Problems at Rufus Shinra fight

Hi, having a problem proceeding on FF7 PC right before the fight with Rufus Shinra during the early part of the game. I just fought the robot on the elevator and I get to the screen where you can modify Cloud's materia/equipment/etc before you fight Rufus, but I can't exit out of this menu!!! I'm using a laptop and have the laptop patch installed, and i've tried just about every key combination I can think of with no luck - which is very frustrating. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Found a solution to the problem. Had to change the keyboard settings within the config menu, which fixed the problem. Posting this here in case anyone else has a similar problem :)
