Ok, so we have heard and seen alot about this game now. What are your impressions of the game and what rating would you give from the stuff youve seen. What are your strong points and bad points of the game.

I think the game is shaping up to be one of the best games of the year. Everything is looking great from all the trailers, screenshots and demos i have seen & all the previews i have read.
I think a strong point is the dark and gritty look of Arkham it looks ever so realistic aand scary. One weak point i seem to worry about at the moment is the Bane boss battle after PSM3 pointed out that was the only bad point for the game.

Rating: 8/10

It looks really good and I just don't understand why there's no demo by now. You would think that Eidos would want to increase possible sales by putting this up for download for people who are still skeptical about this game. It looks done to me. It's getting really good scores and reviews. It just boggles my mind that they wont release a demo.

9/10 as of this point

I'm going with a nine, just because I couldn't give a ten from not playing it.

I'll say 7, I'm worried about the game being:
Short
Repetitive
Crap at boss fights

Aye, I remember that, but Zsasz is apparently reduced to little more than a tutorial, can't argue with that. But Bane is supposed to be very arcade-y.

yea, apperantly just a "bane runs into a wall and stuns himself then you strike him" kind of fight, thats fine with me though. not every boss is going to please everyone.

i do think the joker will take the titan venom though.

8/10. these are the things that worry me:

combo moves might have long combinations of buttons
short game
not being able to free roam after you beat the game
puzzles might get too confusing
moves repeative

About the combos having long combinations there is only one button for striking. No difficult/long button combos.
The game is 15 hours long unless you are a developer
You have the Detective mode to help you with the puzzles. I bet someone will list all the solutions eventually if you are still stuck.

this game looks amazing and every tid bit of video makes it all that much better. i mean the graphics are amazing, riddles are suppose to be challenging, im gonna play it again and again so i don't care how short it is, combat is easy and addicting. and i just got to play the demo at my local best buy and it was mind boggling :lmao:. i mean i know its just the combat portion of the game but all the tricks you could do and just how fun it was to watch batman kick some classy  was so much fun.

8/10, it looks really good, but I'm worried that they're putting too many villains just for the sake of having a bunch of villains. Ra's al Gul, Catwoman, Penguin, and Hush don't really belong in Arkham, and maybe should've been saved for a sequel or something.

I'll give it an 7.8. For now anyway. It seems really interesting and all the gameplay vids are definitely worth my attention, but all in all I'm a sucker for a story based game and so far I haven't seen much of the plot. Don't get me wrong, I don't want it spoiled by people who've read the comic the game was based on (You wouldn't believe how many times I've ducked those posts on this forum. It's like walking past a field of landmines). Great gameplay is cool, but a great story is what makes me play through the entire game. Gameplay just helps me play through the story again. That and lots of alternate costumes (cough, cough). AC's keep me cool for a lot longer and there's less of a chance of me selling it for the next big thing.

I give this game right now a 9/10. The only reason it didn't get a 10-10 is because I havn't seen everything this game has to offer like boss fights, if the game gets repetitive, length of the game, etc.

Definately looking like an excellent game though, I am excited for whatever the release date is :D

10/10 graphics
10/10 voice acting
10/10 storyline
10/10 gameplay

This game won't lett me down, no way, this will be one of the best games ever which achieved a maximum score.

I won't give the game any rating as of yet, based on my principles. I will say I was very impressed with the demo I played at Target the other day. The graphics were good, aside from the fact their kiosk televisions look like crap. I loved the gameplay, but it was a bit confusing and difficult to get into at first. A minute or two in and it was completely natural, though.

I'd give the store kiosk demo a 9/10 on what I played. I predict myself giving this game at least a 9 as well; 10 might seem a bit far-fetched because I don't think any game is perfect. Then again, after initially playing the demo and for weeks after that, I "shouted" at my gaming buddies on Zentendo that it was absolutely perfect, so it's quite possible for me to give it a 10/10. Probably a 9.8/10 is more likely from me, though.

i would have put 9 but after seeing the video of the tour at rocksteady....and teh guy said there is 1 guy and his whole job is the cape....I never complained about the clipping before, but that is 1 guys job!? I would replace that guy so we could make this game, game of the year........

Be happy that they are spending time at little details. I mean it's darn good that they give each person a task to complete, even if it is a little thing like a cape.

I've given it a 9 based on what I've seen so far. The thing about this game is, it's awesome regardless of whether Batman was in it or not. Like Sefton Hill has said many times, they've tried to create an awesome game, then put Batman in it.

I hope it won't be a disaster like LOTR: Conquest.

They all hyped us up, telling how great it would be, showing amazing vids and information.
But in the end the product sucked soo hard that I never played it again since the day I bought it, and completed it the same day.

Voted a 9.

Good:
- Graphics are really good, character models are great.

- Voice acting

- Various villians in various roles ( most superhero games i know have you against 3-4 badguys the whole game )

- Not pulling punches, the violence isnt dumbed down, this game was made for people 16 and up. Often superhero games will dumb down ( Ie, Spiderman games ) to acomidate for kids, not this one.

- Sandbox style, none of that, fight your way down the long hallway crap.

- It just plain looks fun

What im worried about:

- I hope that not all the rooms will look the same, i hope that not all the rooms in the whole prison arnt the exact same design.

- AI, yes ive read a lot of posts talking about how confident people are in the AI, i just have a few SMALL worries about it. But im 95% confident.

- Wolverine: Origins syndrome: This is something i named which pretends to a movie, game, or other form of entertainment that includes characters for no reason other than to say that they are in it. I want as many of the characters to have value to the story, not like Origins where most of the superheroes serve no porpose.

- And the #1 issue with me, and really the only one that im worried about. Boss fights. The one preview said that the only weak point was the Bane fight, and from the brief part of the Croc fight ive seen, it seems that some of the boss fights might just come down to dodge the attack and hit them when their stunned. Again im very confident that this wont be an issue, its just kinda got me a little bit concerned.

I give it an j8/10 (-2) just based on the fact that I think the gadget selection may turn out slim regardless of upgrades and the fact that we don't know how far the detective and puzzle solving elements go. I undertsand their stance, but it still doesn't help the fact that to protect everything on the story, they've almost only showed the brawling side to the game. I understand the combat system is their pride and joy but there are other sides to Batman, and as much they swear they're fans, I'm just not seeing it.

On the gadget side of things, unlimited items is fine, but the allure of the utility belt has always been an endless supply of gadgets for every situation. Not infinite amounts of 8 different gadgets. I'd like to have as many DIFFERENT gadgets as possible and not just leveling up to throw more batarangs at a time or grapple farther while being able to pull items and enemies. Read the Batman encyclopedia for a list of all the crazy gadgets he's had over the years, hell make up your own, it's a fictional character for God's sake. All I'm saying is I'd like to feel like Batman in more ways than 7,000 different ways to hit a guy and grapple around.

Make me use my brain damn it. Give me 50 totally different gadgets that all do totally different things and make me have to figure out which is best for what situation, what puzzle, what boss.

I'm the goddamn Batman!! Let me feel like it!! If in the end they succeed, they may get a 10 from me, but right now, this is how I feel.

What rating would you give for this game so far?

So far I believe Rocksteady has done their homework and made these right decisions:
- Nothing to do with a movie
- Arkham Asylum as the setting
- Outstanding graphics
- Classic voice acting
- Stealth and gadgets
- No multiplayer
- Extra content to increase replay value (challenge rooms, riddles, etc.)
- Delayed release for tweaking
- Dark and scary while still keeping a Teen rating

"When we first started working on Batman: Arkham Asylum and began thinking about what we wanted to achieve with the game it came down to two essential goals. We wanted to create something that was truly authentic to the franchise, but also something really fun." Sefton Hill - Game Director - Rocksteady Studios

I feel this has been a project that Rocksteady has committed itself to entirely. Of course they have budgets, hardware/software limitations, and deadlines, but I have no doubt this will be the greatest Batman game ever. For all those reasons B:AA receives a 9/10, missing out on the final point for not including the ability to drive the Batmobile.

^When a game has no multiplayer i think the games story/campaign mode actually is brilliant. Good examples off the top of my head Uncharted, Assassins Creed.

akaWarMachine
07-04-2009, 09:14 AM
Batman: Arkham Asylum dodged a bullet by skipping the multiplayer, while Bionic Commando F'ed up and lost a lot of money because neither campaign nor multiplayer was executed well enough to draw attention. Assassins Creed was so repetitive I couldn't have finished that game if I was on Adderall.

it better be good for the 100 dollars im putting on it and cause it looks awsum dont worry bout the shortness, remember all the extra things to do like the riddles, joker spray cans, two face coins, acheivments, free roam, just the whole exploration of arkham island.

the boss battles- look excellent so far you have to come up for a way to beat each one.

gameplay-looks AMAZING and if uve played the demo u know how cool the combat isur dealing with one guy u snap anutherguys arm behind you its just flows perfectly

gadgets-looks like a variety of them and you can also upgrade them which makes it 1/10th and rpg

graphics- HOLY AMAZING COWCRAP LOOK!! aka awsum and amazing

so overall 10/10
