Wii help in S. Mexico

I have gotten into a courtyard where I had to kill the black Jag. The hint says climb a pillar for a better view. I have found a small pole that I guess should now be used to help climb up one of the pillars. So where do you place the pole? And I know that it does not belong THERE, so no need for smart a&% replies thank you very much.

Never mind, I found a way up.

Though I found a way! Now I'm really lost. The path I took got me back to the very first courtyard. So help me out here. In the first court yard is a turnstile that opens a side alcove with a switch. This switch opens a big stone gate. I think that leads to the court yard with the black jag and some pillars. Next to one pilliar is the small pole. Do you use that pole to get up somewhere, and if so where do you use the pole?

Where did you find this pole?

Was it lying on the ground directly infront of a pillar?
If so...the pole slots into the pillar it was lying at. As as you find it, pick it up and face the pillar. You should see the minus sign coming up, letting you know this is where the pole slots into.
Once you've slotted it in, jump up and perch on it then quickly jump up again, grabbing onto the pillar. You'll find your way from there.

I actually couldn't figure that one out either. I ended up jumping between the two last columns on the right before the two broken ones and climbing up onto the balance beam there and made my way to the right side of the temple.
