I just bought Deus Ex GOTY from publisher Sold-out software.
The game runs fine on my laptop, no lag except for when I move the mouse. This applies to menus, cutscenes and just every part of the game so far(the training level anyway). The mouse kind of skips aruond the screen, rendering the game oretty much unplayable.
The game doesn't lag at all when I move my character around or look around with the other buttons, just when moving the mouse.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Do you meet the minimum requirements for the game also have you got direct X 9c on your PC, try this uninstall game from add & remove programs.

Do a defrag the hard drive in system tools, disk clean up, disk repair right click hard drive select from there. Do you have Windows xp or Vista??

My computer exceeds the recommended reqs and I'm on XP.
Everything runs fine except for moving the mouse. As I said, I can look and walk around using the keyboard, just not the mouse

I don't have the game on this computer, so I'm working from memory.

From the main menu, open Options, then Game Settings. You should be able to adjust the mouse sensitivity to correct the problem.

If it's not under Game Settings, it's somewhere in there.

Note also that a wireless mouse may not work well with the game, and that a damaged mouse can exhibit the problems you describe. My mouse suddenly stopped working with Deus Ex even though it worked fine in non-game programs, and when I took a good look, I realized my cat had been yanking on the cords and had damaged the connectors. New mouse, problem fixed.

Hope it's just the settings.

It's not the sensitivity and I've tried more than one mouse

From looking through old posts with mouse issues, it seems the most common solution is to update the video card driver. Worth a try, I guess.

Try this also why don't you ( uninstall the mouse in device manager )
then restart PC to fix that problem. Might be just the game though.

Hey Catman your cat thought your mouse was a real mouse

Maybe are you using the pad which is a mouse or an attached usb mouse you said laser.
