View Full Version : How Would You Do It?

If you had the opportunity to reboot the Batman movie franchise and redo it your own way what would you do? What would the synopsis be? What characters would you use?
Personally I would try and blend Nolan's hyper-realism with the traditional sensationalism to produce a good balance. Not to much sensationalism just enough to achieve a point. For example I'm really fond of Nolan's portraying of the Joker, however, I would also like to use more sensational characters such as Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Clayface, Killer Croc etc.
It would also have very dark overtones.
It would also probably be similar in style to Batman Begins, the first half being about a Falcone esque character and the second half being about characters like the Joker. I would also probably try and include some unfamiliar characters along with the familiar like Mr. Zsasz for example.
What about you guys?

Dark and gothic, both realistic and totally out there like I love the realism to Nolan's Joker but I also love Burton's version of the Penguin so mine would be a mix of the two. I'd also like to show each villains origin to show who they where and what changed them then people feel more for the villains and it gives them a bigger impact.

To be honest, if I were to reboot the Batman series I would do it not through films, but through a TV series like on HBO or something. The main focus would be the villains and how they affect Batman, we get to see a bit of that in the movies but we never dig very deep in the psychological trauma they seem to cause Bruce.
In terms of how I would pull it off, I would definitely go with a real look but I will also create it around a city like Burton's instead of plain old Chicago. It'll be the mix of Burton's and Nolan's world. Also, NO villain will be off limits with me. If I wanted to, I'd use them all.

I've always thought that a modern, dark, gritty Batman series would do really well on television. If not live action then maybe something in the animation styles that were used in Gotham Knight.

I would just really like to see a good Batman series that is deeply rooted in the comics lore with plenty of fan references that is exceptionally dark and gritty and would deal with just as dark issues like pedophilia, cannibalism, drugs, prostitution. Real life is pretty sick and I think it would be pretty interesting to see a Batman series that reflected that.

yeah, and we could see what batman could really do i.e.turn a muggers face into mush.

see it from the villains perspective, too.for example,we see as zsasz kills a family, and then we want batman to take him down that much more.

I agree. It would be a really good opportunity to delve into and explore the psychology of Batman's foes.

They were gonna have a Graysons show, which was about **** in pre-Robin, but it got canceled recently. It was like a Smallville and on CW.
Another TV series that was darker would be awesome. Even as an anime like someone else had suggested or being 26 episodes.

People will hate me for this, but
I'd keep it almost EXACTLY like Nolan's, but with a few changes.
- A better martial arts choreographer. Preferably the guy who works with Tony Jaa.
- CGI Ledger to bring him and his voice back for the role of The Joker. He wouldn't be a main antagonist but he'd be important. Kind of like Hannibal Lecter in Silence Of The Lambs
- Show a bit more of the detective side of Batman, like CSI.
- Try to get away with more blood/drugs/language/sexual references/etc. while keeping it in the PG-13 zone (not without sacrificing any plot for it of course)
- Adapt some more of those really good Batman stories (Batman: Hush, Batman: Face The Face, The Dark Knight Returns, No Man's Land, etc.)
- Have Hush and Bane as villains
- Have Mr. Freeze and/or Poison Ivy in the fourth movie (I'd want them to be like how they are in Batman: The Animated Series, only darker. Not cheesy like in B&R)
- Bring back Two-Face
- Make just a tiny bit more of the plot focus on the crime aspect
- At least one Batman film that's three hours long
- I know this is impossible, but I'd love a crossover between Batman and Spider-Man. Joker and Dr. Octopus would be main antagonists.
Yeah. I'd be a crappy filmmaker.

I'd go as far as to make Batman the arrogant, sadistic bastard he is in recent interpretations.

I would do The Dark Knight Returns as the next step
