Could you please post your impressions? :D Is it as good as the PC version or better? Are the PC glitches fixed? Are any special effects missing or look better? I'm curious! :nut:

Here's some shots of me adventuring in the PC version below:

I have it and have the PC version too. I stopped playing the PC version so I could wait for the 360 version believing that it would be the best version of the game and that I could play it on my HDTV (which does not support VGa :( ), plus I wanted the achievements.

Well the game is still great, but the port IS HORRIBLE! Seriously Crystal Dynamics should be ashamed of themselves for putting this out in this condition.

While I haven't seen any bugs, so I cannot be sure if they have fixed those or not. What I can be sure of is that while it looks the same as the PC version in most respects, it only runs at 30FPS and EVEN has frame rate stutters from time to time!

And to add insult to injury they have removed some of th nicer graphical effects! Lara no longer glistens when she gets out of the water in the 360 version!

This is unforgivable in my opinion, we wait all this time for the 360 version and it has been gimped! It wouldn't be so bad but Legend looked so good on the 360 and this looks like a PS2 game running in 720p.

Even the Xbox 1 version of Legend ran at 60FPS.

While the game is still great and I love it, I am VERY disappointed with the shoddy port that has been done on this game. Something with the graphical power of the 360 should not have a PS2 quality graphics game that does not even manage a solid 30FPS.

FOR SHAME!

Great news (sarcasm), I just took another look at the PC version and the 360 version is even worse than I thought.

The 360 version also lacks the depth of view effect, water shimmer effect, the water drops effect (has some but look crap compared to PC) hell it's probably missing the "full screen effects" whatever they are.

Really angry about this, now I know why there were no reviews before it came out.

DISGUSTING EIDOS/CRYSTAL DYNAMICS!

I can only presume this was a lazy, rushed port. The must be spending all their time and effort on the Wii version.

At least I hope they are because I want that version to be good too. Although after this version I'm not buying it.

The quality of this port is unacceptable!!!!!Thanks for the feedback parabolee. If you are right, & I trust your word, Eidos should be ashamed of themselves. ****
CD didn't port this, so they get cleared on this one, but this is really disappointing news. Special effects missing!? Come on!! :mad2:
Looks like I'll wait for a price drop on this one.

Thanks for the information.
I have played the PS2 version to death, but was still going to get the 360 version tomorrow (just for the face lift).

You have saved me some cash.

I wondered why the 360 version was released at a cheaper price point from day one.

Shame...

I would still buy it Blue Skies, just not @ $39.99 US retail. It still is better than the PS2 version & if you have a HDTV, it'll look sweeter. It just not as great as the PC version I guess. Wait until $19.99, new, like me & you won't be disappointed!

I have actually just spent 20 minutes comparing the PC version to the 360 version and I have to take back some of what I said.

Sure the frame rate is less than perfect and it is missing the wet skin effect (which is actually in the PS2 version!).

But overall they look very close, and in some cases the 360 looks better. They have used some slightly different effects in the 360 to achieve things like the distance blur an while it isn't as dramatic as the PC, it does sometimes look better.

So while I still stand by it being a poor port. It isn't as bad as I previously stated, I guess I got a little too worked up over it being less than I hoped.

In fact it's close enough to the PC version to recommend to those looking to play for achievements or on a HDTV.

I'm buying this later today, I was gonna wait for the d/load version but I cant wait another 2 weeks.

Its a shame if the port is not as good as it could have been, but graphics, effects etc. don't mean that much to me - I much prefer gameplay.

I completed the ps2 version a while back on ps3 and I had a nightmare finishing it. All the problems were down to that pesky ps3 controller. I really dont like that controller and because of that my enjoyment of TRA was not what it should have been.

I can now look forward to playing it on my prefered console and with the far superior 360 controller.

Hopefully I wont have to make so many threads asking for help this time...and I might even try the time trials as I didnt even consider doing them using that dreaded ps3 controller...!!!

xbox 360 is crap because IT IS NOT NEXT GENERATION.:(
I haven't got it coz I know it was a PC ported over. The Wii version beats it for god sakes, what does that tell you.:p
The Wii has the power of PC and has real lighting effects, unlike 360.:rasp:
Basically, CD couldn't be bothered to do like Legend... The Wii edition has been DELAYED till 1st December in the UK and Europe!!!!:mad2:
Found out today, it was suppost to be out with the 360 and psp games but CD need more time...

And yes I have a 360, but I am not getting TRA for it, thats for sure..

Well if you have it on PC then there is no need to get on 360. But the 360 version looks WAY better than the PS2 version. And I'm pretty sure it does have real time lighting effects on the 360. Overall it looks pretty damn close to the PC version.

But that's just so sad how some effects are not htere when the previous port had it! Where's the use of 360's power? wow ...it still looks great though..like hte one I saw in Gametrailers, I'm surprised I didn't see a flash when Lara shot the wolf (viewable here (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/27004.html) if you are eager to watch the whole clip) [well technically there was a flash when she shot the wolf but it wasn't as great...)

Ive been playing it on the ps2 and i didnt put my expectations 2 high, i was hopnig it would be better then legend that is all. ANd Anniversary beet my expectations i couldnt find a fault in it at all. Becuase i didnt put my expectations to high on it.

Which i think you lot did with the 360 version, hoping it was going to be something which it wasn't you must of seen a video of the trailer on tombnews.com it didnt look much different to the ps2 version to me!

(oh also on the www.tombnews.com its has a trailer for the wii additions and some other things to do with the wii :D )

But yer don't set your expectations with the wii edition also otherwise you will be disapointed!

I cant even find a wii i live in the uk and every shop i look for it says sold out its like you have been sold out for like 4 months now hurry up!!!!! :mad2:

I have no disappointment's with the game. The worse thing for me was trying the mansion first because that looks horrible, made worse because I remeber what it looked like in Legend.

But the main game looks fine and plays great. But not running at 60fps or a solid 30fps is criminal.

However I would rather have it in it's current state than not have it at all. Such a fantastic game, so glad Tomb Raider is back to the great level is was for 1,2 & 3.

I am so excited for the sequel to Legend. And I am really looking forward to the Wii version, I hope it has true wide screen because the PS2 widescreen and progressive scan left me with a black border around everything :(

The trailer certainly looked impressive.

However I am disappointed with the game. I had this game on pre-order and rented it while I wait. IMO this game seems to be more of an after thought by the Crystal Dynamic team than an actual reformat next gen game. :o

NTL it was good to see our favorite female grave robber at it again. ;)

Go Lara!

But there were definitely some areas where the graphics are impressive right? So I'm wondering even next-gen Legend ran 30fps..does that mean any games on a next-gen console can only run by that:(?

Yeah a friend of mine who also lives in your area said the same thing :( I really hope you find one. Apparently everyone wants that for Christmas..

And yeah I'm not setting my expectations too high for the Wii until it is released. It's just my 2 cents that it probably won't do as well but who knows..and wow I've already seen many flash adds on this edition in Gamespot.

Me and my dad and my mum said we would wait untill march this year until we get one so then some more games are out for it, so we went hunting for one and sold out in every single shop! and still to this very date.
My dad went to canada about 7 weeks ago and he went to this computer shop and they said they only get 10Wii's a week so its first come first serve really!

But yer im not saying anything bad to you guys but for the new TR game that is hopefully coming out (if you don't slag off CD and Edios to much :p )
don't set any expectations except will it be better then legends, that is all i did for Anniversary so i cant find any faults in it!

And to the Mansions i prefer Anniversary except (ok this is a semi fault to the game) it is dark all the time which can get anoying.
But other then that i think it feels bigger to legend becuase i looked at the legend mansion and it feels a lot more clostofobic (sorry for bad spelling)
And what i thought was a cleaver idea was to make the mansion more like a level first and the swimming pool, make it in contruction, which is cleaver becasue since she has just moved into her mansion, something still has to be built (even though it was her fathers mansion i think  )

I bought this the other day and it only cost £24.71 at Asda.

Okay, its not next gen, but it never was going to be - it was always going to be a straight port.

Like I said earlier, I played the ps2 version on ps3, and imo the 360 version looks far better than the ps2 version. I haven't played or seen the pc version so I cannot compare it with that, but I definately like what I have seen so far...and now we get achievements for our troubles...game on...!!!

Well from the sound of it, obviously you had experience with playing on the 360 so that would be a bad glitch:(

Well this game went from an 8.0 to a 7.5 in Gamespot by the same reviewer (for those who want to read it, go look here (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/adventure/tombraider10thanniversaryedition/review.html?tag=tabs;reviews))

There's also this one user review I kinda find funny (though I agree but..):
The puzzles here are pure craziness most of the time and that's also an unacceptable aspect of the game.
darknyarth, http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/adventure/tombraider10thanniversaryedition/player_review.html?id=510233
It's acceptable alright..it's Tomb Raider after all. At least he respect that the game was great for its time. And he/she liked Zip and Alister, too:
The nice thing about having the other people on the radio was they could comment about how silly insane a jump was going to be or even offer some advice. Here, you have nothing but prayer that you might be on the right track.
Well it's his views though I agree this wasn't the kind of remake I was expecting. There are times when I love this game and hate it ('cause I play it waaay too much). I'd be happy to see a PS3 release.

TR:A looked great on the PC, I have no Idea what it looks like on the X360, BUT I do have BOTH TR:L for both the PC and X360, umm it looks HELLA better on the PC, they dropped some stuff for the X360, I wish I could show you Screenies between TR:L PC and X360 but it's time consuming cause I use the VGA port on my HDTV, swapping the cables is a pain.

Thanks for the link officer puppy. It seems that this review like to compare directly from the 360 version of Legend to the 360 version of Anniversary, over looking the ones on the current-gen platform:
Surprisingly, Anniversary doesn't look as good as Legend, which doesn't really make any sense considering that we thought that the two games were being built using the same graphics engine. Lara's character model looks simpler than it did in Legend, which is kind of appropriate given that the game is a prequel of sorts, but it also kind of sucks because we had just gotten used to the glossy glow of the new Lara Croft. Environments seem to have received the most improvement, but still appear a bit lackluster by today's standards with lower-than-average resolution textures and little bump mapping or other snazzy HD-gen features.

You do realize that the PC version of TR:L was in-fact lacking some of the special effects that the 360 version shipped with (missing shadows cast on rivers and several objects, PC next-gen Lara doesn't show dirt on her/shimmering skin when she gets out of the water, etc.) general graphic anomalies that aren't apparent in the Xbox 360 version. Sadly the PC version of TR:L when it comes to next-gen is much like the current TR:A -> Xbox360 port, mediocre and rushed.

I have purchased it for the 360. I am stoked to finally play it. It was worth the wait (even thou it shouldn't have taken so long!).

Thing that gets me is - In the manor - The pool room, the wal that you use to grapple hook and run along - I kept on falling between the wall and grabbing/hanging on to the scaffolding, Lara's head was pokeing through the wooden floor... I couldn't crawl up nor move. I had to restart the manor the first time then when it happened again I could let go this time. 4 attempts later.... :mad2:

Also I read that some one posted they fell in the lost valley and the screen went black but Lara was not dead - they could still run around and hear Lara shooting etc...
This happened to me twice and I had to restart the game BOTH times.

This kinda stuff is seriously frustrating and I wish they'd iron these things out before releasing (especialy after taking so long).

In all I am lovin it none the less. Ledgend was awesome and I had expected big things from TR:A -

I think the full $$ tag was a bit of a wrought but I used work rewards giftt vouchers so I can't complain - I just don't think it should have been "full price".

I finished this the other day on 360 and I found it miles easier to do than when I struggled to do it on the ps3.

As I have mentioned all the problems I had were because of the ps3 controller but using the 360 controller I had no problems whatsoever. I got all artifacts and relics but, the only downer is I didn't get the "kill Natla without dying" and " The Great Pyramid tower climb without dying" achievements. I must have forgotten to "load game" when I died. Never mind I will get them when I replay on hard - only did it on medium.

I haven't done the Croft Manor yet or the time trials and I've no chance of getting them "Iron Raider" achievements.

When I played this on ps3 I was a bit disappointed but I found it much more enjoyable on 360 and it is miles better than Legend.

I would probably put TR:A 4th in my list of TR games behind 1,3 + 2.

You mean playing the PS2 on the Ps3 version right? Well I play it with the six-axis, I kinda got worried for the R2 button..not that I ever hold it too hard but you never know - I fear in damaging that button so I use the PS2 controller.

And ahh with this talk ..I feel likethey should have released it on PS3 also....:( or at least a PC special edition..and DOG GONE IT with a CD-soundtrack...it's not the same when you listen to it on the embedded DVD....

Dont forget it about the feel of the game guys and TRA has captured the feel of the orig with better graphics and yes it crashes a couple of times over the 20 hours it will take you to finish it if you fully explore but so what.

Could it have been done better...yes in some respects but when you are is the Cistern or St Franci's Folly Levels... wow that feeling comes back, if you are a true fan you will know what I mean.

I only hope that CD use this game as thier template for future TR's as I love the exploration stuff and hate the multiple enemy shooty elements that spoil later TR's.

This experience proved to me what a GOD Toby Gard is; eleven years later and it still stands up next to anything that has come along since.

Joshorty
11-21-2007, 12:53 PM
I gotta say though...well as far as the definition of true fan goes (I've played TR I as well and it was my first PS1 game/TR game to ever have bought)...I hardly felt much of the original TRI presence. Other then knowing that the levels are remakes or re imagining of the original, I never feel any nostalgia. The most however I can pick up from is the first four levels:DI'll give it that that they mentioned it's their re imagining. I'm beginning to think despite Core's last games efforts (AOD could have been awesome:D), they are the ones who know how to make a TR game. Yeah sure their control systems needs tweaks but yeah..Eidos could have handed Anniversary in as their last game, fusing up with Crystal..

And now on the 360 that's a bigger jumper upper. The graphics are now even more better. Well it will be good for those who are new to Tomb Raider I suppose but for some reason, it just doesn't bring that same impact it did eleven years ago but how I would i know if I'm someone who hasn't heard of TR until now?

tombboy
11-24-2007, 02:14 AM
I didn't mean to imply that you are not a true fan, clearly anyone that is a member of this forum is:)

I don't agree that Core could have done a better job however for two reasons:
1. Toby Gard designed TR1 and has contributed to Legend and Anniversary as he is now connected to Crystal Dynamics, Toby left Core because they wanted to realease yearly versions of TR and he could see that the quality would reduce year on year and this proved to be correct. He should have updated Rick Dangerous when he left and started his own francise but I digress.

2.Core messed up big time with AOD showing the fans that they had no concept of what makes a good TR game, not including TOMBS in a TR game? Guys you don't need a design document it's in the title for fracks sake:mad2:

We have to put our faith in CD now and hope that they look to the origional for inspiration, ita a no brainer for me they get Toby to take a lead on design and build a great team around him, see easy isnt it:)

Joshorty
11-24-2007, 12:17 PM
No I know you don't mean to call me not a true fan what not :) I'm just saying as far as a definition of a true fan goes...yaddiyada :D

And well obviously AOD wasn't their best but there's a story behind it due to their mess-up...don't know if I'm allowed to talk about it here. And I can understand why Toby left. It was also due to the turned-down image of Lara (like the sex appeal). Yeah I know she's sexy but even I wasn't comfortable for her to be so...MAXIM-ized. But you gotta admit the first Tomb Raider (or the first two if you wanna look at it that way) was just so unique. Anyway I'll stop now I'm not staying topic.

I just wish this next-gen version of Anniversary comes for PS3 :( OR AT LEAST provide a major update patch, which I doubt, for the PC version or simply re-release this game for those who want this. And UGH I saw pics of the TROPHY room on the Wii. I'm not sure if it's in the 360 version. Anyone confirm this?

Ya, I was really dissapointed with the quality of the 360 version, considering the console is capable of beating the graphical snot out of every other system. The biggest problem I had with it was the fact that they didn't rework the videos to 360 standards, all the cutscenes are still PS2 quality graphics. Really sucks... Oh well. I did find the gameplay graphics to be pretty much what I'd expect though.

How about the intro video? Is it in HD resolution? And you make the cutscenes sound like they are rendered videos:confused: But they're not..right?

Okay, its not next gen, but it never was going to be - it was always going to be a straight port.

!

Even taking that into account, it's graphics are pretty phenomenal and much better than PS2 and the other consoles. And obviously depending on your system, better than PC.

The bugs have been fixed but not the game. For me, Crystal have turned the series into a whole new direction but not for the better, for the worse. This is definitely not a game to recommend, IMO.

JoShorty, the whole game is HD. I don't quite grasp what your saying by making them sound better.

I know the whole game is HD :) But I'm just wondering if the intro video is in HD also but I guess it pretty much is. And I didn't mean anything about sound. I was referring to the post before mine on how Archelaos mentions that "he biggest problem [he] had with was the fact that they didn't rework the videos to 360 standards". He made it sound like
all the cutscenes in the game are rendered videos...and well I guess he pretty much answered my question on the intro video. :o
