With the last 2 installments of Legacy of Kain being a flop, will CD be able to save what was a great game series? I thought of this during one of my classes, and I would like to give my two cents on this matter. So how could CD improve and draw in a bigger crowd of fans....heres what I think...

1.Get a face lift.
Take a tip from Zelda and have a different art direction every few games. It will make the game feel fresh again and possibly bring in a new audience. Kain has looked the same since 1999, the difference is just more polygons. Make the characters more stylized and I guarantee you will have a gem in your hands....in the form of a game of course.

2.More gameplay and less story.
LoK is known for its great story but what happened to the gameplay? It left and was substituted in with monotonous tasks, for instance getting 10 different elements for the soul reaver. After the second time its not as fun. Make each part of the game fresh and have different objectives for once. Also, redefine the genre you choose to make the next LoK for. I don't want a second rate Zelda or Devil May Cry game. Put some effort into the game engine and not the graphics. Bringing back actual boss battles would be a welcomed addition. Cd, just a suggestion: having a "life bar" on the top of the screen does not constitute an enemy being a boss battle...its just a glorified enemy.

3.Put it out there!!
Do you know how many Final Fantasy or Zelda commercials I've seen on TV. Too many to count. Do you know how many LoK commercials I've seen? One. And it was weird. If CD put out some catchy commercials for its LoK games, I bet more people would buy it.

4.Make it for the Wii.
I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but I don't care. The Wii would be the prime choice to bring Kain back. Wouldn't you enjoy swinging the Reaver? I would. Plus, its cheaper to make software for the wii than it is for the 360 and the ps3 Also CD, why not remake the past games to the Wii, that will bring in a new audience as well. But don't do a ½ attempted job at it, redo the graphics, gameplay, and bring in new additions to the fray.

5. One more thing...
Bring Raziel back. Seriously who kills off the character that brought the series back to life...plus hes just really cool. I mean come on his laugh is amazing.

(Just so everyone knows, Number 5 is a joke and not to be taken seriously.)

Overall, I think if CD played its cards right, LoK can reclaim its glory that it had back in the Soul Reaver days. This may sound like I'm not a fan of LoK games, but I am. I'm one of the biggest fans you will see. I pray everyday to see an actual soul reaver blade made...but not yet... :(

Anyway, this is up for discussion what tips do you think CD NEEDS to hear before they think of making a new LoK game?

the art direction on BO2 was significantly different to the other games.

Also, Defiance had a different art style to the soul reaver games. Everything was more cartoony (look at the monster in the underworld compared to SR)

If Raziel comes back it will just be a cheap way of getting sales. He died. He died for a good reason and his death was final. If he comes back his sacrifice will just have been pointless.

"And Raziel's selfless sacrifice has shown me the true hop..."

"Hey Kain."

"Raziel?"

"Yep. I'm back... again. Turns out my cyclical destiny means that as long as CD needs sales, I'm not going anywhere."

Pointless. And I think changing the art style for the game would be a bad decision. The environments are appropriately Gothic. The characters are designed to look 'period' but at the same time new.
And I don't deny the Wii is a great console, but its a one trick pony. Once you've played one Wii game you've played them all. None of the other LoK games let you actually swing the Reaver and they were all suitably entertaining for me (and all of you too considering we're all slavering over the forums since the magazine article!) The next game should firstly an adventure game, then an action game like SR1. There was combat in it, but it wasn't the focus of the game.

The 5th reason was a joke...I just read that so many people are complaining that they want Raziel to be back, I put it in there as a joke, hah. Anyway. When I mean change the art style I didn't mean to not make it gothic anymore. I really enjoyed the BO2 style that they used, it was both gothic with a little bit of technology in there.
