Maybe Rocksteady will work on that one day, should Arkham turn out good.

Gotham will not be good
I is far to big to be a map in a game(a good one would be about 3 times as big as oblivion, and it took about 45 minutes to walk from the top of that map to the bottom) and it would force them to cram everything clos together.

Then you'd have the BatMobile and all his other transport, which, if you think about it, will be screwed up(at least one of them will) unless they take a year just to make controls for it

Now, I am all for a sort of "sequel" where you play as the joker and try to destroy Gotham, because that would be easier
There' could be the same mechanics as Arkham, but instead of the gadgets, he could set traps to stop police officers
and his plan could be to set Arkham free, sort of as a prequel to Arkham Asylum.

When I think about it, that sounds like a fun game

As brilliant as your idea is, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with your thoughts on the city size being an issue as well as the transportation problems. As we saw in GTA4, a large scale, high-quality game with great mo-cap, character models, architecture, voice acting, and exceptional vehicles is ENTIRELY possible on this generation of gaming consoles.

That being said, playing as a henchman who tries to work his way up through the ranks by working for the various rogues of Gotham would be WAY interesting, especially for those of us who love to cause as much virtual anarchy as possible.

GTAIV was actually smaller in size than San Adreas, and more comparable to Vice City.

It was simply more compact.

GTA Has a lot of vehicles to travel the map, any car you can see you can drive, Batmans hardley gonna go and jack a random Persons car is he?
Thats what people are saying the problems with travel would be, you wouldnt be able to get around quick because of the vehicle limits, and i dont think theyre gunna be hiding Batmobiles in bushes either, Adam West style...

But anyway! Why are we talking about a sequal? Why dont we wait for this to come out first?
Then see what is to be improved, and go from there...

Well, there's no reason to limit your imagination to car jacking. If you recall, Batman has used his Autopilot feature on more than one occasion. I think it might be a little short-sighted to jump on board with the character's possibilities in the movies, comics, or even a game such as AA, but then discount the possibility of the character's existence a GTA type of game.

So, what are the possibilities?

Well, for fast travel - Batmobile, Bat-cycle, etc.

When on foot, grappling and gliding between rooftops could be a lot of fun.

Not that hard to imagine, I'd say.

I explained this in the previouse thread, you have several vechicles the jet would be the quickes but when Batman goes out on patrol he does take the batmobile with him and makes it circulate a certain area or just park it somewhere. From there you would be able to call it from your batmobile remothe thing and it will try out from a corner in like 15 secondes or just use the grappling hook, or glider to get to the vechicle, or undergroung subway that batman has.

so practically what he said ^

A sequel would be awesome...
I'd love to be able to free roam Wayne Manor and lock Alfred in the freeze :rasp:

It be cool to have something similar to the convicts in Dead Rising...How they always patrol one area and cause havoc for you. Except have it be a group of thugs or Catwoman!

You know, I don't know why you couldn't model a character like Batman over something like GTA 4. In that game you spend a lot of time doing simple tasks like taking a girl out to a bar, etc. Why couldn't that work as Bruce Wayne? Interruptions can happen like the Bat-signal showing up during an evening out, etc. He could have all kinds of cars of his own. He could have disguises and could could probably jack cars if he really needs to get somewhere when in disguise. Maybe the consequence could be a hit to a karma meter or something.

Setting the character in a very non-linear virtual reality I think would really deliver quite an epic title, so long as the devs didn't drop the ball with annoying side missions like in the Spider-Man games.

Because it would be a day to night process probably AA isn't because it is all night

I think a game like this would be good, but we are getting a lot of new threads based on a sequel when this game hasn't even come out yet and there are already threads out there about free-roam gotham cities

P.S. I know there is only one Gotham

I think that if the next Batman game takes place in Gotham City, then it should have the same gameplay mechanics as Assassin's Creed! Rooftop-jumping FTW!!!

I have to a agree with Shazam, if they do make a sandbox game like GTA I would certainly hope it would have a very different play mechanic. ever since GTA 3 they have all been the same. Assassins creed would be and interesting model but i still don't think it would do batman justice. If a totally open gotham is impossible with the current play engine I think a good idea would be multiple large area of the city, with Batmobile driving sequences in between to get from place to place.

open ended free roam Gotham would kick @$$! i would never stop playing that game, especialy if there was a co-op system. me and my brother play games all the time together and we laughed at the co-op in GTA San Andreas.

if they could develop a drop in/drop out co-op, free roaming, Assassin's Creed style roof jumping, gliding, grappling, criminal stalking batman game with the manor and the cave and even the asylum included then i would live on that game!!!!:nut: :nut: :nut:

I hope not, it would ruin the stealth gameplay and of course he can't steal cars like in GTA or Saint's Row 2 and if you always need to wait 1-2 mins before your personal car arrives that would become very boring.
Okey he could use a grapple gun or something like that to swing around town but that would just be another stupid spiderman game then.
