I was wondering, is there a certain way in WindowsXP, to have a certain type of log in song or melody? I dunno I was just ignoring my teacher blabbing in class and I had that crazy idea!LOL! I was thinking to put like a Tomb Raider song instead. Anyway if this is true or not, reply to this thread and tell me. (please don't call me crazy:( )

Actually, I think it is possible. You know that little tune that Windows plays every time you log on or off? Well, if you wanted a different sound, all you'd have to do is go to contro panel> sounds & audio devices> click on the sounds tab> look for either the exit windows or start windows sound, then change it by going to browse and selecting the sound you want to replace it with. I am going to change my sounds right now.:D

As Polar said, it is indeed possible...in all versions of Windows.

I used to have the theme from Jimbo & Ned's hunting show from "South Park" greet me as my PC started up.

Everytime I log on Gene Wilder tells me he's hysterical! ;)

Further more I changed all my system sounds to humourous soundsbites to prevent me from getting angry when something crashes or has an 'error'.
And you know, it works!

I once had a Dr. Evil theme....every time an error occurred my PC said "Throw me a frickin' bone here...."

Everytime I boot my computer yells: "What? You again?"

hummm... that sort of coincides with my shut-down sound "...go away, go away, you frighten me!" ;) :D

I got Lara on mine (sad huh) When I boot up she says 'Right, lets go adventuring' and when I close down she says 'Right now I'd better get out of these wet clothes' he he always makes me laugh. (well you know what they say about the little things  )

I may be wrong, but I think the only kinds of sound files you can use are WAV files.

But I think it is a WAV file, and plus even if I change the melody to somthing that the computer came with, it still doesn't make the song come out. Whenever I log in and Log out it makes the same sound even if I changed it. SOMBODY HELP!!!!!!!!!!:(

Cool LARAMANIAC, one time when I came to log out she said 'but I haven't finished jumping about yet!' Made me laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh until I thought about buying a round. :D

Are you clicking "APPLY" when done, and not just "OK"?

Also may help if you save the sound scheme when you have made changes too.

and I know I'm only on Win 98 not XP, but for what it's worth, I can use mp3 sounds as well as wav's.

my computer says 'welcome' with a little humming noise very highly and infuriatingly, with an equally infuriatingly 'goodbye' when I leave. It makes me laugh though hehehe!

This is too much! The lady that has the same taste in music and movies as me and the lady that well...I'm married to...both have Lara quotes on their computer???!!! Are you two sure you're not the same person?:p As Lara would say "Thank You!"...for just being two clutch and cool ladies.

For clarification on what the word "clutch" means go here....http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=56969#post56969

THE True Lara

'Cool Edit' will do the job.

try Znet, they'll no doubt have a copy of it.

Thanks :D
I couldn't find it on znet but I found it somewhere else.
Do you know if it is possible to change it without downloading anything?

You mean with something already installed with windows? Ha! that's a laugh! All my best/most useful editing programs have been bought or downloaded. You won't find much help with what comes with the system standards. Even someting like media player, you'd have to download a patch or two or half a dozen, to convert wma.
