I haven't noticed a comprehensive ship class list and I was thinking it might be a good idea to have one.

First, I think the class type initials should be listed next to the name prior to launching it from the shipyard. That would help clear up confusion among new players and reduce the learning curve a little bit.

Here's what I can remember off the top of my head:

United States:
Ships:
Battleship (BB): Reknown Class
Cruiser (CA): Northampton Class
Destroyer (DD): Fletcher Class
Submarine (SS): Narwhal Class

Planes:

Fighter: F4F Wildcat
Dive Bomber: SBD Dauntless
Torpedo Bomber: TDF Avenger

Japanese:
Ships:
Battleship (BB): Kongo Class
Cruiser (CA): Tone Class
Destroyer (DD): Fubuki Class
Submarine (SS): Type B Class

Planes:
Fighter: A6M Zero
Dive Bomber: D4Y Judy
Torpedo Bomber: B5N Kate
