Modern Battlestations game

It would be cool if the whole game was modernized so destroyers have missiles and more technology and there are modern aircraft carriers. I wish they make another game.

modernizing weapons and units is something I would not do with BS:M.
It has it's flavor being a WWII title and it should remain like this in my opinion.

There are some "modern" war simulators out there providing the features you are looking for.

It also has to be noted that the whole "mindset" and strategy to be used in a modern war vs. a WWII war is entirely different and such it would require a different "spin" on the game.

There are so many things and way this title could be improved remaining in the WWII time "window". Just check out the suggestion threads to get an idea.

NO modern version please !!!!! I would like the next BSM to have all Jane's fighting ships of WWI and II because they look good and in their era they rocked and their reign ended in the batllefield of the oceans.
All new cruisers and other vessels from this era are UGLY (besides some CV's as shown above in this thread) so plz no modern warfare if we havent even got a mod for this game or a map editor.
Let BSM II provide us with the USN, IJN, Kriegsmarine, Royal Navy, French navy and last but not least La Regia Marina and give us atlantic, arctic, mediteranean and pacific maps to clash again in a new digital virtual legacy with the excellent BSM-engine. That would be worthy of a BSM II:cool:

Absolutly, the modern age of fighting just doesn't really cut it for me.
The further you get from WW2 the harder it gets to encompass the way of modern warfare and still keep the game fun.
It's easier with FPS, i for one am really looking foward to call of duty 4, but naval or air is a big no no!

Have played the latest demo of ace combat 6 on 360 and it was shocking!

On the bright side though, it takes no skill what so ever to play;)

I agree that Ace combat doesnt requires any skills but with the combination of airplanes, subs and ships it could become hard and very enjoyable...;)

Unfortunately i have only PC...i dont have any console, I had Ace Combat 3 on Play Station 1 and i can never forget that game...:rolleyes:

You have to have played all the AC games for the gameplay to be fun. I loved the AC6 demo.

eer, i have played the ace combat games, which is how i formed my opinion.
I don't claim somthing to be rubbish never having played it.
So having played all the games before and the demo for 6, I personnaly found it boring and repetetive.

Ace combat is a wonderful and enjoying game...

The point is that in Battlestations Midway, there could be a modern remake of the game...Thats why an editor should be released...

At least BSM2 should include more WW2 and Germany...

And BSM3 should include the cold war or a modern war period including Russia and USA...;)

Oh so you want a game like DANGEROUS WATERS .
I think the fun of BSM is the WW2 combat. It is a gunfight in part and that type of warfare is now only a secondary weapons system , now BBs are all mothballed or scrap and planes are all jets. WW2 TECH is much more fun for the most part in gameplay .I think eidos has much more work to do on this (bsm) game before allowing it to evolve to a more modern warfare tech.

The new blazing angels demo was extreamly bad, that in my mind is everything BSM 2 should not be!

It's because it's a very different game, i like WW2 as a period in history for combat games and when you have WW2 as the setting but your flying a plane shaped like a small B-2 and firing what seems a never ending supply of air to air missiles it just doesn't appeal to me at all :thumbsup:

I agree with andy, BSM should not take any lessons from blazing angels! I've played the first one and that was bad enough to make me not want to even touch the demo of the second.

what you are talking about is the YB-49, it didn't fly until 1947, also, i didn't like the blazing angles demo either, and you can't say that i didn't like it because i wasn't good, i used to be 14th place in the original blazing angles.
and i say no battlestations modern day, we have already had this conversation about why not many times in the past. modern combat isn't fun because the ranges are so big and the weapons are so powerful, you just fire off your missiles from over the horizon and if one makes it through there is a good chance that it will get a kill and you would never have even seen your enemy

I say modern type warfare games require hardly any skill, It's merely a case of, Fire missile at co-ordinates E5, And the missile does all the work and your target is destroyed.

With WWII games its different because you have to aim the guns (Theoretically) and set the right angle and points of hit such as the belt armour or the deck armour.

Used and invented by the british during WW2.
British bomber pathfinders would drop hundreds of thousands of aluminum strips to confuse German radar.
Now refered to as chaff.
Modern use is to make a larger radar signal away from the ship targeted as many of the not so new radar guided missiles were designed to look for and hit the largest radar signal.
As there won't be a modern game and it's a naval warfare game in WW2, i see no reason that would be included.

Most new counters for missiles are actually other missiles, normally smaller with a shorter range but high agility.

I've played the demo and it sucks, I hate the gameplay. I love the gameplay of BSM but I just threw the idea of modern out there.

A modern naval game would never work, too many missiles and pin point accurate weapons. The glory of sea warfare was the Battleship duel, that's gone today, there'd be nothin' but fighter jets, CV's and little frigates to fight with.
