View Full Version : Big Final Battle Glitch

During the final battle (or what I am assuming is the final battle - the giant DMC/GoW style circular colussus vs Natla). I naturally assumed the goal was to get to the top - so the first thing I did was climb upward - I moved one of the pillars from the third level, and only then realized I could only move the other pillars from the first/water floor. I climbed back down and moved the other pillars, and then climbed back up enroute to the top.

Here's the glitch - to get from the second to the third floor the pillar I moved from the third floor (initially) must not be moved already. If the pillar movable from the third floor is moved prior to the others being moved it's impossible to get from the second floor up to the third floor again. Unfortunately the save doesn't see it like this and saves you automatically on the first/second floor - preventing you from returning to the third floor without reloading a previously saved game.

I've been playing for something like the past 3-4 hours straight, so the last save for me is way back at the (guggenheim metropolitan) gates to the dead back on jan meyer.

For all the people reading this who aren't there yet - SAVE AT THE VERY START OF THE FINAL BATTLE.

As for the devs - possibly allow the pillar moveable from the third floor to be moveable from the second floor instead? It doesn't drastically alter the concept of the puzzle, and it prevents people who made what I believe is a valid assumption (climbing up at the start of the fight) in the situation from having to redo potentially the last 3-4 hours of gameplay.

Edit: Or just allow us first timers to restart levels at their beginning rather than saving that functionality for repeat players, I always liked the episodic feel of Tomb Raider anyways :D

I don't think this is a glitch - It's not enough just to move the pillars - you have to break the 'plugs' at the top of the pillars as well - this breaks up the columns and gives you extra floaty blocks to ride on so you can reach other parts

Although, if it makes you feel any better. . .I did the same thing. THEN, after I restarted and got to that point and did it correctly, I got stuck. . .trying to figure out how the heck I got to the very top again. I was standing on one of those moving blocks like a million times looking every which way. . .swearing and pitching a fit, haha. Classic tomb raiding.:D

nah its a glitch, once you move the pillar from the third floor its impossible to return to the third floor from the lower levels without the other pillars being broken, and you cant break them without moving them, and once you move them, because of the third floor pillar you already moved, you can't return to break them.

Have you climbed up the central rotating tower in the middle?

I can't remeber exactly what you do in the whole area but I got stuck at one point, couldn't get to the top to move the last blocks, until I realised you can jump from the revolving blocks to the rotating pillar and climb right to the top level.

Maybe you've already done this, but if not it's what you need to do to get to the top.

No i'm not saying the whole system is bugged - just that there is no initial direction - so when I climbed up, found a pillar I could move, and moved it - I found that when I then went to the first floor to move the others I couldn't return to the third floor.

The rotating central column is used to get from the third floor to the fourth floor - it occurs after this bug and is not related.

The problem is that if you (like me) start the fight by climbing upward rather than downward, you can lock a pillar that then denies you getting back from the second floor (starting floor) to the third floor.

The correct method to proceed is to go down to the water first and move all available pillars, then work your way up again.

Also this problem can occur at another time - if when Amanda shows up and is attacked - if you take that as a hint to go save her (I did this as well in a later attempt) you will again get stuck on the second floor unable to ascend.
