View Full Version : Too revealing!

I dunno bout you guys but Im getting sick of seein everythin in the game before it even comes out. They keep showing us "sneak peaks" but we already practically know the storyline and what levels there will be in the game, so I mean what new stuff are they actually gonna show us? Honestly I think all this stuff should have happened closer to the actual release date so as not to get people too excited and also be able to reveal new info about the game without worrying that there telling us too much because at this rate we're gonna know how the game goes before they even release it. If they had started releasing new media closer to the release date of the actual game then they'd be able to spread it out over a longer period of time, also not giving too much away. I know I just sound silly and complaining a bit too much but I really don't want Eidos to give too much away. Your thoughts lol?

1) They're not releasing everything. They're pretty tight on it...
2) We don't know the story line. We really don't. We know a bit. But definitely not much.
3) Have you not read people eagerly awaiting the trailer? not to mention the demo... and they've only shown us pics from a few bits of 2 levels...
4) Well... you can sortof tell a bit how the game might 'feel' if you look close enough at the screens given to us... but I doubt they're gonna release stuff that will spoil it for us.
5) Not silly at all.

if you really look at the screen shots being shown they are only showing us the same shots of Mexico with a few extra seens that we have no clue what level they are in! so how can you say they are giving us too much info? i for one am pulling out my hair waiting not only for the demo and trailer but the game itself! promise you, if you are a true fan it will not matter what they show us cuz the expierence of playing it yourself will be much much different!

They released the demo last week.... (just kidding. I couldn't resist. I don't know when the demo comes out...)
Trailer might come out july 5th, more likely july 15th.... only 2 weeks away anyway.
EDIT: Somewhere in september? My birthday's somewhere in september, yay.

Do you think the ydon't know what they are giving us?
Tehy are giving us bits only the small "teaser" bits so then we don't loose interest, let us know how the game is getting on.
Screenshtos are basicly within the same area not really spread apart if you look at them like someone said!
They are careful they most likly have talks about what news to give us decide in a group going "no thats to much" and things like "Oh that will keep them intersted, give them some music (main theme) they want to know the storyline or are confused lets give them a quick bit to clear somethings up."
You don't have to look at the news and screens if you don't want to if you don't want to spoil anything, all of tha is your option so if you would rather them not spoil anything.
Talk about it but keep away from the fansites which will be going "OMG new screen" and having it showing you.

I dont know if you follow the same idea as little miss Ju, I'm a fan of TR series and i would love to see a trailer with the basics changes at least.
The screenshoots are cool but there is nothing we can understand for the new gameplay.
There just images nothing else!!!!!!!

I agree with you, Cougarkit! In fact, it's increasing the suspense. I just found out on Tomb Raider Chronicles that the game is getting better no matter how many screenshots they try to post. I saw the comparison images and it's making me excited!

There not releasing everytihng really, little bit ott. lol
If they where releasing everything they would be showing the mansion, all her enermys. Basicly everything all they have done is give us a quick sneek to the storyline, some screens mainly of the same part in one level and some in another level (sooo revealing )
Im not getting on at you.
But there not revealing anything really and like Dukem said don't look at it then.
Its only your fault they are keeping people interesting and there are many people out there who arn't looking at all the news because they don't want to see it. And my guess is maybe you are that type of person.
Selling copies is the important thing. Eidos obviously has expert advertisers and publishers, so marketing is what it's all about. If they release media, there's an economic reason for it. They are not giving out favours for the fans

well, i agree with you. i think eidos shoudn't spoil the element of surprise for gamers. it may be nesseccary to reveal some screen shots of the game ( the mexican ruins) and enough! revealing the under water levels spoil the game, don't you agree:confused: :(

I guess all I can say is avoid the sites that have too much info... that's what I do! I've figured that the more information they put and the more I know before I play the game, the game isn't as fun :/...

They never force us its all our own means, if someone wants to read something they read it. Like me i like to know what is happening and things like that.
So don't blame the producers blame yuor self really thats all i can say. They want to keep people who are interested and want news, interested and so if you don't want to reveal anything DON'T look at the news and screens and the new trailer soon.

Spoilers are quite necessary, for the sake of good sales. If they don't release trailers soon enough, many ppl won't pay their attention to the game. You know, the trailers of those big titles, like MGS4, would always be released pretty soon. Lots of info does increase the sales. As a TR fan, I think we all want the game to receive both commercial and critical success. So why should we want them to release those stuff closer to the release date of the game? That'll be too late imo.;)
And also, you can choose not to watch them if you don't wanna be spoiled, which is your own freedom. ^^

Ok, firstly to all those people out there who keep telling me that I should stop looking, I spose I cant really because I, just like all you guys, want to know stuff about the game and cant wait until the trailers come out but in my opinion, they've been really piling on the new media lately and I think they should probs settle it down a bit. Im not saying they shouldnt release any new stuff because I want to see and learn stuff too but my worry is that there will be too much released at one time and the game might not be as thrilling if we know too much about it already. I agree that if they didnt release anything then the game wouldnt sell, but if they started releasing new stuff a little later then they could spread it out a bit more rather than clump it all together. They just seem to be to eager to release new stuff and I just think they should calm it down a bit. I cant really resist lookin at the new stuff, but I think they shouldnt reveal too much because it may spoil the game. And btw tomb-dude, kinda harsh. You dont even know me so dont tell me to blame myself and what kinda person I am.
LisaB

I understand wanting to know and not being able to stop looking, but don't blame Eidos for putting it out there. That's like someone blaming McDonalds for making them fat. :D
As for spoiling too much --- I don't think that's possible. I mean, it's a franchise. We know what we're getting (hopefully)--Tomb Raider. The real mysteries aren't in screenshots or in what Lara is wearing; it's in how to get from point A to B or even Can I get from point A to point B? Where are the secrets?
I mean, I've been playing TR since the beginning, so I expect spooky locations, I expect lots of cool moves to explore with, I expect vehicles and weapons. Seeing a screenshot that confirms it is no surprise at all. It's like going to a barbecue--you know what to expect, you just hope it's good barbecue.

Once again the way i word things sound harsh :mad2:
Really need to learn to word thing a bit better.
i didn't mean it like blame your self but if maybe limit your to what news yuo get such as screens and trailers not the rest of the media.
In my opinion, i think they are spreading it out enough a little bit every months does me fine and it doesn't have to be a screenshot to be honest just tell me how the game is coming along an how great it looks would do me for news.
They do obviously talk about what media they are releasing so then they don't show to much they wanted to show the first level maybe because we have heard rumours about an underwater level and they kept it in the dark to much but if you look they screens are around the same area not really showing anything to revealing.
I don't mean to sound rude or harsh but i just think if you want to see screenshots and trailers fine do it. But maybe the other part of news it to revealing for you, spoiling the entertainment factor for you? Perhaps...

Firstly I dont subscribe for new media, cos I dnt wanna ruin the experience for myself and like I said in my last post, when you see something new you want to look. I try to resist but its so hard, I always end up looking at it whether its a screenshot or concept art, I wanna see it, so what Im saying is CD or Eidos or whoever releases new mediashould hold back a bit, because I wanna know bout TRU just as much as the next person butI dont want to know about the whole game before its even out, and I know you're all gonna say "oh but they only showed us the 1st and 4th levels" but think about it, they've told us most of the locations, the boss fight in the first level, quite a lot about her new moves, and I know the thrill comes with theenvironment and stuff but you guys might wanna know all about the moves and stuf, but I like finded stuff out by accident, you know when you press a button and she does something cool, I love doing that and at this rate I wont get that at all.

They did exactly the same with anniversary, towards the end (i think) there as a screenshot basicly everyday, showing egypt. But they never did show Atlantis.
I see where your coming from the temption is to high but i'm the opposite i want to find out, because it builds up the suspence for me and it will make the game more exciting when i play (think thats the opposite to what you mean).
Things which i must admite i hate reading are articals like the one where it had the Krakan i litually wanted to punch my self for reading because it spoilt so much. But i found it to interesting.
I am seeing where your coming from more often, maybe i was just in a grump earlier, but i do apologize for sounding rude towards you, it wasn't intenstional. :)

I really think that wraps up everything quite nicely. Afterall, if Eidos don't advertise how the hell would anyone know what the game is about? The personal relationship between the gamers and Eidos is essential as both benefit.
