i was just curious about something in the first soul reaver. There were cheats that you could key in that let you have ariels reaver and i think kains reaver. Ariels looked like the light reaver in 2 and kains was black with a red lglowing outline. My question is was there any use for these hidden reaver power ups or were they just an additive??? or maybe they cut the game short and they were going to be part of the game but they didnt have time. Anyone have any clue or opinions???

Soul Reaver was actually supposed to have a conclusion, but it was changed (hence why we have SR2 and soon will have SR3).
Both Ariel's reaver and the Amplified Reaver would've been the result of reaving both the specter and Kain himself before traveling on to complete the game. Seeing they chose to keep the story going, this was obviously not the case.
According to Blincoln, neither of them have any enhanced properties when you access them with the codes.

Yeah, they don't have any special properties when you access them. They just look cool.

The events depicted in the chronoplast could still happen. Ariel still wants to be free from the pillars and the dialogue that said the other reaver came from Kain was removed so they could give another reason fro getting those Reavers. (The Ariel Reaver is not the Light Reaver and the Kain Reaver is not the Dark Reaver.) I had fun with the Reavers when cheating with the gameshark. I set it so the Material (Blue) Reaver was replaced with the Ariel Reaver and the Fire Reaver was replaced with the Kain Reaver. Then when I passed the Ariel Reaver through a flame it became the Kain Reaver and when I got hit and had to get the Reaver back it was the Ariel Reaver again!

A huge portion of the game was cut from the final version of SR1 in order to meet the release date.
- Four Battles with Kain were trimmed down to just two, the battle where you gain the Soul Reaver and the battle where Kain dissapears into the Chronoplast.
- The battle with Kain at the Chronoplast was originally planned as the SECOND battle where defeating Kain would have left behind a Glyph giving you the Materialize at Will Power. This would allow you to create a Planar Portal at any location, so that you could switch between the spectral and material planes at any time.
- The Vampire Priestess Area was cut out, as well as the Posess Power that she gave you. Defeating the Priestess would have given you the ability to possess and take control of the bodies of the five clans.
- The Turel Area was cut out. (In the SR1 opening FMV where Raziel is thrown into the abyss, there is a column of smoke coming from where Turel's realm would have been.) Turel's realm would have been located in Dark Eden and would have included a huge complex containing the machines that sent clouds into the sky to protect the clans from the rays of the sun. (The reason why the clans can walk around in the daytime in SR1.) Whether or not you would have battled and killed Turel is uncertain, as the dialogue found shows a conversation between Turel and Raziel where Raziel neither Raziel or Turel appear to be interested in attacking one another, and there appears to be a long-ago friendship between the two. Also no after-battle dialogue has ever been found.
- The two dialogues Raziel had with the Priestess and with Turel were combined together and trimmed down to create the dialogue between Raziel and Morlock.
- Kain's Mountain-top Fortress was removed from the game. (You can see it as a spiraling mountain with windows near the column of smoke in the SR1 opening FMV.) Successfully climbing to the top of this fortress would have led to your THIRD Battle with Kain. Defeating Kain at this area would have started a dialogue where Kain tells Raziel that he is invincible and cannot be killed by Raziel as long as Ariel remains trapped at the pillars.
- The part was also cut from the game where Raziel goes to Ariel to seek answers and finds out that he must strike Ariel with the Soul Reaver and absorb her soul into the blade in order to be able to kill. This would have given Raziel the Ariel Reaver.
- Also removed the game, Raziel would have taken the Ariel Reaver back to Kain's mountaintop fortress for his FOURTH Battle with Kain. With the Ariel Reaver equipped, Raziel would have now been able to finally kill Kain.
- Also removed the game, killing Kain would have led to a dialogue with the Elder where Raziel returns to the Silenced Cathedral in order to access a new area. Within here, Raziel can now activate some pipes in order send out a devastating blast that destroys all the blood-drinkers left in Nosgoth, finally ending the curse and freeing Nosgoth to be reborn.

It does actually say that the most widly accepted theory was that Turel was defeated by Raziel and that devouring his soul would provide you with the amplified force projectile ability.
It is also suggested, and suggested so in dialogue, that tuel might have been involved in someway with the chronoplast chamber, possibly by using the chamber, you would then meet Turel as Mobious's line in the finished version is also used in a voice, assumed to be Turel.
It has also been suggested that you meet Turel twice, once from the dialogue found where you never actually meet him, but Talk to him, and a second where he is blocking the path to Kain where Raziel says something similar to "Let me past Turel, I have enough blood on my hands today" I think, but it was also used somewhere else, I shall have to check it as soon as I buy some new speakers.
