On my desktop I tried to install Soul Reaver 2 with the 1.02 patch and after starting the game, it froze during the initial chat with Moebius.

On a restart it froze again at the end of the chat with him.

Pentium 4 HT 2.8ghz
2gbs Ram
ATI Radeon 256MB X800 Pro
Windows XP SP2

I decided to instead install the game onto my laptop. I played it all the way (running flawlessly) till the moment Raziel opens the doors to the Sarafan Stronghold and peers at Nosgoth for the first time as he is marveling at the site the game crashes and my laptop gives me a Blue Screen of Death.

Core 2 Duo @1.66ghz (2 CPUS)
2.5gbs Ram
256mb Intel 945gm Express
Windows XP SP3

Visually both games were running it flawlessly without any slowdown or issues I drastically over meet the requirements for this game on both machines. Yet I'm having freezing and crashing issues with both.

What gives?

I was having crashing problems on my PC on vista too. It then makes a lot of noice and crashes, but it wasn't their when I played it the second time... so I suggest you just have to play the part once more to get it working.....

If you're getting a BSOD, it's not due to the game. That's a hardware issue, or a low-level software (driver, kernel, etc) problem.

I thought perhaps it may not have been the game in full but a conflict between the games "gamepad" feature and my Xpadder mapping software. I found out during that playthrough that even though Xpadder had my triggers on my 360 controller mapped to keyboard keys, Soul Reaver 2 was also using the tirggers automatically in gamepad+keyboard mode as the camera control for left and right scrolling.

So I turned off gamepad feature in Soul reaver 2 and set it to keyboard only. I then mapped the game in full through xpadder so that the game just thinks I was using a keyboard. Then went back and replayed the game and I haven't had any problems since and I just finished the Dark Forge.

However that still doesn't explain the freezing issues I was having on my desktop. Anyways...
:)

Thanks for the help guys.
