Hola. I purchased Just Cause over the weekend. It's the retail DVD-ROM version. When I insert the game disc into my PC nothing happens. I'm running Windows XP SP2 and the drive is a Lite-On DL-DVD-RW with the most recent firmware. I haven't tried the disc on another PC yet, which I will do tonight, but it really doesn't matter if it won't run on mine.

(update: used the game disc at work and it worked fine. updated my DVD drive to the latest firmware and still no luck.)

Any help would be appreciated.

Have a look at this thread (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=63095). No guarantee that any of the given solutions will work but you might give them a try. Especially what Xcom said in his post might be the cause of your problem.

Did you by any chance install games that use StarForce copy protection? (list (http://www.glop.org/starforce/list.php)). It's known to have all kinds of negative side-effects on CD/DVD drives.

I have X3 and Xpand Rally installed but I aquired both through Steam so I'm assuming that Starforce is not involved but I don't know that for sure.
