But RIP comes before Battle for the Cowl?! tbh it won't matter too much ull get the idea but i'd definatley read all the battle for the cowl stuff together
If you really wanna splash out get Batman & Son and Batman: The Black Glove first as these build up to RIP respectively but have an open mind when reading RIP and you'll get most of it. In My opinion I'd read them like this:
Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader 1&2 (its a standalone story but because its the "last" bruce wayne story it acts as a nice close before the beginning of battle for the cowl)
Battle for the Cowl 1
Commissoner Gordon one-shot
Battle for the Cowl 2
Arkham Asylum one-shot
Underground one-shot
Hope this helps =)

Yeah but the Hardcover doesn't come out until next month and I don't wanna wait until then to read the Cowl books because I know someone will spoil it for me...

You dont really have to read the WHOLE arc, I recommend it tho. Issue 6 and 7 is where Batman is involved.

I found a site where I can read his parts but I do wanna check it out as I've read Identity and Infinite Crisis. Do they affect the story at all?

Well, it involves the multiverse, and New Gods and all that stuff. Besides just having Crisis, the only connection is I believe Infinite Crisis made the multiverse known again, and in Crisis of Infinite Earths, Barry Allen dies. In Final Crisis, you see the return of Barry Allen. Thats really all I can think of right now. There might be more.
They actually havent completed ALL of the Final Crisis tieins. With Final Crisis Legion of 3 Worlds still going on (i think the third issue came out today, and still one to go).
If you want to read the parts, you can always download them off torrents, then you could read the whole arc without having to wait for the HC.

Im still not too familiar with the New Gods and different dimensions. The ending confused me and the Marvel family was involved but different. Its confusing and has some cool characters so definitely read it from beginning to end. This is the reading order with Batmans involvement in FC i got from Captain Jim from CBR:
Batman #676, JLA #21, FC #1, Batman #677-681, Requiem #1, FC #2, Batman #682-683, FC #6-7.
Batman supposedly beats the Devil, goes against the God of Evil, and then survives Death. Batman has had a rough few months.
EDIT: Also, have you read issue #666? Its a take on Damien in the future as Batman. Kubert (who did the art for What ever happened to the cape crusader) penciled the issue with Morrison on writing. Probably my favorite issue on Morrisons run.

Nah but I read up on it on Wikipedia when I was reading about the Three Ghosts of Batman or whatever their called with Bat-Bane and whatnot...

I would highly suggest picking up that issue, and even downloading Morrisons whole run. Tony Daniel (who is writing AND drawing BFTC) and Kubert are the artist with Morrison. Both are phenomenal artist, and Morrison is great but over the top sometimes. However, Batman of Zur En Arrh was so freaking badass, Ive only read Heart of Hush on Dinis run. Dinis run on Detective Comics was considered better than Morrisons run on Batman. Id definitely check out Heart of Hush ( does that come with the RIP HC)?
Also i forgot, the first thing you should read is DC Universe #0. Thats the very first hint of Black Glove. Very cool conversation between Batman and Joker. I could post them for you. If its cool with the admins. Its 3 pages.

Ok, some how I think it is interesting how the order got mixed up so badly. They are in order from the dates they were released. So that means the order goes:
Batman R.I.P.
Gotham Gazette: Batman Dead?
Battle for the Cowl #1
BFTC: Commissioner Gordon One Shot
BFTC: Man-Bat
Battle for the Cowl #2
BFTC: Arkham Asylum
BFTC: The Underground
BFTC: The Network
Battle for the Cowl #3
Obviously I added some that were not in the original list. DC would be pretty dumb to release books that are months apart from each other in a story line. And before a ton of people respond with the following books to argue that point, keep in mind that these are not part of continuity since we know Batman is not dead.
Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader parts 1 & 2
