Hi, all. I'm having some serious (and disappointing) problems with the PS2 version of Underworld. I bought the game at Target and so far I have exchanged the game twice. I've searched google and this forum high and low and have yet to find anything that helps me. If you can help me here or redirect me to a thread/website/forum that can help, I will be beyond grateful.

The problems I'm having are that the game keeps freezing up on me. The first 2 games I got kept freezing up after I completed The Mediterranean section - after the cut scene of Lara shooting at Amanda flying away on the helicopter and retrieving the gauntlet from the ocean.

The second game I got after it froze after the cut scene, I started a new game and got as far as Southern Mexico. In Mexico, however, I would get past the second set of pillars that you have to climb to get farther into the ruins and the level would [basically] disappear. Once I got to certain point, all that was in front of me was blue landscape with a few rocks and pieces of ruin floating around randomly. I could back where I came and the level would still be there, but the rest of the level would never reappear - just blueness. (I hope this makes sense. I'd love to post a screen shot, but I can't get that far in the game anymore without it freezing).

Now the third game I exchanged it for won't even let me get past Croft Manor in the very beginning. The game just freezes after the cut scene with Winston, Zip, and Lara. :mad2:

I'm really at a loss for new ideas. I've tried exchanging the game, cleaning my PS2 lens, I've checked the discs as well as I could for any scratches. I even went as far as buying another PS2 console thinking maybe my old one had finally kicked the bucket, but the games kept freezing up in the same exact places (I've since returned the new PS2 since I didn't need it). Also, none of my other PS2 games have been freezing up.

I'm so disappointed! I waited so long for the game to come out and then had to wait even longer for the PS2 version, which from what I've read, isn't as good as the PS3 or Xbox versions. I'd really love to buy a PS3 and play that version, but I have to pay the bills first (blech).

Anyone have any new ideas to help me?

I am also having problems with the PS2 version of Tomb Raider Underworld.

I'm brand new here so I hope this is the right place to post this:

My Tomb Raider Underworld has a defect, when I try to save my game I don't get those 4 open slots, it just takes me back to the main menu quickly whenever I try to save the game. I took the game back once, and bought another copy, but the exact same thing just happened again. Both copies I purchased were defective. Has anyone noticed this problem?

I know that the problem isn't with the PS2 or the memory card, because all of my other games work properly, it's just that Tomb Raider Underworld won't save my progress. I am about ready to give up trying to get the game.

Thanks for nothing, Eidos. :mad2:

l would take it back game seems to be faulty, just ask for a refund and wait for a later fixed version to be released. It might only be a few batches that were bad but after AOD it is not worth trying to get a working copy till later. The Pal version released here in Australia did not seem to have any problems, and l attempted to get all sorts of strange places so was hardly playing normally, never had a single glitch. Pity after waiting so long you guys ended up with faulty goods.
