Being only one person, it's inevitable that the computer has to take over every now and then. On the other hand, I've seen the computer behave just plain idiotically despite the fact that I give it an order. This is especially prevalent with planes, which fly in straight lines like idiots even when I told them to turn.

Has anyone else noticed similar or identical idiotic behaviour?

All the frickin' time. It's so irritating.

Pretty much the only way to effectively dogfight is to do it yourself. The AI is just plain dumb sometimes.

I've still yet to figure out what happened on this match, but there was one time on MI where the AI just started randomly launching planes from my carrier. As soon as the squad that was in the air died, immediately was another squad being launched to replace it.

I ended up quitting the match, as it was early and I couldn't do anything to stop it.

To this day I've yet to figure out what happened. AI Flight deck was off, and so was every other AI thing in the "Orders" section.

I just bashed my computer casing until the comp crashed. >.>

That is one thing I definitely want them to fix for BSP. Better plane AI!

Better sub AI. At the moment to do anything with subs you need to micromanage them, since they deliberately hold back when given an attack order, which means you are too far back to get hits with torpedoes.

The plane Ai is really dumber than you think one time on Sibuyan I sent a squadron of devastators to torp the mushashi when then were going lower too drop the torps they just all flew straight into the ocean:lmao:

I find the sub AI to be better than the plane AI. The sub AI at least is more or less predictable, but the plane AI isn't. The reason why subs often travel in circles is because the moment someone adjusts the depth on them, they lose their original bearing and get set on "Cruise" - which entails them travelling in a fixed path. If the sub was ordered to turn while doing so, then the result is a rising sub running in circles.

Not to defend the crap AI, but the plane AI is the worst and the ship AI is the best, from my experience.

When I use torpedo planes, they aim in front of the ship and it is a complete waste of torps. PLEASE MAKE THEM BETTER!!

Torp planes aiming at the front is actually a good thing against targets that have crap deceleration...like Yamato and Musashi for instance. If all the ships were to decelerate faster, then more importance on fighters would result to intercept the bombers before they drop.

1. Plane A.I. Needs to to be fixed. planes that I was flying then gave an order to attack an enemy coming from the right, continue to fly straight and level untill I give them the same order while on another unit. Also when I give my fighter squad the attack command, they shouldn't fly into the lead mans line of fire(the most annoying thing about the AI in the planes to me)

2. Ships: I really can't stand it when I tell a ship to turn, lets say right at almost a 90 degree angle, and the ship does this 5 knots forward 5 knots reverse crap untill I take it and make it do what I want. This can also happen if you set the ships into a formation and one is turned the wrong way. Oh and the AI's aim totally sucks.

we'll sometimes (read most of the time) when i turn the Yorktown 180° and i swotch unots , the CV turns weaker and also reduced her speed
i set it back on fulkl throttle , and the hardest turn , i switch again and she's changed again!

also what i've noticed is that the AI has some trouble to hit a NON MOVING SHIP !!!!!!!!!

i think i can anser the sub not fireing: in the beging of the game or when they spawn they have torp. fire off (like DDs)

i do agree with the ships have troble hiting no-moving ships and planes geting in the way some times they fly into there own bombes

  Agreed they fire torps miles off and do not use depth level 4 and when they do it is usually to late. Also i would be nice if subs could detect planes with DC by themselves.

The reason why subs often travel in circles is because the moment someone adjusts the depth on them, they lose their original bearing and get set on "Cruise" - which entails them travelling in a fixed path.

Part of that statement (the part where it says "set on "Cruise" - which entails them travelling in a fixed path) is true on aircraft after you control them. I am not sure exactly what everyone is trying to specify....but...when I select a target for an aircraft and then jump inside the aircraft and move any controls just in the slightest, the plane will fly in a straight path even if you go to the map and pick something else to control. It will keep flying until I tell it to attack again.

This may not be what people mean but this has happend everytime throughout the game.

what i hate is the plane AI when you tell a fighter to switch target but it keeps attacking the same thing.

i also hate the plane AI for dive bombing if i lead the squadran to dive bomb at the ship a differient way from the AIs normal routine, it would be nice if the rest of them followed.

did anyone ever notice on sibuyan if the devastators start an attck from the mountains when they dive down to get near the ships they are attacking they fly into the water

Yeah I've noticed that. It happens on MI too if the American carriers are near the inside of the thin rim of land near the outside of the atoll. Also Zeros often crash into there target or the sea next to it when dive bombing.

WOW the AI knows how to kamikaze:eek:  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also noticed that if you fly down at an angle somtimes your wingman will fly straight as if you never left them and on Sibuyan that Gekkos don't watch were they go and crash into each other

Yeah, they really need to fix the plane's hit detection with each other. Sometimes I fly straight through, and other times our wingtips graze and we both blow up.

I think thats just lag. It doesn't seem to affect singleplayer.
