View Full Version : Need Hints to Improve My Grapple/Wall Run

Hi. I am currently at the Obelisk of Khamoon level in the area where several spinning blades go in and out of the walls. Up until now, I have had Lara perform the grapple/wall runs barely well enough to get by (sometimes getting killed multiple times before I was able to do it right). But I have never quite gotten the hang of it. Sometimes she skids to a stop when I'm trying to pick up momentum and sometimes when I try to jump she lets go and flies backwards instead of going to the side, etc. I started rotating the left stick either clockwise or counter-clockwise and that seemed to help a little, but I still can't get her to run back and forth very smoothly. Is there a trick to this that I'm missing or can anyone give me a tip on how to do it better? I did go back to Croft Manor and tried to use the grapple in the practice room, but even though the "target" shows, her grapple never engages. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, you need to be pretty quick to engage the grapple...
The trick in building momentum up is to press the left analog stick in the direction Lara is running, or about to. If shes swinging toward the camera, or to the left, then press the analog stick down, or left. If she is swinging away from the camera, press the stick up, and if running to the right, press the stick to the right... (You may notice by either not doing this, or by doing it in a different direction she will skid to a halt).
Put simply: Move Lara in the direction she's wanting to go as she runs along the wall, to build up momentum.
Practise this in Croft Manor until it comes easily to you. :)
Obelisk of Khamoon has a pretty bad run of grapple wall-runs... I find moving Lara along these easy enough, it's the jumping 'back' from the wall I find hard, mostly. (The trick to that is jumping at the right time ;)).

What helps a lot in that room actually is not traversing it clockwise, which enables those nasty blades. It's possible to go counterclockwise and not enable the blades at all. Of course now that you've enabled them, you'd have to have the checkpoint prior to that available or restart the whole level.

Hello everyone! i've searched everywhere on this and other forums and never found info that could help me on this:
i got the grapple from the yard next to the statue. it works inside the manor to run on walls and in-game to swing across gaps BUT i don't know why or how, i don't seem to be able to pull it out on purpose to hook it onto rings and pull (as for installing the statues mechanism or open the secret room that opens when you pull the chandelier)
could u please explain to me how to do so? thanks in advance

Just stand in front of the thing you want to grapple and press the grapple button. You have to use the camera to make Lara look at it and actually see the hint that usually appears (like a shiny glow or the blue circle thing), or else she won't do it. You could also use the manual aim button (when you see a red circle it means shoot and when it is blue it means grapple) and when it's blue press the grapple button. Make sure you stand close enough, and don't repeatedly tap the button but press it once.
If this fails then it could be some sort of bug.
Good luck! :)
