28 here.
Me & Lara go way back since Tomb Raider 1 on Sega Saturn!
Been dating her ever since. ;)
My favorites? Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider 4 & Legend.
Regarding my favourite Tomb Raider... I can say it is the last one Tomb Raider Legend... For the first time I played Tomb Raider III or II, I guess so and as I remember...and I was out of playing games for years mostly because of education, life style, job, and my PC Hardware which was not games intended during this time...
I see if you are over 31 you aren't worth listing
I turned 39 a few weeks ago. It's really annoying when I have to enter my D.O.B on a website and I have to scroll down for ages to find 1968 :o
Glad to see I am not alone on that 'score'! ;)

Deek!!!! I'm 40 in a year from now and I don't have a wrinkle on my face! That Lara is positively....positively...Mrs Danvers from 'Rebecca'! Lara is supposed to be 39 so she'd better forget bungee jumping and concentrate on some facial elastic if that pic is anything to go on! ;)

That Lara is positively....positively...Mrs Danvers from 'Rebecca'!
Speaking of which - There was a great custom level saga a couple years ago called Lara at the Movies in which Lara has adventures based on movies.
Part of it was a level based on Rebecca! It was done in Black and White, and with 40's era sets, objects, and costuming. Good stuff!

Hmmm... It seems that most tomb raiders are younger than 18 or older than 31. I wonder if any sociologists out there can explain it? :)
Under 18 - at home with parents, locked away in room to avoid them.
19-30 - Out getting ratted and enjoying life.
Over 31 - at home with kids, locked away in room to avoid them.
:D

How bizzare! I think I might have seen the original - I have seen a fair few of the old b&w classics. I recently bought a newer version starring Charles Dance and Emilia Fox. Danvers was played by Diana Rigg.
I must get around to learning about level editor and such - I have browsed the boards on that topic but it's all gobbledy gook to me! :o

The poll is kinda deceiving...
Under 18 - 19 members
19-30 - 24 members
Over 31 - 13 members
(as of this sampling)
That also equates to 32 members (polled so far) outside of the 19-30 range

I'm fourteen years. I guess that makes me young my earliest experience with tomb raider was when I was four. My brother was Eight and owned a N64 however my neighbour was the same age as my brother. I used to go over with my brother and play his playstation however he had one game we were not aloud to play called tomb raider which his dad owned. One day we took it and began playing it. It was awesome however it was the last time I played tomb raider untill the release of Angel of Darkness and trailers for Tomb Raider the cradle of life were playing on televison. The year was 2003. I played AOD on my shiney new PS2 but was disapointed because It was nothing like I had remembered. Anyways I was turned off from tomb raider Untill the release of Legend which I bought for my Shiney New 360. I played and played and played. I was almost obsessed with legend. Spitting out time trials unbelieveable. Than I remebered all of the originals and began playing them through all the way up to AOD which to this day still haven't beat because it was not fun or fufilling. I than heard of Anniversary joined the fourms in febuary of 2007 and became a regular member of These fourms and those of TRC. That about covers my TR History. How un interesting huh.

I am less than 18 years old. :) 16 years old to be specific. :)
38 . I played the first TR and remember buying it cause my flatmate said it looked nice.
I had never heard of it at the time and was n't keen, but saw the graphics on the back of the box and was suitably impressed.
I was around 27 then.
I was playing it all the time for about 3 months. Got to Natlas mine and win 95 totally crashed so I had t do it all over again. I nearly cried
Its odd I always thought it came out on pc first, not ps1 , but I must be wrong

30 here... remember my hate playing TR1 on his PC at uni... a bunch of us used to crowd round watching him play. Funny, his missus was called Laura and we were waiting for him to accidentally call her Lara :)
(I think the 90+ is a lie, though)

Lo. :)
Well maybe i am among the "Elders" 55 this year. Still running as fast as i can to catch up with everything. Love this iteration of TR, awesome settings and wonderful controls, gameplay and all. As a sometimes archaeologist, specializing in classical cultural cycles and ecology, I just love the TR scenes and locations, especialy as I don't have to go through the rigors of a dig and mucking around with logistics, crabby team members, impossible transport problems, location country regs, local lifeforms (non human)...and much more to enjoy these sites....just have to keep Laura alive and leaping one jump ahead of the competition. :)

I know is an old thread but I just wanted to say, WOW I didn't expect to see the age 32+ on second place who would play TR. I mean no offence cause seems like I'll never stop playing video games as well lol, but maaan there are lots of people here who play at that age according to the poll...just something I didn't expect.

Warning: Absolutely useless twaddle follows...
If you break it down into three parts, under 18, 18 to 31 and over 31 then it's like this:
under 18 - 49
18 to 31 - 56
over 31 - 36
In that case the over 31 is the smallest group with 18 to 31 being the largest. Of course it's a tilted range. The first range is only about 8 years since there probably aren't any players (on this forum) under 10. The second range (18 to 31) encompasses 13 years. And the third range encompasses about 40 years (figuring 32 to 71).
Looking at it that way, the number of players seems to go down with age. But, based on the posts, it does not appear to be linear. There are apparently more players above 45 than there are between 32 and 45 (from a brief scan). I know from the posts that three of the posters are 49. As with most samples, there appears to be some clumping (clustering) of the data.
I may go back and log all the age/instances into Excel and do a scatter chart. It's not really useful information but it might be interesting. There are 134 posts and 141 respondents to the poll. I'm sure there are some who posted multiple times. So we wouldn't get an accurate showing to support the poll because a number of people who responded to the poll did not post their actual age.
[EDIT] As I expected, the scatter chart shows that there is a parabolic curve that increases rise with age (fewer people of the same age as you progress). There were only 74 discreet ages (data points) but it's probably fairly representative. I don't know exactly what the margin for error is but it's approximately a 51% sample of poll respondents.
http://www.crystalblack.com/graphics/TR_Age_Dist.jpg
One interesting artifact of the chart is that there appears to be a bit of a gap in the mid twenties. Perhaps those people either don't spend much time on forums or just don't play the game much (too busy out getting smashed or chatting up dates perhaps). Each little blue diamond represents one respondent in the data set and about two in the poll. XCom responded in the 91 category. He was excluded from the data set as extreme data points are generally dismissed as "noise" (Sorry XCom...).

Exactly. Anything in you that isn't hydrogen wasn't around when the universe was formed. All heavier elements were formed by fusion within stars. We are all made of stardust.
The world has changed a lot in my lifetime. At least, in the US, it has. I can't say about other countries.
Back when I was 7 years old (1965), we had no home computers, no video games, no calculators, rotary dial phones (no such thing as touch tone) if you had a telephone with a dialer (or a phone at all), no cell phones, no pagers, most TV's were black and white, no cable TV, no satellite TV, only two or three channels on TV (ABC, CBS and NBC). And most homes had only one television if they had one at all. Most cars did not have air conditioning. Most homes did not have air conditioning. Most homes with air conditioning only had window units. Most homes in the south had little or no insulation. No microwave ovens. We made our popcorn on the stove top. Most refrigerators were tiny compared to the 24 cubic foot units that are common today. There were few if any "super" markets. We went to the green grocer, the bakery, the butcher then to the dry goods store, the hardware store. Gas stations sold petrol and oil and maybe tires -- no groceries, sundries, etc. You didn't pump your own gas. The attendant cleaned your windscreen for you. We paid our bills by check or just went by the utility office and paid in cash. Most people didn't have credit cards and actually paid cash for what they bought. News broadcasts actually had separate segments for "opinion" and news. No fax machines. The Internet wasn't even an idea, yet. REA was still a big deal. Many people didn't even have telephones. When something broke, you had it fixed. You didn't just throw it away and buy another. You certainly didn't just throw away something because you wanted a new one with new features. If it said "Made In Japan" you knew it was garbage. Gasoline (petrol) was generally only about 18 cents a gallon (US). You could buy a gallon of gas, a 6.5 ounce Coke and a Snickers for a quarter.
Poor people then were _REALLY_ poor compared to today. Today's "poor" in the US would have been middle class in 1965.
To be poor in 1965 in the US meant you went hungry a lot. No telephone, no electricity, your only source of heat for warmth and cooking was a wood burning stove, dirt floors in your house, walls you could see outside through the cracks, it rained indoors when it rained. Very few poor people had a car. They didn't have a TV (no electricity anyway). Most did not have indoor plumbing (no running water and an outhouse). Most poor people's houses were one room shacks. Some went to the launderette to do their laundry. But most did their laundry in the local creek. Most only had one or two changes of clothes. And those were usually hand-me-downs. Whole families slept in a single bed partly because there was only room for one bed, partly because they could only afford one bed and partly to keep warm in the winter.
I never experienced being poor in 1965 (thank God), but I know people who did.
What did we do for fun? We actually went outside and played games or make believe with each other, face to face. Or we watched TV. Or we read something. Or we did our school work (with pencil and paper).
The world has changed an incredible amount in the last 40+ years. I cannot imagine what it was like to grow up in my parents' time. (1930s, the Great Depression, WW 2, etc.)

Sorry, but I believe that 4 Billion years is a conservative guess at the age of the Earth. (That would be the 3rd planet from our local star) at this stage not yet totally congealed, but with many complex atomic structures formed.
Or at least that's the way I seem to remember it!

33. Male. Hispanic. Goatee. 5'11. 198 lbs. Nice smile. Single. Poor and broke. Live in Ohio. Tired of Ohio. Want to move out of Ohio. Waiting for Resident Evil 5. And Tomb Raider 8. And Grandia 4. And Soul Calibur 4. And Tokyo Xtreme Racer 4.
Oh, did I mention I'm 33?
Also, I know I'll get lots of tomatoes thrown at me since there is so much love in this room for Tomb Raider 2: I hated Tomb Raider 2. I was hoping 3 would fix it, but I never finsihed 3 either. Tomb Raider 2 was terrible. :(

Hey Guys n Gurlz,
Let's see the range of players ages who like Lara And Since When They Started Playin' it
And Which Part You Played First
Let's Start
I'm 18 (Just Turned 18)
Started When I Was 9
Played TR II : Starring Lara Croft
Started playing the TR's at the age of 19. I am 26 for another few weeks.
Started with the Gold release of TR2.
It was my first approach to this type of game, so I spent like 2 hours before figuring how to get out of the damn water and lose the shark.
I then played TR2 gold, the other TR2 demo, then I got TR2, then played TR3, then tried TR1 and hated it, then tried TR4 and choked on all the sand. (never finished it, never intend to), then I played TRLA, TR Cronicles, Tried AOD, hated it, still do.
I mostly loved TR2 for the extraordinary scenery combination and story fluidity, and close it came TR3.
I consider those, the best releases of EIDOS as it involves Tomb Raider.

I'm 14, almost 15:D
My earliest memory of Tomb Raider is I was watching my sister playing TR1 or TR3, I'm not sure about the game, so I like TR since I was 5/6 years old, even though I didn't play it, it was very scary.
Two years ago, I read about Legend in some games magazines, I bought it and I loved it. So, I can say I am "officially" a TR fan since I was 12/13 years old.

i am 35.:(
first TR was TR3 Adventure of lara croft, then TR4 then TR2 and TR5.
i hope i'll go on playing TR when you can download yourself to the computer:scratch: :p
Tis okay, Zakker, you are not alone. Me too. 35 here too. :o
I'm still fairly new for gaming TR (or any game), AOD was released before I got into it. I tried Chronicles first, didnt have a clue what to do, so started back at the beginning.

I played the 1st Tomb Raider back in 1996 and Tomb Raider 2 on '97, then I got a Ps2 but I missed the Angel of Darkness, I only played a few games for the Ps2. Then I got Lara back on my 360 console through Legend and Anniversary on 2007. I'm really grateful for the TR: Anniversary! :nut:

I am 20 years old now.
The first PlayStation game that I played was Tomb Raider II (1997, right? Or was it 1998?).
That's my favorite one.
And then after beating that one, I went to look for the first game and kinda disappointed with the graphics but still got hooked by the story and gameplay.

TR1 - I'll never forget the time I threw my first flare. Good times. I just turned four around the time the game released.
Though I saw TR1 onwards, I wasn't able to own a TR game until Legend. I have Anniversary added to my collection presently and now I've just pre-ordered Underworld.
I just turned 16 three weeks ago (as some people have noticed on the thread that released on the 7th, News Flash - SINGSTAR90210 TURNS 16!) and it felt nice to share the joy with the world and it increased with the beginning of the '08 Beijing Olympics happening on the morning of my birthday :)
