Hi CD and Eidos,

There is a lot of speculation that there may not be a game anymore on LOK considering how fragmented the crew are....the principal writor is gone...the crew are all working on something else...

I loved defiance. I loved it more than other lok games for the combat aspect. I had soo much fun with TK and combos. Yet...in all I loved the story. It was soo involving. It felt deeper and as involved as the lord of the rings itself.

If you do not make any games....atleast just make us a novel or a something like a script of the entire lok story all the way from the very first game.

I think that would be the best way to end the series.

And if they can't do that, perhaps they could release Amy Hennig's LOK notes so we could see what was planned for future LOK games?

Exactly

I'm not a big reader but I would buy the LoK novel

(tacitly agrees with LOKFan and Gate-7)

Unfortunately, and realistically, neither is going to happen.

Eidos doesn't write books, as far as I am aware, and I am doubting very much that they'd hire a writer/publisher to make a novel. Of course, then again, they did allow UC to acquire the license to produce the sword (which, sadly, looks to not be happening with UC's bankruptcy now...).They also aren't going to, for legal and ethical reasons, just hand us over Amy Hennig's notes on what she wanted for the series. Even if they wanted to, (which would be silly for them to hand over said notes and have fans produce a game off of their product, fully taking any potential profit they still may be thinking about making off of this license out of their hands), all notes remaining are their property by law alone.

Would it actually be the property of Amy though? I'm not exactly sure. For example, right now J. Michael Straczynski is selling his Babylon 5 scripts in books and has no connection with WB on this since they are his property, and he also puts in memos he wrote in e-mails and such to the other producers of the show that contain alternate ways the story could have gone and such.
Is this similar at all or would those notes be owned by Crystal Dynamics? Not that I even think she would do this since it wouldn't be much to sell and it might not have that big a market.

They could introduce a new series and get us hooked simply by advertising "the remaining secrets of LOK are revealed in the extras." That would match Eidos' form factor and get an (admittedly shrinking) fanbase ready-made for the new series.

It was stated back when that she left all of her notes with the team at CD, entrusting them with the notes, plans, etc. So, in that case, it seems that CD has ownership of them. Perhaps (and I would have, if I were her, or if it were possible to do -- I hope she did this) she made a deal whereby she will still get royalties off of anything made using those notes, plans, whatever. What is completely different for sure from Straczynski’s situation is that CD and Eidos, more importantly, have ownership of the Legacy of Kain license, meaning she couldn’t sell anything written or proposed that uses this license.

OK. I just have to ask, because I've wondered and wondered, and have no idea. Must be a 'lost in translation' problem. What is this supposed to mean?

You know, when I first came here, I also had the impression that a mob of LOK fans would be awesome and scary. I wonder if we could be spurred to action, especially with so many having to cross an ocean or otherwise travel a long distance.

would match Eidos' form factor = a game disc, like they're used to, in response to the post that argued the Eidos doesn't make books.
