Drexel, dude, the guy may be old, but that doesn't mean he has a TV where there is always static on the screen, does it? :D
[edit: hmmm, on second thought....maybe THAT is where he got his nickname from.... well, unless he once was in a big hurry to get an icon..... :D]

Just for info - The name comes from my mock record lable. As all records were on vinyl in those days and they were prone to static charges, I chose Staticon Records. Geddit? Static on Records. :D

LOL :D
OK! In a world vastly different to now, in a time long ago, a time which pre-dates digital music reproduction on compact discs, there existed an entertainment medium known as vinyl records.
These contained an analogue representation of the recorded work in a continuous groove which spiralled in from the outer extremity of the disc toward the centre where, traditionally, the lable resided.
These discs, by convention, rotated at 45 RPM for the seven inch variety, and 33 1/3 RPM for the ten and twelve inch varieties. There were exceptions to this norm, but generally they held to standards.
They looked something like these -:

Hope this explains all? :D

Monty Pythons Matching Tie And Handkerchief was, effectively, a three sided LP. One side was normal but the other had two sets of grooves running parallell with each other, each containing different material. It was pure chance which one the stylus picked up on. :D
