This thread is for all us old fans out there who prefer the old controls and are extremely annoyed and disspointed at what Eidos have done. I'm fed up at being accused of whining and little things or not having a proper argument. All ye old skool fans come together in my thread and raise your voice.

   sorry but dat made me laugh
ok im over it now!
I thinkn the only reason u dont get 2 ur point across and stuff is because your sooooo negative so im not an "old school raider" or what ever your calling it. old controls r fine but new control are better in my opinon because it makes it more fluid and yes in legends you couldnt rele miss a jump but it was cyrstials first time. And well Eidos why the hell are you dissapointed with them!!!!! sorry im still laughing at what you said

I dont like old controls. ( turn left or right after that go forward e.t.c.)
New control is much better and makes me feel full control over Lara.

If we're talking about controls, I personally prefer the classic controls and thought you had more control, but I can live with Legend's controls.

I liked Core Design's controls because they were more precise, but I like Crystal Dynamic's controls because they give you more freedom and they're a lot more fluid.

I hate it when you say "old school Tomb Raiders"
Escuse moi, but, I've played TR since 1998, (TR3), loved it, played the old ones, and went on from there.
And, ::surprise!:: I LOVED the new controls.
Please stop stereotyping.
PS- If I spelled escuse moi wrong, sorry. I'm taking Spanish, not French...:o

well to be honest i feel the old controls make the game more accessable to players of all ages, i myself being 22 and a gamer had no real problems, i however enjoyed the saftey of the old controls, however my dad who got heavily into TR with 3, went to play AOD and gave up, he just couldnt control it, he would die all the time and now no longer plays the game, i think this is a shame and it isolates perhaps the more novice gamers, or the younger or older...im not saying my dads an OAP lol but i think it must be his responses are slower or he is less accurate, i dont know.
oh, and swimming on legends was a blooming nightmare, please dont give us that twaddle again, i wanted to rip my eyeballs out!
lol yeah i've been playing tomb raider since 1996/1997 (i don't quite remember what year but it was one of them) and i prefer the legends one... HOWEVER this doesn't mean i like tomb raider legend. but i'm not quite sure what this thread was all about, the controls or just the old tomb raiders in general...

I think pot is trying to tell us that the old school gamers like the old controls... thing is, I think a lot of them prefer the new ones... (me included)

The controls fit the environments better, I think. Old-style TR was all about jumping, while Legend-style is about the fluidity of movement. I love the sense of freedom Legend gives, but then again, I did prefer the precise art of the previous games. Also, I preferred to be able to control Lara with the keyboard alone.
About 'old-school' - I've always taken it to mean preferring the old way of doing things. I could well be wrong, but doesn't that mean you can't generalise about old-school players because the term itself means preferring old style things?
I could have got completely the wrong end of the stick, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_school didn't help me much :o They say, 'The term "old school" may be effectively equivalent to "They just don't make 'em like this anymore". ' So perhaps you're not 'old-school' just because you've played since '96?

How Lara controls isn't a big issue for me (provided they work properly). I mean, I don't really care HOW she gets from point A to point B.
I just want it to be a challenge to figure out how to get from point A to point B. I don't want an arrow pointing "this way to the exit!"
Legend was too obvious. Lara's moves were fine, but it became follow the Yellow Brick Road after a while, except no scary forests or monkeys to haul me off and get me lost.

lmao:lol:
I agree with you there. I never really got lost... maybe once in Nepal, but that's because I went backwards on accident. oops. In the old TRs, it was custom that I would get lost backtracking on a puzzle, or stuck in a dark area with NO MORRE FLARES! AH!!!
