look for a line that mentions EAXsound 1 or something similar (i cant remember what it says exactly but i know its there) change the 1 on the line to a 0 ( zero ) and save the file. It may help.

You may also want to consider what apps you have running in the background as the game is running on your system and not crashing on startup. It sounds like a background application is screwing up the game. This one is the golden rule that I've applied to fix a hell of a lot of in-game-crashes. The usual suspects are Virus checkers, realtime monitors and a couple of other useless apps that people never disable.

My only other suggestion is, go back to creative labs and see if they have any other drivers for your card as the new ones may be causing problems.

good luck.

Thanks for the tips. I already disable the virus and firewall and other programs running. Soundcard was updated as well. If have not updated my via drivers yet so I try this...:)
