Hello
I downloaded Deus Ex: Invisible War off Direct2Drive, and right after having downloaded, the strange problems began. At first it was the issue of the installer taking 5 minutes to open, and the computer making weird noises while it was attempting to open it. (First time that's happened to me) When the installer does open however, the game installs.
When the setup wizard is done, I left the "launch now" box ticked and clicked OK and it showed up with the message "VIKTORIA: ERROR: [Exception 0xC0000005: Access Violation]". When I uninstalled the game and re-installed it, I unchecked the "launch now" box before completing installation and tried to open from the desktop icon, but when I do that it doesn't even give me the error, it just refuses to open, and Windows tells me the application closed, without any hints as to what the problem may be.
The first thing I did was contact the D2D support who (after finally responding to my problem with something other than an automated message) told me that "it may be my graphics card that can't handle the game", and that they were not responsible for the game after it had downloaded, and that I should contact the developer. Sure. My card can handle Fallout 3 just fine... but Deus Ex.. nope that's just way too "advanced" *eyeroll*
This has been long, and frustrating, and I really hope the game (if I get it to work) will make up for the annoyances I've been experiencing in attempts to get it to run.
My specs:
OS: Windows Vista 32 bit
RAM: 4GB
HD: 300GB / 117GB free
graphics: nVIDIA GeForce 8400GT
I have installed countless games and all work fine, so I KNOW it's not my system, rather prob. bad scripting from the game. Is there anything I can do, or do I need to just forget I ever bought it? (Incidentally D2D don't give refunds...)
EDIT: I don't have any viruses on my computer either.
