Sorry to be such a dumb-ass, I played my first TR game yesterday, I'm on TR2 - but can't get her to crouch or crawl.
Now I've been stuck in the guardhouse thing on level 1 for nearly 24 hours! (at a slitty opening on a big block). if my hair were still long I'd have torn it out by now, please help a desperate man.

Do you mean you're pressing the crouch and crawl keys and she's no doing anything, or you don't know which they are???

If you don't know it's usually the comma key or the full stop key (on PC) to duck, and to crawl you just press forwards in duck mode ......quack quack

if you've done that and they're not working then try remapping the keys.

many thanks for replying:
I've read on tombraider.net that it was the period or 'L2' keys..
dunno what L2 is!
You're saying comma, but neither work for me...
how do you rework or reassign the keys?

Okey-doke, now assuming you're on a PC;

on your main options screen spin past the passport to the controls option. <press enter>

in the controls menu that appears you'll see the top text says Default Keys and has a little box arouns it indicating it's highlighted, press your left or right key to view the next page, which will be called user keys

Press your down key to select the action you want to re-map <press enter>

http://members.lycos.co.uk/rsid/2.jpg

you'll notice the highlight box has jumped across from the action name to the key associated with it,

http://members.lycos.co.uk/rsid/3.jpg

to assign a different key to do that action now, all you do is press the key you want to use. (after which the highlightbox will jump back to the action name.)

repeat that for every action you want to change. :)

There isn't a crouch function in TR2! Only in TRLR and TRC..... ;)

Not so, you can definately crouch in TR3 as well, and I could have sworn TR2 -though admittedly you can't see the option on the above shots, and now my disks are now playing up and I can't double check!
Duck has always been the full-stop key on my PC, though the manuals say it's something like the Keypad0 inconjuction with one of the cursor keys?!?

Oops.....

Yes TTL, you're right about TR3 (I'm not so familiar with this one)..... Lara can indeed crawl..... :o :o :o

*sits on his knees pleading for forgiveness*

BUT

This is no excuse for letting edTM slave over the key settings, when there isn't anything that he/she can do to make Lara crawl.... ;)

Ok, like other people said, there is no crawl/crouch function in TR2 (and I also should know, I've played it through 4 times) All You have to do is pull the block or push it to the side. To do that, just press action and then the corresponding arrow key.:)

You can't make her crouch or crawl? Nobody can't! This is Lara Croft we're talking about, you know. Maybe if you ask politely on both knees, she will do just that! ... maybe ... :D
