Now whats the story about? Well heres a short synopis
Lex Luthor the president of America (yeah, he was a president in the comics haha!) declared Superman & Batman as public enemies, as there is an Kryptonite asteroid heading to earth, he claims its the "evil Superman whos planning this" and sets a 1 billion dollar bounty on Superman & Batman. This is based on a Jeph Loeb (Batman: The Long Halloween & Dark Victory writer) and Ed Guinness artist visuals, here is a screencap of the following video (Not taken by me, as i couldn't see it):

September 29 is the official release date for Superman|Batman: Public Enemies!
Kevin Conroy will again reprise his role as Batman, Tim Daly as Superman and Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor... all the origin voice actors for the 90's DC animated series...
Yep this movie will be awesome. Tim Daly has the Superman voice as much as Conroy has Batman and Clancy Brown has Lex Luthor.
2-special disc bonuses include these:
Featurettes
· The Blackest Night: Inside the DC Comics Event: Behind-the-scenes of BLACKEST NIGHT, the epic DC Super Hero event in which the dead shall rise.
· A Test of Minds: Superman and Batman featurette with Jeph Loeb, giving viewers a fresh and revitalized look at the team-up of Superman and Batman working together despite their often competitive and challenging relationship.
· “Dinner with DC: With Special Guest Kevin Conroy”: Reprising his role from Batman: The Animated Series, Kevin Conroy joins the crew for dinner to discuss their creative approach and what the Superman/Batman team-up means. The evening will be hosted by Voice Director Andrea Romano, Producer Bruce Timm and DC’s Gregory Noveck

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies Blu-Ray versions will have more than three-and-a-half hours of bonus materials, including all the great extras from the 2-disc Special Edition as well as two additional episodes of Justice League Unlimited and two episodes from Justice League, both personally selected by fan-favorite Bruce Timm.
“Warner Premiere is excited to continue this successful partnership with DC Comics, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Home Video to present feature-length PG-13 animated original films with the filmmaking and celebrity voice starpower of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies,” said Matt Bierman, Senior Vice President Production, Warner Premiere.
“Based on the past success of Superman Doomsday and Batman Gotham Knight, we know the pairing of the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight – pitted against both their DC Super Hero colleagues and the entire rogue’s gallery of DC villains – will offer fans the level of entertainment normally reserved for the big, summer blockbuster films,” said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President of Family, Animation & Partner Brands.
“This is the ultimate film for DC animation lovers featuring not only the cornerstone characters of comic book and Saturday morning heroes, but also returns the seminal voices of those characters – Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy and Clancy Brown – in a story that explores the Superman/Batman dynamic and allows Lex Luthor to shine in ultimate villainy,” said Gregory Noveck, Senior VP Creative Affairs, DC Comics.

I hope its the same guys from the TAS. I absolutely _loved_ Lex Luthor's voice, he had charm, he had malice, he was just.... awesome, almost as awesome as Xanatos from the Gargoyles.
But yeah this movie is like an awesome action popcorn flick, the story isn't anything shakespeare but its a movie about Batman & Superman kicking ass!

Damn! I don't want to see Batman teaming up with Superham! Give us another dark mature Batman cartoon (or even better anime, more Japanese Batman please) instead of this kiddie Batman nonsense! By all means let the kids have Superham (the man who has everything, but just because you have all the powers in the world does not make you a good character boy scout) but Batman really shouldn't be for children, half the stuff he deals with I'm sure would give them nightmares hehe.

Sorry, he's too colourful, too goody goody, too black and white and he doesn't really have any memorable bad guys like Batman, I can't say I know any other Superham bad guys other than Lex and Doomsday. But I don't like Batman and Superman together leave the dark knight flying solo I say (save for Gordan).
But yeah Hugo I'd love to see more of The Joker at his full psychotic best, not being held back by what they can and can't do. Like bludgening Robin half to death with a metal pipe and then blowing him up (not that I want him (Robin) in it either but an example), crippling Barbra by shooting her in chest and have the bullet sevor her spine (again another example). The Arkham Asylum Apirl fool about the guy's wife and child, or slaming some guys faces into the tip of a pencil and then have Batman beat him into a bloody half dead mess and we can have good step in and stop him at the last minute like in Hush
"The guy goes into the hospital, okay? His wife's just had a baby and he can't wait to see them both. So he meets the doctor and he says, 'Oh, Doc, I've been so worried. How are they?' And the doctor smiles and says, 'They're fine. Just fine. Your wife's delivered a healthy baby boy and they're both in tip-top form. You're one lucky guy.' So the guy rushes into the maternity ward with his flowers. But it's empty. His wife's bed is empty. 'Doc?' He says and turns around and the doctor and all the nurses wave their arms and scream in his face. 'April fool! Your wife's dead and the baby's a spastic!!'" (he executes an asylum orderly with a gunshot to the head) "Get it? Oh, what a senseless waste of human life!" - Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth
I want it be such away we can get away with have The Joker like that, not dumbed down for "them"! lol

You do realize that Superman and Batman team up and cooperate with each other all the time? You also realize that this movie will be PG-13, the same rating as Batman: Gotham Knight that you are referring to? And apparantly you don't understand Superman at all.

I know Pen but I prefer not to see it lol.
But what about this? To quote Xbox World 360, "Batman is a mortal who stands among Gods", even without superpowers he can still hold his own against the JLA and any of the monsters they fight, not take away Superman (or any of the other JLA members for that matter) powers and could they match what Batman can do without any powers? Probably not.

Exactly the opposite of methods and characters is what makes these team-ups interesting. A Nightwing/Batman team-up is boring.

@Pen_Dragon: Yeah way too few people here understand Superman to be honest.
And how can you call this kiddie stuff?! Its pg-13 with Batman & Superman fightning againts mass amount of criminals and whatnot, not to mention explosions and whatnot! :D Superman and Batman teaming up is cool, theres been plenty of Superman TAS Where Batman was, and they had an incredible synergy together in the JLU serie. Don't weep just because it has Superman in it, just wait and see the awesomeness.

Looks cool...I don't like Supes as much either but, oh well. The Hulk VS. movie was PG-13 because it had some blood but was really unnecessary. Made me feel kinda' strange actually because you don't expect to see that kind of animation with blood.
Also, graphic novels are different because it's usually one individual's idea of Batman. TAS was not always as dark as you all imagine (go watch some episodes again...) still was one of the best interpretations.
I just don't get why everyone wants some kind of R rated Batman all of a sudden. There are several versions of the stories and one of them is bound to fit your tastes.

Just because you don't like Batman with other character's shouldn't mean you can judge this movie by that, i mean have you even read the comic the movie is based off? If not you should just wait for release with no exceptitions.

I love this comic, and I hope they put every scene they can in the movie. The scenes with Metallo, with the JSA, the Batclan and Superclan storming the white house (hey, maybe Cassandra Cain will have her out of comics debut), etc
I think, though, that a problem would be that there are many characters important to the plot that a lot of people who don't read the comics might not be too familiar with... Oh well, doesn't really matter. If you don't know about a character, then the best thing to do is just to look them up and find out more about them.

Because he is a god among men, who is ultimately immortal, where as the people he loves and grows up with will die and leave him behind. It's not the fact that he has unlimited powers, it's the fact that he uses his powers for good instead of conquering the world and the universe. If Superman really wanted to, he could enslave the entire planet and have them bow down before them, but he doesn't, he is humble and wants to help the people in need. Only a true hero would put the people first. It takes a true villain who wants all the powers of Superman for corruption and evil. That's why I like him. He's more human than you think, because he wants to be human, but knows he has a duty to protect the world.

It's because Superman is the iconic superhero to end all superheroes. He's the legendary do-gooder stereotype that all other comic book heroes measure up to.
I don't find him that interesting myself but due to his well-known status among practically everyone (comic book fans or not), he deserves a little respect.
And I happen to like Superman, anyway...but not quite as much as Batman :D

However, I do like what GoranAgar said, these two characters are essentially polar opposites and their partnership is interesting, even for me (I REALLY don't like Superman). I disagree with the Nightwing/Batman thing though, I like that team-up too =)
Though, Batman solo is the best imo.

I'm honestly a little more than disturbed by this forum's hate of Superman. Are you all (the ones that do) so brooding and spiteful at anything representing a positive that you have to hate it outright? That's like someone coming along tomorrow with super powers and destroying all of the weapons of war on Earth and the whole world calling him a bastard for it. Maybe it's me, but that makes absolutely no sense. You can't appreciate that people out there, who aren't jaded to the point they think people have to be dark and menacing and bend the rules to get their way because that's the crappy way the world is, actually want to believe in a better way and get inspired by seeing a character that, despite all else against him, rises above and is that force of good still? Oh well. I love Batman, love "dark" stuff too, but damn... I also like to see the good guy be the good guy. I think this world is really, really becoming dangerously pessimistic and jaded. It's the same thing in the crappy Superman Returns. Singer makes Superman into a liar by leaving the world for 5 years, then has Lois and everyone hating him, jaded at his good intentions for the entire film... That, and bringing Superman to his knees by regular thugs and Luther, stabbing him in the back. What a terrible movie, but apparently, that's what you all here would love to see happen to him.
Makes me a bit sad, really.
But, anyway, the trailer looked fantastic! I enjoyed the Doomsday one, but that was woefully simplistic compared to the great graphic novel it was based on. Hopefully, this will remain more true to its. I love the detail in the characters. That's something that's been a bit missing in the other cartoon series and even the animated movies.

Say what you will about Superman Returns, it captured Superman's inner character perfectly. He wants to be human, but he cant, he loves Lois but she found someone else while he was away. He's struggling to cope with sharing her with someone else. I liked the movie despite what most would say.

My lack of love towards Superman has very little to do with his overall positive outlook on life.
I find him uninteresting because he seems to rarely use his abilities to their fullest potential, especially his animated incarnations. In the Batman/Superman comics, he let Kara/Supergirl get killed by Darkseid when he could've banished Darkseid to...that place (don't remember the name; it was a giant wall at the edge of space or something), but he didn't until after he killed Kara.
Bad things seem to only happen with Batman when they are beyond his control. He's resourceful and understandable. He's also merely human which makes him easier to relate to; most of the time I'm more concerned with getting hit by traffic than what ever Supes is concerned with.

Say what you will about Superman Returns, it captured Superman's inner character perfectly. He wants to be human, but he cant, he loves Lois but she found someone else while he was away. He's struggling to cope with sharing her with someone else. I liked the movie despite what most would say.
well im usually a really really big superman hater but I have to admit that Smallville is actually pretty damn cool

Ok, for one, you can't really go by the animated shows. The creators did weaken him a little. Secondly, did you actually read that comic, or just look at the pictures? If you had read it after that, she appears again in the same story, so Darkseid did not kill her. She also has her own ongoing monthly series.
Drazar
05-20-2009, 12:28 AM
Yeah it was a good decision in the Superman TAS to weaken him alot. I loved the last episode where Darkseid mindcontrols Superman into corruption and when Superman snaps out of it, beats him up and allows his slaves to finish him off, they instead help out Darkseid and he says: Ah Kal-el, i am many things, but here, i am GOD.

That's not so much a power suit, more of a protection suit. And if he needed a Megazord like that, then there must be one huge chunk of Kryptonite out there.

Perfectly describes how I feel.
Just because I hate Superman doesn't make me a pessimist.

Story synopis (by my own words):
Now whats the story about? Well heres a short synopis
Lex Luthor the president of America (yeah, he was a president in the comics haha!) declared Superman & Batman as public enemies, as there is an Kryptonite asteroid heading to earth, he claims its the "evil Superman whos planning this" and sets a 1 billion dollar bounty on Superman & Batman. This is based on a Jeph Loeb (Batman: The Long Halloween & Dark Victory writer) and Ed Guinness artist visuals.

You should accept the fact Batman is the tactical one while Superman provides the muscule, speed and might. =p Atleast they got their Super-Bat-Robot. =D I mean really a villain of Justice League level is MORE afraid of Superman when it comes to battles, but its always Batman whos the bad cop which is something they also fear.

Two Episodes of Justice League Unlimited hand-picked by animation legend Bruce Timm

The 6 issue comic this based off had pretty decent writing, it has over the top moments but the way Batman and Superman fight together was really awesome, but one of the crowning moments is the dual thinking you saw going on. Really their friendship brings the crowning moments to the book and hopefully to the film aswell with such great voice actors in it.

Me neither.I love Batman, but Superman is THE definitive superhero. He gives hope,he stands by his beliefs, and he has a line which he will not cross under any circumstances.Batman is more along the lines of a pulp hero like the phantom or Doc Savage.

Personally, I'm bored of the grim, gritty, pessimistic attitude people have towards heroes. They won't even accept Batman unless he's wearing space-age battle armour.
I miss the days of rock-solid heroism. :(

Atleast we got Batman: The Brave and the Bold. :D Not to mention this movie (i read the book) will be an actionfest, the story itself is more of an excuse to get the combat going. =D

Hope this one turns out okay. I'll rent it first.
The Wonder Woman and Green Lantern animated films weren't that good. Especially the Green Lantern one...
What we need is an actually good origin film about Green Arrow or perhaps The Flash. No cheesy dialogue or predictable moments. Good, pure storytelling without too many gimmicks.
We already have Batman and Superman oozing out of our pores, for goodness' sake...

This is slightly off topic, but it has to do with the oversaturation of Batman and Superman so...
In Justice League Unlimited, there were a couple episodes focusing on Huntress, Green Arrow, Black Canary and The Question (one of my fave characters in the DCAU). I heard a rumor that the chemistry was so good with these characters that Bruce Timm was considering a spin-off, but it never happened.
God, I wish it had happened. :(

There will always be more movies. Thankfully this one doesn't have Superman looking ugly like in Doomsday. He looks much better and the drawings/coloring look way more fluid. No yucky dark black lines.

I didn't hear about that but that would have been brilliant, i thought that those episodes of justice league (when they focused on other characters) were great...
Still, i can't wait for this film! I quite enjoyed the wonder woman one, haven't seen the green lantern one yet.

I hate it when they make Superman look like he is about to die (pun intended)

I know Pen but I prefer not to see it lol.
But what about this? To quote Xbox World 360, "Batman is a mortal who stands among Gods", even without superpowers he can still hold his own against the JLA and any of the monsters they fight, not take away Superman (or any of the other JLA members for that matter) powers and could they match what Batman can do without any powers? Probably not.
Yep.
There's a great episode of the Justice League where all the powered heroes get kidnapped leaving only Bats and Green Arrow (the 2 "mortals")
Turns out the powered heroes were captured and drained of their powers.
Guess who has to save their hides and whups a bunch of league powered copycat robots?
Yeah, the Bat could take them all.
It also showed in that episode that Bats had in fact already designed and built weapons specifically designed to take down the powered league members.
'Cause Batman thinks of everything.

As do I. I think the art looks a bit sterile, though that's true for pretty much any big budget animation nowadays.

I had mostly been ignorant of this movie until I spotted a commercial for it and realized it covered the six issue arc that started Superman/Batman back in 2003. The entire story has a TON of combat and I'm really looking forward to seeing Supes and Batman bust some serious heads and hopefully their respective families too.

I think the art style lends somewhat poorly to animation. With so many lines to keep track of it can get distracting if even one is off.

I just downloaded and watch this 66 minute piece of crap.
It grabs its storyline from the Superman Batman comics from issue 1-6 and takes a few liberties with it's canon, but is just not that good.
A few of the lines from the comics are in there, but where the movie takes its liberties is where the comics have the coolest storyline.
The only thing I liked about it was how Batman always had an answer for everything the Metahumans threw at him.
