View Full Version : Changing butlers ...

In the games we see that Lara Croft has some old shuffling butler named Winston (I'm not too sure about the name though) and in the film we see she has a much younger and a lot less shuffling butler named Hillary. Why is that?

I personally think that Winston (if that is indeed his name ... I forgot and it's too late to do a search for his name) must have died of a heart attack (which isn't too far-fetched, now is it? :D), got his funeral and was then replaced by a new & fresh one.

Somehow I'm confused and I need your help. In the movie there's this character named Winston -an old guy- who helps Lara Croft with the all-seen eye thingy and eventually betrayes her. I'm positive his name was Winston, although I could easily be wrong about that! Is that maybe the butler and he quit working for Lara Croft, so that she had to get herself a new one? Or am I talking crazy here? :D

Please answer my questions, bring me full clarity on these subjects and -if you want to- tell me your opinion regarding your thoughts on the ...

CHANGING BUTLERS! :)

His name was Wilson. and the movie is only based on Lara Croft and how she is an archeologist/raider. Mostly everyone around her is gone and changed.

Actually, I think it's Winston. Everyone refers to him that way, even Stella's walkthrus call him Winston. But Wilson??? And don't worry about the film, even that confused me. They just changed everything. They probably didn't want some senile old butler getting in on the action.

I'm sure I've been here before quite recently actually, anyway I will say it again. (the short version) Winston died of a turnip overdose, the butler duties then skipped a generation as Winston's son, Jeeves set up a turnip factory and farming facility in memory of his father and called it Turnip’s R Us. Jeeves son, Hilary then went back to work in the Croft family as Lara's Butler. He was unable to take over the family business of Turnip’s R Us, as his father Jeeves went mad and brunt it to the ground. Here endth the lesson. (I hope you were paying attention this time becos I do not want to repeat myself…more than once) :D

Simple logistics.

In the movie, Hilary pads up in Kevlar and wields a shotgun.
Could the doddery old Winston (for indeed that is his name...the Jeeves came from those unimaginitive fans who assume all Brits have Butlers named Jeeves) have done anything so energetic?

I hardly think so.

The character Leslie Phillips plays is not Winston ...he is Mr. Wilson.
