what, Rhona Mitra isn't an option? :) she portrayed lara like I think it should be done.

I don't know about Karima, but Alison makes me laugh a lot!! The way she pretends to be Lara, like in one of the videos I've seen, where she is holding this random guy down with her foot and she says "I'm Lara Croft, and this is ________ (add convention name here)". She looks so stiff  She poses to much!

Anyway, Alison does have some cool moves that resemble Lara's... But that's the only thing in her favour... She tries too hard to be Lara when she is just a model! We gamers aren't dumb, we know you're not Lara, so stop pretending like you are! Just be yourself! (of course, wearing Lara's outfts and hairstyle) :nut:

That's what the models are hired for, to promote the game and become the 'real' Lara Croft. A job all of them (Rhona, Nell, Lara, Lucy, Jill, Karima and now Alison) have done pretty well this far, I might add.

definitly karima, she was stunningly beautiful and for her was just lara and was natural she didnt need to pretend like alison. she seemed to really enjoy being lara and shared the same kind of spirit as lara, u know travelling and bein able to speak all the different language. alison can lift her leg above her head, woop-de-doo.

Rhona and Jill.

I'm with Rexie; Jill de Jong was fantastic.

However, I can't actually decide who is the better model because I believe both have done a fantastic job portraying Lara Croft.

Alison's moves are something which a model has never been able to offer before and I think that is a real plus.

I agree with you!!! Karima was naturaly beautiful, very stunning...
I think I'm not used to Alison yet... she really doesn't convince me... she trys too hard... just because she can do some cool moves,so what?! That's not what we're looking for!!!

So, for me the best model was/is Karima...

EDIT: And of course I LOVE Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft, but we are talking about the models... :D

Personally, my favourite is Jill de Long, she just had that Lara look and she looked like she had attitude to go with it.

I don't have a favourite; I just respect that they've been chosen to be Lara for a certain game, and not for a competition to see which one of them is the best.

Angelina Jolie makes a wicked Lara Croft and she does her own stunts without gymnastics. Take that Alison!! Lara Weller was really good too, she looked most like Lara Croft, I don't like the older costumes mind.

Those are called stunt doubles & wires.

Yes, I've heard/read somewhere that some of the stunts in the movies have been performed by a Chinese man.............

Rhona was the best imo.

That usually happens in films with stunt doubles, they can't exactly get a stunt clone of Angelina or she'll take her job! :p

Angelina did do most of her stunts though (well, apart from the ones that insurance issues stop her doing...). ^.^;

I like Alison as Lara and I like that she can do Lara's moves, but Karima and Rhona are my top two. I really, really think the routines that Alison has to do look so silly and they don't really display her abilities as well as the photos or the Wii ad she did. And she comes across as a touch arrogant and a little girly in a lot of interviews.

I think it's interesting that Alison is the first model that has really admitted to never being a fan of Tomb Raider as a gamer. There's a part of me that thinkins that makes her more like Lara (I mean, would she sit around and play a video game?), and a part of me that makes me think maybe she isn't fully committed to the character. Although I don't think the other models, especially Karima, were as hardcore TR fans as they wanted to present themselves.

Alison Carrol hands down!
She's the only model that I actually believe when she's playing Lara Croft.
The others seemed like they were regular people who were hired.
Alison really gets into character when LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION is said.
Future models take tips!

(P.S : And knowing that Alison did the motion capturing for TRU, which helped with her gymnastics background. Makes her the most qualified model to play Lara yet.)

Heidi Moneymaker was the athlete motion-captured, not Alison... (Executives at Eidos: "Look at her last name: It's a sign! We can't go wrong with this!")

l never thought the gymnastics were really an important part of Tomb Raider, all the models were and are good. Although l have never really taken a lot of interest in this part of Tomb Raider advertising Jill de Jong for some reason always impressed me the most. At least to me she not only looked the part, had plenty of energy but could act as Lara as well, and l mean attitude and gun handling, not frivolous gymnastics. l am sure Alison pulls the crowd in with the gymnastics, she looks good in the outfits and seems pretty good at working a crowd, but Jill is still my favourite.

Jill's face doesn't look right in those photos, Aussie500. Well, I mean, it looks fine, but it doesn't look much like Lara to me.
But I really don't pay much attention to this aspect of the game, so I can't fairly compare her to the others.

Karima is the best, i only ever saw her, the others were probably all for boys, karima suits lara best, i only played legend and anniversary, sooo, i say karima seems more like lara than alison.

I like them all. They each bring their own perspective of Lara's character to the screen, and they each pull it off nicely in their own way. :D

I must admit I have always liked Karima Adebibe, she had a very Lara Attitude, and with Lara being a part of her life since she was 10 she really understood how Lara worked.
But I really love Alison, she is amazing, and I am liking her more each time I see her, go Alison!

I liked all of them, but it's not a competition, Karima can do things Allison can't, but Allison can do things what the others can't, they're very different. But if I had to choose I wouldn't choose between Karima and Allison, I'd choose someone else as the best model...
Edit: as Alyss said it before me... :)

I really like Alison but it's pretty obvious whenever she talks that Eidos' PR has told her EXACTLY what to say. In every interview I've ever seen, she gives the exact same answers. They should let her be herself.

Generally the live models for Lara have always seemed a little superfluous to me, but then if I had time to go to gaming conventions I'd probably think differently. Every one I've seen has seemed just...a little bit off the mark.

Angelina absolutely nails Lara's personality and is probably my fave, but is a little bit off physically too, especially in "Cradle of Life." Between Karima and Alison I don't like either. Karima has a good physical combination of petiteness and strength to approximate Lara's, but that part of her personality that you pick up from her facial expressions is just too masculine.

Nevertheless I'd have to give Karima the nod over Alison - for me Alison is so completely unlike Lara that it's impossible for me not to see her as "someone dressed up as Lara Croft." It looks like she's going as Lara to a costume party. She's not half as exotic looking as she should be facially, she's too lanky rather than curvy. Or maybe it's just me?

At any rate I wish her success, 'cause I'm sure I'll dislike the next one too. I think Lara is too iconic as a semi-abstract cartoon character to ever be adequately played by a living, breathing humanoid.

Having said all of that, who do I imagine as being a better match? I'm not up on my models, but as for actors...

Famke Janssen would be at the top of the list - That face! Those eyebrows! OMG - it's Lara!

Maybe Lara Flynn Boyle, and not just because of the name;

Linda Fiorentino, and maybe even Annabella Sciorra.

This is SO true. She keeps saying: '' I love playing this iconic role of Lara Croft for the new game that's coming out on November 21st'' She keeps saying the word iconic! It's really annoying!

Angelina may be a good Lara, but I disagree that she ''nails Lara's personality''. If they make a new movie and Ange is Lara, they should so work on that.

For example, people being on a show with a ´hidden camera´ (like boiling points).

Shall I give you my account number?

No, seriously, the models don't work for themselves, so they have to do what their employer (Eidos/CD I suppose) tells them to. She probably got a list of FAQs and answers to go with them.........................:o

Lets put it this way, its very obvious those aren't her own words. That's fine if they want to make sure she gets some important points in. Doesn't mean she has to sound like a puppet.
