View Full Version : ***Will the cape clipping be fixed?***

I honestly never noticed it until someone on this board mentioned it, and now that they did. I'm really worried about it.
Do you guys think the clipping will be fixed? I mean, I wouldn't mind if it wasn't on the main character. We're going to be looking at Batman's back 85% of the game. :|
P.S. Arkham Asylum is the best looking console game, imo. :)

I gotta admit, as much as I'd rather have clipping over bad gameplay, the stiffness of the cape did bother me. It went through Batman's back as he was being thrown, and then through the grate on the ground as he fell. It even clipped through his leg when he dodged Bane's first attack. The perspective means that we will be seeing his back a lot.
Please, Rocksteady. Please fix the cape.

HaHa, yeah I heard the same thing...they should not have bragged about it if it didn't look so hot.
Still, it does bother me but ultimately I don't think it will ruin the game or anything. Has the true reason for the two week delay been found!?!

Has anyone seen on assassins creed, when you jump in a rooftop basket, how the curtain reacts?
or even on the last generation game 'Prince of Persia:Warrior within' when you run into a long wall hanging thing it will react to you, i dont see why they dont just incorperate these physics into it, surely its not hard.
I Dont see why theyre going to so much trouble with the cape when on nowadays games, it just requires a simple physics engine.

Well, in Assassins Creed, when you were on a look out point, your robes went through the perch you were on, and even when you are running, the robes go through one another, so there may be more to it than just a "simple" physics engine.
I'm not saying it has to use the exact thing, im saying they got it acceptable in that game, and they didnt need a person dedicated especially to it, whereas in this game they do, and the cape sucks.
What im getting at is, although AC Had clipping issues with robes and stuff, they got the movement of them right, so if they could make the cape less rigid and apply what was done movement wise on AC, then the cape would look a lot better
Because i think part of the reason for the bad clipping is the rigid cape, if it moved like it should, it probably wouldnt slice through Batman....

True. I would even be fine with the cape physics that they had for Vader in The Force Unleashed. But the game isn't finished, so only time will tell if the cape will continue to violate Bats.
:p
"only time will tell if the cape will continue to violate Bats"
I lol'd
But yeah, maybe the dude working on the cape hasnt applied what he's done to the current build of the game?
Maybe we arent seeing what he's done yet?

Well, its hard not to notice a big piece of fabric going through Batman's back. Wouldn't you stare if you saw a guy walking on the street and he had a huge cape going right though him?
no i dont stare (its rude) and i glance (except at the tv). but they will fix it. i knows it

It's mo-cap, isn't it?
Either way, I agree with Batman. He looked way too stiff when he went through the wall. He should have at least rolled to safety when he hit the ground.
But Bane didn't look stiff to me... :\

From what I've seen in the demo trailers, the cape wasn't clipping at all.
I think the trailers were done before the fixes, but they were released later on.
