Okay, so, apparently there was some commotion outside one of the flats in my block this morning. I didn't hear or see anything, so I was surprised when a policeman - or rather a boy dressed up in a police uniform, rang my bell to ask if I had witnessed anything. I mean, do they really let the work-experience people out for these types of jobs? Perhaps he was doing a school project on neighbourhood watch or something and thought it would be cool to wear a police uniform. He couldn't have been qualified for crying out loud, I'm nearly old enough to be his mother!

I did say nearly! :p Bearing that in mind...should I be ashamed that I was pleased he checked me out? Either that or he was appalled and thought me totally lazy for not being quite dressed yet?

Has anyone else had those 'I must be getting old' moments? Has anyone else seen how young bus drivers are these days? Barely old enough to hold a licence! *tut*

Funny, I don't remember being absent minded.

I finally got my head together, now my body is falling apart.

Inside every older person
is a younger person

We're not getting older, the rest of the world getting ruder and more brash.

@ Spong:
Why is that? I still haven't figured it out.

I know I'm getting old when new trends such as making grafittis, wearing baggy clothes and stupid hats and listening to hip hop and rap seem totally idiotic.

I KNOW I'm getting older when I wax lyrical about this quaint olde "Themed" traditional sweet shops I saw in town this morning. I was peering in through the window and "remembering" those glass jars and the old weighing scales. Everything is sold by the quarter (Yes EU, a quarter of a POUND and everyfunk) :D

Anyway, I said to my dear mother 'Ohhh look Mum, my faves, Sweet peanuts, the ones that used to stick to the white paper bag'.

Anyone would think I was talking war time but it was 'only' the eighties yet they call it olde worlde sweets

My bad?

Edit. Image of Sweet Peanuts: http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&q=sweet%20peanuts&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

(Does anyone else remember those? And Black Jacks...oh and Rhubarb & Custards?) :o

Black Jacks were terrible for that (worse than red wine eh Wern? ;) :D )

I'd poke my tongue out and it looked like it was gangrenous and about to drop off

You know you're getting old when the fashions your wore when you were in your teens have come around...again(IE more than once) and you realise how hideous it was then - or - you think it was better the first time.

You know you're getting old when...you swear you never wore skirts as short as the girls wear today. :o

You know you're getting old when the fashions your wore when you were in your teens have come around...againI've been back in fashion at least four times during my life.

The thing is, though, I never change. I've always been a long-haired techno hippy.

Just don't understand the tech quite so well these days. :nut:

Oh yes, the sweets. Remember Spangles? And crisps came in only one flavour - plain, and had a little blue packet of salt?

Tunbridge Jones Ice Cream Soda and Peardrax were two of my favourite drinks.

How I yearn for the Good Old Days. :)

You know what staticon, you're obviously one of the rarities that are people who are simply comfortable in their own skin and happy wearing whatever suits them and fits their personalities- and not caring a hoot if it's fashionable or not. :D

Salt packet crisps! I preferred them without. What a waste of blue bag....

I recall those crisps Rai. Weren't they Smiths Salt 'n' Shakes?

Stat - I loved Spangles. Remember that 'Space Dust'? It used to be all sherbety and it would start crackling and popping when it came into contact with your tongue :D

Wham bars were similar and why is it that Curly Wurly's got so small? Not to mention Wagon Wheels. Twice the price and half the content these days...everything is going the same way :(

I get real, real annoyed when someone I'm talking to mentions the year they were born, and I remember getting plastered at a party that year.

You know what staticon, you're obviously one of the rarities that are people who are simply comfortable in their own skin and happy wearing whatever suits them and fits their personalities- and not caring a hoot if it's fashionable or not. :D True. I've always done my own thing when it comes to fashion. It really doesn't bother me what people think of the way I look.

A friend and I both played in a band in the eighties and we went to London to buy a Moog Synthesiser at the height of the punk era. The two of us with long hair and wearing jeans, tee shirts and waistcoats stood out from the crowds far more effectively than all the punks with their spiky dyed hair and dustbin-liner outfits. :D

Salt packet crisps! I preferred them without. What a waste of blue bag....The ones I referred to didn't have a blue bag. It was a small square of blue waxed paper folded and twisted to contain the salt. And the crisp packet itself was made of greaseproof paper. And yes, Lo, they were Smith's Crisps.

Remember that 'Space Dust'? It used to be all sherbety and it would start crackling and popping when it came into contact with your tongue :DSpace dust was a little after my time - but I do remember it. Sherbet fountains were more my era. :)

I get real, real annoyed when someone I'm talking to mentions the year they were born, and I remember getting plastered at a party that year.I have a similar problem - except, in my case, it relates to how many years after I'd stopped drinking. :(
