Here's the next game! I'm giving you lot an image. It will set you on a trail to something with some goodies for the community. When people get to that something, I'll start part 2. Now get to analyzing!

Well, Since I didn't feel like making part 1 any more complex and van_HellSing has no life (and will be excluded from all future detective games), Here is part 2: The trivia game.
Part 1 lead to something.
And now you need the password. It is the sum of the answers to these questions:
-What is he first character of the third word in the first conversation with Smuggler?
-What is something that the bar fly in the Lucky Money doesn’t mind?
-What is the name of the biocell businessman in the paris club?
-What is the 3rd character of Gunther’s killphrase?
-What Bob Page will be according to JC Denton?
-What are the last two numbers in the code for the Aquinas Hub?
:)

OK, for the "sitting at the back of the class with the safety scissors and glitter" of us here, can someone please explain how van_Hellsing jumped from this:
Daedalus:GlobalNode:UN//UNATCO//RESTRICTED//923.128.6430/Login
To this:
http://www.daedelusglobalnode.cjb.net/
And how the foreground text in the original image is relevant? I assume it's not all a sequence of lucky guesses?
van_HellSing
04-02-2009, 04:11 PM
OK, I can answer this one before I log out: note that the text in the background is not just copied over and over, it actually contains the adress. The foreground text is just a decoy to divert attention from and obscure the background text.
G'night now! :)

Ah - I assumed 923.128.6430 translated in some kind of machine code to .cjb.net, or the foretext created an acronym or something! Thanks for explaining!

I'm taking your word on the first one. I don't remember the first convo with smuggler, and to be honest, I think it differs based on this or that.

Well, I can confirm all but the final two
-What do you want?
-I remember Antoine the aug dealer talking about manufacuting steroids in JC's muscles, to which JC responds "nothing so crude as that" :P
-I remember the bar fly. Had a leather jacket, stood around the bar saying "Sure, I don't mind needles."
-Gunthers killphrase was "laputan machine"
-This one isn't so concrete. Could be anything seeing as it isn't a direct quote
-I don't have any saves close to this part of the game so I can't check this code...

Okay, let me sum it up. In the background of the first image we can see repeating strings of characters "Daedalus:GlobalNone:UN//UNATCO//RESTRICTED//923.128.6430//Login". One of them is altered and reads: "daedelusglobalnode.cjb.net:UN//UNATCO//RESTRICTED//923.128.6430//Login".
When we open that website (daedelus?!) an RTF file opens. In the file there are numbers "77 77 77 2E 65 63 68 65 6C 6F 6E 73 75 72 76 65 69 6C 6C 65 6E 63 65 73 79 73 74 65 6D 73 2E 63 6A 62 2E 6E 65 74", which are hexadecimal values of letters in ASCII. It's encoded "www.echelonsurveillencesystems.cjb.net". It redirects us to a photobucket account that we need to hack.

OK, here's the whole of the third panel (the one with the picture):

Yes, this is the whole panel, yes, it cuts out in the middle of a word.
All jumbled Hamlet quotes.
The fourth panel doesn't continue and instead seems a complete mess:

^^ Damn. I really thought my interpretation fit the mold nicely... :hmm:
Every image was chosen for a reason.
Ok let me take a step back and define my thoughts in broader terms:
Pic1 was chosen because it is funny. It could be interpreted in DX terms as EM popping up and saying, "Deus Ex 3! You know you want it!"
Pic2 was chosen because ... well ... I still think it alludes to prequels in general. Maybe bad prequels? Casual markets...?
Pic3 was chosen maybe because it symbolizes a cult fan base following? Or maybe because its really epic looking, I dunno...
Pic4 was chosen because ... maybe it symbolizes the big producers/designers "cheating" the world? Or in this case, the fans?
Actually, thinking about it now. I don't think Mr. K is quite this pessimistic about DX3...
EDIT: Thinking about that second picture, maybe it could be seen as representing two opposites, you know, Light side/Dark side
EDIT#2: Probably nothing, but maybe the different color schemes of the pixelated backrounds have some sort of significance.

Ok so out of all my guesses, the prequels bit was the closest so I'll focus on that part here:
Could mean prequels as in big money, resurrecting old successful franchises. Or could mean high expectations from the fans, possibly unreasonably high expectations.
Could be referencing the fact that the new Star Wars movies were more or less aimed at a different market than the first movies.
Maybe you're attacking Lucas for making the new movies utter crap ... lol

Okay...the big reveal:
Pic 1 leads to Sluggy Freelance -> Sluggy.com
Pic 2 represents both Sci Fi and SW episodes 2 & 3 (those actors are only in those movies).
Pic 3 represents Sci Fi and Babylon 5 in particular.
Pic 4 represents Misdirection. And that's exactly what it is.
Sluggy.com (http://sluggy.com/) is the second breadcrumb. Click on the New Viewer Guide (http://sluggy.com/about/nvg.php). Go to the Sci Fi adventure (http://www.sluggy.com/daily.php?date=971004&mode=weekly) (pics 2 and 3 point you towards this).
Later on in the Sci Fi Adventure you encounter this strip (http://www.sluggy.com/daily.php?date=971011&&mode=weekly). It mentions station 9-bab-5, which should be recognized from Pic 3 (not only does that show circle around a space station, "bab-5" is a reference to it).
Now we come back to Pic #2, which was chosen because it represents SW episodes 2 and 3. Relating to this forum game, that means that something in part 5 carries over from parts two and three. That can mean one of 3 things:
a) a password
b) a photobucket
c) a DX name theme
If you picked b, you're right. There's no password seen anywhere, and neither is there any DX name theme anywhere so far.
So...now you have 9-bab-5. And you know there's a photobucket involved. Now you do a people search on photobucket for "9-bab-5" and...
I think this one was simply too vague. The next part will be easier and more DX related.

Wow. No clue. I see a DX barrel there, and the assault rifle. I also see someone swinging a sword. Other than that it's too much of a jumble for me to make out much else.
EDIT: Also, do I see a security bot? The medium size kind? Right in the middle, I think that might be what it is. Can't think of what CJB or timeline would mean. That's Anna Navarre in the WAY background, too.
EDIT EDIT: The rectangular box thingies on the top...was that on the NSF plane? I think maybe...maybe not. EDIT EDIT edit: Nope.

I'm the n00biest of photoshoppers. I can do a few cool tricks with GIMP, but I wouldn't even know where to start.
EDIT: I tried overlaying a reversed transparent-ish copy of the picture, but didn't see anything...just a cool looking picture.

Trying all sorts of image manipulation on the pic right now. Anyway, CJB is most probably http://www.cjb.net/, one of the services Mr K uses for the breadcrumb sites. If you remember, the first part pointed us to http://www.daedelusglobalnode.cjb.net/
So, once we manage to figure out what "timeline" refers to and the significance of the pic, the we already know what type of breadcrumb this is ;)

Since you've figured out the color inversion trick, I'll just give ya the image without that filter applied. Should be a bit easier to work with than all that over-saturated tinted gunk.

Definitely underneath Vandenburg. The guys fighting are the Luminous Path vs. the Triad from that one cinematic. That thing at the top...the row of rectangles...it reminds me of maybe Area 51, I really don't know.

Anna staring looks looks like that scene where she comes up and taunts you in your cell if you didn't already kill her. Then there is the submersible and the triads fighting ... The rectangle pattern could be maybe VersaLife labs or Area-51 I suppose.

Alright...we've got the two triad factions fighting in the subway, with the Luminus path facing away from us.
We've got both mini-subs at the sub-base, looks like the laser was edited out of one of them
We've got Anna, of course.
some broken metal pipes...is that from Area 51? Not sure, several areas with broken pipes. Off the top of my head, A51, Ocean Lab...man, I can't think today.
That whole room...I think its in Hong Kong, actually. Thats assuming the ceiling is from the same place as the wall.
Some radiation barrels...mutants?
Timeline makes me wonder, theres a lot going through my head. First thing I thought was that Anna was somehow involved in the Triads fighting.
Too hot right now...can't think properly. Urhhghgh.

If the theme is 2nd half of the game, wouldn't the last part have to be either abandoned gas station (not likely) or the much larger Area 51?
Whats really annoying is I recognize it now, but I'll be damned if I can remember where its from

The laser is there at the entrance. When you are leaving the base, there are two subs in the pen. One is yours, the other is Simons'. That's where the picture is taken.

I think the answer is SUB
The SUBmarines in the SUB base, the Hong Kong SUB way, the SUBterannean Vandenburg thingy, Anna talking to you in the SUBterannean holding pen. Either way, it's all below ground level.
EDIT: You can also use the argument that Anna is 6 feet UNDER. So is the breadcrumb underground?

That's definitely where that top part of the pic is from!
However, the broken pipes are (for the 12th time) definitely underneath Vandenburg, where the guy died because of radiation or whatever. You can creep around on top of those pipes for a large part of the level, but at that point you fall because the pipes are broken. That's where the red door is from, as well as the radiation barrels. Those rectangular things are definitely the HK sewers, though. So, still, we have that it is all underground. Apparently, not enough for Mr. K.:mad2: It's never enough for Mr. K.
