STR files- How to open?

I'm trying to do a sound modification where I can replace the weapon fire sounds for actual sounds from the gun range. My problem is I can't figure out how to open the STR file to actually add my sounds (or am I wrong, are the sound files located elsewhere?).

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew how to open those files- program... changing file extentsion...

Google isn't helping too much on this one, hopefully you guys will.

Impressed by the awesome soundtrack of the game I recently was looking for the music files in the game directory.

So after a little research i found out you can open the .str files located in the main folder of Kane & Lynch with this program:

Extracting music from hitman 2 works almost the same way.
