View Full Version : Why doesn't Batman's Cape cover his whole body?

I loved the way batman's cape covered his front and back like in the comics. I wish they couud implement that in the movies and in this game. You know, like if he's standing still for a while, his cape could drape over him like Dracula. It was always cool to see him like that in the comics. I know this is more of a personal preference, but what do you guys think?

There needs to be a thread for this? The cape covers enough of him, and it still makes him menacing looking.

I always thought that was cool, hopefully they have thought of that and it was common in BTAS, and The Batman especially when looking for clues.

The answer is easy. Go to the screenshot thread and you'll see he has the cape swept back over his shoulders so he can fight swarms of goons. Or else he'd be tripping over that thing. And he does cover himself with the cape in Batman Begins. Not a big deal really.

Yeah, it looks like they have to have it not come in fully so it can be at a default stage during fighting, but it would have been nice to have it sweep over him when he isn't fighting, or more specifically, when he's hiding. If they can't implement this for the reason that you can only ask for so much realism, then I am fine with it. I agree, though, it's part of Batman, pulling it over him when he really wants to show up like a shadow. I mentioned this earlier in one of the suggestion threads, I think.
And when hanging upside down, it dows drape over his arms, at least, but it can't fully cover him, so, that's cool enough.

Well it's again another personal choice. I also think its more practical for it to be shorter. I mean seriously how the hell do you fight crime in a bedsheet. The length and width of the cape is acceptable for menacing, terror and fighting crime. Thats all that matters. Move on.

That's one of the only things I loved about The Batman. He looks really cool when the cape drapes over his entire body.
But oh well...

There are bits in the game when Batman does silent take downs where he grabs a thug and his cape goes around both of them is looks cool, a bit like a vampire.

Richard Pryor Love that guy... But seriously when you do the take down hanging form the ledge, where grapple hang comes into play the cape covers the whole body and the villan when stringing him up. Also when you stealth a bad guy ther eis a spray you mace in their face and the cape wraps around...

While it may look very cool for Batman's cape to drape over his body (this is why I liked "The Batman" too), I don't think it would be completely necessary, it looks fantastic as is. Besides, I'd imagine such a thing would be a nightmare to program to move in realtime.

When I said that I want his cape to cover his body, I only meant in points where he's standing still for a while or hovering on top of a gargoyle. Not in direct combat.

I guess it is a good compromise though. But still, I'd love to come out of the shadows with the entire cape covered over his whole body and scare the crap out of the bad guys. Oh, well. Whata-ya-gonna-do?

I know that Robins cape is indestrutible but i'm not sure about Batmans cape maybe thats why it's wrap around his body.

I mean, just when he's standing still for 5 seconds or more would be nice. I'm just saying.

Exactly, which is why I doubt it will finally be put in. But, you never know.

Of course, me as well. However, maybe when the future comes round and we have totally malleable rendered things just the same as in real life. Ha, it's a long, hard road to that, though.
