Hi there,
I'm pretty new to the Tomb Raider franchise and to this site :D
I didn't have a PS1 when I was younger, I do remember buying some of the games for the PC but I'm not quite sure what went wrong. They installed and played okay for a few days and then the strangest thing happened. Lara started running in circles uncontrolably! I asked around and 'Game' told me that the disc was 'busted' (Don't know what that means, didn't ask.) From that point I just used the games to hang around in the mansion, which was the only place where she didn't make herself dizzy. I don't know much about Lara's roots but I've gathered bits and pieces and last year or possibly the year before I bought Tomb Raider legend (which was fantastic, I'm a bit of an expert at that one :rasp: )

So I was just wondering is there much point in me getting Tomb Raider Anniversary? From what I've seen on youtube.com it looks pretty good but I'm not sure. It doesn't seem to follow on from Legend and I was wondering if someone could fill me in on what it's about. Is it a stand alone game or does it relate back to the classics? Whose this Natla chick? She looks cool. Is she an old character? Is Amanda in this one? (she was awesome.)

Any help you can give me would be fantastic.

Lol, come to think of it the PC was problematic in every other department. What was I thinking blaming Lara?! It was forever and a day ago anyhow, I got a snazzy new laptop that plays stuff pretty well.

Tomb Raider Anniversary was a (in CD's words) re-imagining of TR1, a remake. It was a celebration of ten years of Tomb Raider, hence the anniversary in the title.

Jacqueline Natla is the main villain in that. The story has been tweaked a little, not only to expand on TR1's story but to include a small tie-in with the Legend story, mainly through Lara's father's journal entries.

If you played TR1, do not expect an exact replica with better graphics. Lara's movement is the same as in Legend's with a few new moves added. Hopefully you'll still recognise the areas that were in TR1, but they have been vastly changed; in some levels they have improved upon the areas, especially the puzzles. some say they have cut too much out, the Cistern level is tied with Tomb of Tihocan for example. If you can look past the changes and accept TRA on its own terms, then you'll be fine.

I recommend it if you want a feel of nostalgia with a pinch of newness thrown in.
