View Full Version : Not detecting Nvidia 8600 GTS
Hi, had a search round, but couldnt find an answer.
I have a BLISS 8600 GTS 256MB (Golden Sample) running the latest Nvidia Drivers, but Battlestations Midway refuses to detect it.
I can still play the game perfect on full settings, but am unable to select Pixel Shader 3.
Anyone know how to get the game to detect my card?

mate .... wich resolution u wanna play?
can u play the game on 1024 x 768 ??
if yes is the card the problem!! if u look around in forums u see any probs whit 8600 like this!! and only 8600!
i play whit a GF 5900 golden sample before and no probs (now 8800 ultra superclocked 1600 x 1050, full details, antialaising 8x :rasp: :rasp: )!!
but u can relax , (if u can) play 1024 x 768 on medium details. there is not a huge difference in THIS game!!

Really, never had any problems with this card, its been working flawless since i bought it. I always run in 1024x768 with full detail on ever game and again it runs flawless, not 1 game has caused my card to struggle.
I have no problems playing battlestation:midway 1024x768 and full gfx, just wanted to see what it was like with pixel shader 3, but its greyed out, as the game says it cant detect it. Its odd it cant detect it, but lets me stick every option to max and all effects on.
I have to say this game is awesome, with everything set on full, the sea ripples, the scray, the clouds, awesome, ;).
Like you my card is overclocked (you proberly know that already), and it never goes above 53 Degress when playing very graphic intensive games, :).

I have a 8600GTS card too and BS:M will not enable shader 3.0 models. Has anyone found a work around yet ?
Does BS:M actually use shader 3.0 on other cards ?
Optimal config on the back of the box states a shader 3.0 card. 8600 GTS is DX10, pixel and vertex shader 4.0 capable card, it seems weird it won't use shader 3.0 for BS:M
The game looks OK using shader 2.0 and max gfx setting but shader 3.0 would be nice.

Looks like pixel shader 2.0
TT
From the game readme:
Optimum configuration
(1600X1200, all features on)
• OS: Windows XP Home, Pro, 64bit edition, Windows Vista
• Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3Ghz or AMD Athlon XP 3000+
• RAM: 2 GB
• Video card: nVidia 7800 Series or Radeon X1800 with 256MB RAM (2.0 pixelshader compatible)

The back of the retail box differs from the readme file, I guess the pixel and vertex shader 3.0 reference on the back of the box was a mistake by the publishers and also a bit misleading. It seems BS:M does not support shader 3.0 at all then. Nvm I'm sure BS:M 2 will;)
