While it was sad we did not get a new LoK game this year, it was an awesome year for games, what is everyone's top 5 favorite games of 2006? Mine are:

1. Final Fantasy XII
2. Zelda Twilight Princess
3. Hitman Blood Money
4. Gears of War
5. MegaMan Powered Up

Hell, I don't think I even played 5 new games last year. Or at least, games that came out that year. I've been having fun with Bully though. Reminds me of the Kunio games.

Zubritchzilla, you're one-up on me. I bought maybe 3 new discs, and two of them were from 2003. (One from 2005) Then I stuck in some discs that I bought at least 3 years ago.

I'm in the same boat. (With the exception of LoZ: Twilight Princess - which, in all fairness, I haven't started so I can't exactly declare it a favorite yet. ;)

Wow. Last year I bought:

Zelda
Red Steel
Hitman Blood Money
Tomb Raider Legends
Gears of War
Call of Duty 3
Burnout Revenge
ONimusha Dawn of Dreams
New Mario Bros
Castlevania Portrait of Ruin
Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories
MegaMan Powered Up
MegaMan Maverick Hunter X
MegaMan ZX
Oblivion
.hack//GU
Final Fantasy XII
Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition

and what did not come out in 2006:

Silent Hill 2-4

I quickly got rid of Red Steel and Oblivion, as those sucked.

Hmm, games I bought last year...

1. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
2. Battlefield 2
3. F.E.A.R (I think, all the years are merging)
4. Rayman: Raving Rabbits
5. Wii Play
6. Half Life 2: Episode One

I think that's about it.

Loved Oblivion to bits, BF2 was okay, F.E.A.R was ace, as was Rayman, Wii play was a bit of a let-down, but HL2: Ep1 was fantastic!

Tomb Raider - Legend

Half Life 2 - Episode One

TES IV - Oblivion

Call of Juarez (Came out for Europe and Australiain 2006, US will only have it in Q2 - 2007)

And thats all. They were all great, legend and episode one were too short, oblivion is gigantic and Call of Juarez was very different from what we are used to in that genre.

I think what you just said just about sums it up. i only played it a little (i don't have time/patience for games anymore) but it's a complete work of art

The only bad thing about that game is that it ends. I really hope they continue the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus series.

It's been a while since I've posted (student teaching, ugh). This year I think I only got a few games that might have come out in 2006. They are:

Tomb Raider: Legend
Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
Shadow of the Colossus
Okami (Christmas present)

Of those, I've only beaten Shadow. I loved it so much I bought it after I'd already beaten it. I agree with Zulgbrtzchllha on this one. At first I lost interest for a while, but the ending hooked me.

Lego Star Wars is fun, but I actually like the first one better (better 2 player and camera).

Tomb Raider I liked.

Okami is what I play when I can squeeze in some spare time. The visuals are impressive, and I really enjoy restoring the devastated land. The voices are some kind of gibberish, which is annoying at first, but you get used to it very quickly.

F.E.A.R

Half Life² - Episode One

Company of Heroes (best RTS i`ve played in years)

Gothic 3 (i`ve been a major fan of the series ever since the first game...too bad this third installment is one of the most unfinished games i`ve ever played)

and even though it`s from 2005 i only got to play PoP: T2T this past year...

sorry...don`t have a top 5...just a top 4

4.) WoW & Burning Crusade Expansion (PC) (Yes, I know, I'm off my years.)
5.) Dragon Quest VIII (PS 2) (Didn't start playing in earnest until January of 06, so it counts for me).

I saw that after-the-fact. My bad. ;) Welcome back!

Rio ~ I'm really not digging Kingdom Hearts 2 as much as I did the first installment. I'm roughly at the point where I'm going back through each level to complete the additional missions and whatnot. While it's a good game, I can't really put it on the same level as the first at this point.

Few sequels ever stand up to their progenitors. *coughs and looks around meaningfully*

KH II is one of those titles you either get really, really into, or play on a surface level. Both are valid ways to enjoy the game, but I put the disc into my PS 2 knowing I wasn't going to stop until I'd hit all 99's, maxed out all of my forms (including the Ultimate form), and found and destroyed all of the secret bosses (and since you're not done, I won't name them). There's plenty to do, but you're definitely right in that some of it becomes very, very repetitive.

Go back to Hollow Bastion at some point, to the overlook of Maleficent's old castle. Just make sure your levels are in the high-80's to low 90's when you do. An old friend will be waiting to say "hi."
