Show yourself in the forum. If you want other people to know who they are writing to, use this thread to post your pic.

How to post a picture! 70

1) Upload the image from your hard drive to the Internet. If you don't have your own webspace that allows hot-linking, you can use following free websites to host your images.

http://imageshack.us
http://tinypic.com (note: images get removed if not viewed for 90 days)
http://photobucket.com (note: requires free registration)
http://imagevenue.com

2) Once you have the URL of your uploaded image, use forum's tags to link the image. Example:
[img]http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/7317/larauo5.jpg
when used in a post, this code will output an image

Misc. notes:
You don't have to hot-link the image. You can also post a normal, text link to the image using tags. Eg: [url]http://img125.imageshack.us/my.php?image=larauo5.jpg
Make sure your links are working. I.e. don't post from private albums or otherwise protected addresses. Sometimes you may see the image while others cannot because the image may be cached in your browser. Clear your browser's cache and reload the page to check this. If you don't know how to do it, read this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bypass_your_cache#Instructions_for_vario us_browsers). (tnx for the tip, rabid)

You need the ability to host the image. I suppose if you're set up as a server you could. *shrugs* My advice to you would be to locate an external host. If you have an FTP client, you may want to check www.easyspace.com. They offer 25 MB for free. Or you can see if someone will host your pic for you. :)

Not rude at al Laramaniac.

As to thoughts of others that I may have actually been a blackman, it is logical given the name.

theBlackman is a literal translation of a nick-name I had when I was younger.

Dhu Glas, is the name in Gaelic. Dhu means, dark and forboding, mysterious, evil, secret or hidden. Glas means man.

The current usage is corrupted to Douglas, a name you all know.

In Gaelic history there were many examples using Dhu to denote men of power and savagery. Donal Dhu, or Donald the Black, an evil conniving, border raiding, clans cheif being just one.

In ancient times the Scots carried a small to medium dagger hidden in their boot top. This was called a Skean Dhu. Skean meaning knife, or dagger, and Dhu meaning hidden.

Now-a-days, those daggers are openly worn at the hip, and or in the boot top, and in traditional costume are called Skean Dhu.

This entire rambling a lot more than you probably wanted to know. :D

DaveJ You have a good imagination. Over the years, I probably have blabbed enough to give you suffiecient data to put the mental image together.

All in all, the photoes in this thread, show a pretty good sampling of all ages and I must say You all look pretty good!

Pleased to make your acquaintance.

Ok, I've opened a free account with easyspace and I'll still have to receive an email with my account details. Now, please, tell me (and do forgive my ignorance): how do I upload something to easyspace and then, how do I upload it from there to here?

From "there" to here is easy. Just type the URL of the file.

Here is an example: http://nativeartdesign.net/page4.html

In your case it would be EASYSPACE/folder/pic

Look at any post with a picture. Right click and check properties. You should see the URL much as I showed it in the post.

You need to make it a HYPER link *******instead of the straight link I posted.

If you choose any post with a Pic then use the QUOTE button, you can see how the IMG link is constructed.

It's only a move from the kata Shisochin,(see, so, chin fro those who don't know) one of the katas required for the test. If anyone is interested in more pictures, you can check out
the web site (http://www.canadagoju.com/) . Just click on the black belt gradins. Mine was on Nov., 2003. I also hear, although I hadn't checked recently, that this position is in the movie 'The Karate kid'. (wax on, wax off. That's great!:D ) Maybe, some day, I might move out and open my own Dojo. It was the Wine Train in Napa Valley last weekend. Lots of fun and my day was made by a nice looking man who kept wanting to look at me. Very flattering. Made me feel nice.

Well how 'bout that, underneath the green beard and T-shirt is a fine looking gentleman. Very nice, Deek.

You and Blowhard look good in hats. I've tried numerous hats, but I just don't look right in a hat.

I love that patented grin you have, Blowhard. You could make a sig out of that (oh right, nevermind).

How old? It's original but there's no date. It might have a date under the inner band or lining but I'm not touching it. Probably 1920s or 30s? It's a little thread bare if you know what I mean ;) I can tell you it's made by Stylepark of New York and is "made by hand" and has a registered patent for something :o
I got it from ebay 9 years ago...has ebay been around that long? Hard to believe :D
How about your Hat Deek, does it have a history?

Ruum, yes indeedy, that smile is certainly mine. :lmao: I've never though of good looking in conjunction with my face but I'll take the compliment, thanks :)
Now you want to see a hat, THE IS a HAT! :D :rasp:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v404/BLOWHARD/puttingontheritz.jpg
It's genuine (pronounced gen-U-WINE) Beaver. No date on it either but it's pretty old looking. I had been looking through most of the 1980s for this hat but never found one under $50.00 until I found this at a St Vincent de Paul for $10.00 in 88 or 89 :D
Deek, I bet you have one too :)

OK PEOPLE, post a picture in your favorite hat :D

Now you want to see a hat, THE IS a HAT!... Deek, I bet you have one too :)
The bowler/doiby history - you bet..
It belonged to my great grandfather, circa 1912. It's stamped Saks Fifth Avenue on the inside.
And, yep, yer right!... I got one, too!...
http://www1.eboard.com/boards/17/31/59/SkustingsFlagEmporium/att-1787059/steampunks.jpg
Can't see it all too well in this shot of me and Brooklyn Gal,
but it also belonged to my great grandfather, not sure what it's made of... it doesn't say.
And I can't recall the name of the manufacturer at the moment, (I'll get back to ya on that - I have researched the company and found out a lot - just can't remember the name) but it dates to around 1898 or so!

NICE! I love cool old hats, especially top hats!
Now we're stuck with a baseball hat culture? :( :p
I'd like to hear and see more about your top hat, it's very cool you've got a family connection. I have my Grandfather's fedoras, and of course in the pre 1950s or so, if you were a gentleman you NEVER left the house without a hat ;)
I don't have any of my Great Grandfather's hats but I have his homemade muzzle loading black powder derringer :rasp:

know someone that has been drooling for months now to get her hands on an authentic aviator cap like the ever-lovely Brooklyn Girl is wearing in the photo (complete with authentic goggles).
Got that cap at Kaufman's Army & Navy (http://www.kaufmansarmynavy.com/copy.html) in NYC. It's only a replica, and they also have replicas that are in brow (which is what authentic period ones would be. They were never made in black. They do also have authentic ones as well, both plain and sherpa lined, but a they were bit pricier)
I'm still keeping my own eyes out for better goggles. The ones in the pic are only plastic cyberpunk goggles. There's probaly loads of places online where you can find what you're looking for. I just tend to not buy things online.

@Blowhard... My mistake - the hats belonged to my Great-Grandfather's Father-in-Law, making them my Great Great Grandfather's ! LOL!
Still, the dates are about right.
The topper was manufactured by Browning, King & Co.
My wife is always talking about the demise of the fedora wearing man!

Speaking of pictures, some friends invited me over today during the snow storm, little did I know I would end up helping to shovel thier driveway before I could even get my car in! :p

I find that a very dark grey works with black in limited amounts.
And, of course, a red Komerex Stella goes well.

I love the Flying V... those guitars are beautiful... :D

Thanx CKNZ. I finally located a good, trustworthy luthier so "the wife" goes in soon for a long-overdue refretting job - it's almost fretless right now just from wear. Also swapping in some different pickups and putting on a Washburn "Wonderbar" trem I picked up on eBay. It was discontinued by Washburn (stupidly) but is unique in that it has the same general quality of a Kahler or Floyd Rose but uses a torsion bar instead of springs & therefore requires no routing of my precious V. 'Very psyched to finally be pulling the trigger on this.

I'm also going to have them put in a Chandler Tone-X tone pot, which is essentially a wah-wah circuit mounted in a push-pull tone pot. I only ever used the wah to get the Schenker/Santana-type half-open midrange voicing anyway, and all reports are that it sounds killer. The downside is that I'll have to mount the 9V battery outboard on velcro or somesuch. I will not do any routing on this axe! I gave my trusty Morley wah to bluesman Don Haney (http://www.donhaney.net) a couple years ago 'cause he said he didn't have one, but I don't think he uses it. He moved back to Deadwood awhile ago too so I never see the dude. 'Sokay, the wah pot means one less gadget to lug around.

'Gonna be guitar heaven when it's all done ~ sigh ~

So I was walking down some steps at work Wednesday, twisted my left foot, overcompensated and twisted the HELL out of my right one on the last step down. I hobbled to a short concrete wall next to the stairs and sat down, then fainted dead away from the pain (plus my ******* abnormally-low BP.)

Amazing the amount of damage the human face can inflict on a standard sidewalk when there's nothing between to stop it.

'Next time I start feeling dizzy I'll remember to sit on the ground. The ankle isn't broken, fortunately, just some trashed ligaments, and the eye will just have to look & feel like raw steak for awhile. Life is an adventure; sometimes the adventure blows.

Now, time to spend the rest of my sick day with some serious medication: A pool, a chair, a good book (Vince Flynn's 'Term Limits,') a fat stogie, and a dram or three of Lagavulin 16.

Ruum, I think it was just contemplation of how pathetic it is to have gotten so messed up by a maneuver any reasonably-coordinated three-year-old can manage without difficulty. Give me a few more years and a Basic Motor Skills 101 class or two.

That cat & mouse thing is from an engraving by a guy named Droguett. I've been trying to find another one for an old friend, but with zero luck - as soon as I find something I like, they take it off the market. (Hey, perfect paranoia is perfect awareness.)

That's some tasty Photoshop Goran :D Or is it something else? I count 12 pictures plus 3 for the enlarged action figures. Is that right? Home I take it? No matter how it was done, it's a really spiffy picture!!! :D :D :D
Now do one with Catsuit :rasp:

BTW, it kind of has a Kraftwerk record cover feeling to it :)

Thank you. :) Yes, this is our home. We took a lot more than 12 pictures. But the 12 you see went together best. Although I should have added one more sitting in the chair right in front of the camera.

Yes, I should make one with my lovely wife. Good idea.

But the lifesize action figures are actually real lifesize action figures. No photoshopping involved. ;)

Huh? Pretty cool, although I know they exist, those look identical to the action figures I have sitting on my TV :o Obviously full sized maquettes from the same mold run...or at least that's what I'd say :D

It was called Star Trek World Tour and was a mobile version of what they have in Las Vegas. I worked there as an actor (if you can call it that).

But I think it depends on if you like the Smith or not ;) The US has a BIG problem with the gay/not gay thing, that's probably something to do with it. But come to think about it, I don't think I've ever met a girl who likes them, but I know plenty of guys into the Smiths
The only song by them I can remember liking was How Soon is Now. It's kind of minimal in both words and music, and I can't tell if that's good or not. Still, they had a pretty good sound :)
I think I'll stick with my Heaven 17 though :)
I don't suppose you ever got into Suicide? I always feel kind of sad they are so unknown now.

Yep, it is old people music...and then again, it isn't. It used to be the NEW thing!
For me, and many like me, looking back at music that has been, and still stands the test of time, is the only way to go. So much new music isn't really new, it's derivative of what's come before. That point can be argued of course ;)
My 2 cents, if the new music of today is still remembered and vital 20 years from now, it will have earned the right to be listened too :D

I still have the Penthouse and Pavement record with the
endless groove on side a or b, can't remember which one.

You know, Omega, I think I like every picture of you, even with a hat fallen over your face or whatnot. You seem photogenic to me.

Hey, another Rino pic. Cool.

Oh, so THAT's LaraCroftRox, our thread-starting maniac lol!

And there's Blond Croft. You do look older than 14, but you're still cute. I saw your pic in the TR General forum too. In fact, you and LaraCroftRox look so cute, I just wanna hug you to bits!

Hey Domina, very nice. I like your other pics in the TR General forum too. Nice to see you care about our furry friends, both at home and work.

There's Blowhard. You were actually sitting on a park bench, right? And you added a car body, a headrest on a car seat, seatbelt in the background, added fingerprints to the door frame, and I see you improved your hair line, added some grey to your beard and shades to make you look distinguished. You certainly are a master graphics artist, Blowhard. ;)

It's been said before, and I'll repeat that we have some very attractive members in this forum. :)

This goof tried to eat my tuna sandwich just as I snapped this - A cheapo cellphone shot but it turned out ok...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/KasigiYabuSama/JPL_headlight-tester_sm.jpg

There is an entire herd of deer that hang out on the campus that have been here for multiple generations. We use them as headlight-testers for the spacecraft, heh-heh. Just kidding! They're so tame it's almost sickening - not a natural predator in the world, and they're so used to people walking past them that they usually just stare at you like "What're you doing here?" 'Think they own the place... I almost tripped over a fawn one day when I finished at the ATM and turned to walk away - he's just standing there munching on a shrub, staring. Idiot.

On a couple of somber notes, a few years back an employee actually died when he crashed his bicycle into one - I just got the email and it didn't say if the animal was hurt, though I assume...

Maybe as a karma thing, yesterday afternoon a young deer slammed into the windows at the main cafeteria building, then he freaked, turned around and jumped over a railing to his death on the pavement about ten feet below. :( Some of the adolescents go a little crazy once in awhile, usually when they're going into rut. Generally they're Quaalude-level mellow though. Anyhow, that's my filler until I get a mug shot that's interesting...

Psshhht - don't ask me - they seem to have a major thing for snakes though. Maybe it's the Conan snake cult, and James Earl Jones is gonna step out onto the main stage and have a cultist do the high dive.

Actually this is a Cambodian temple, but located at a humongous park (about the size of Disneyland) south of Bangkok called "Ancient Thai" - I don't know if they took temples brick-by-brick from other places and reassembled them there, or if they're all replicas. If it's the latter then someone did a hell of a job with weathering, on this one and a dozen others.

And thanks CatSuit - as soon as I fish out my cam's memory cards I'll post some more from Ayutthaya, which is definitely the real deal: a Thai temple north of BKK dating back umpty-hundred years and which was burned to a crisp by invading Burmese (do Burmese do anything but invade Thailand? It's like a questionnaire: "Nationality?" "Burmese." "Occupation?" "Invading Thailand.")

Now is definitely not the time to go anywhere near Thailand though. We had to spend the last three days of our vac frantically getting a flight out of the country. A pack of commie demonstrators took over the two major Thai airports, which has effectively frozen 90% of all travel into and out of the country. There are still something like 4,000 tourists stranded at Suvarnabhumi International waiting for something to change. Fortunately my girlyfriend has a whole network of family and friends who finagled a flight out of Chiang Mai, which required a 450-mile / 12-hour bus ride northwest - after a mad dash to the bus terminal before the Army sealed off all the streets around one of the occupied airports (near where we were staying.) Three cheers for adventure, but next time Disneyland might actually be the better option...

None of the violence was directed at foreigners though, and generally this stuff settles back to normal after a few months of frothing and raging. When it does, I can't recommend Thailand more highly, especially for Tomb Raider fanatics.

Just a sec...

KasigiYabuSama
12-01-2008, 06:57 AM
These are from Ayutthaya temple, an absolutely humongous dual complex of ruins that sits astride a roadway. We only had time to check out the south complex - the other is likely identical, but since the whole city was sacked in the late 1700s, some buildings that are destroyed at one may be intact at the other...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/KasigiYabuSama/Ayutthaya_01.jpg

This is clearly a puzzle - but after stomping on the pedestals in a dozen different combinations nothing exciting happened except some stares from strangers so I just bagged it...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/KasigiYabuSama/Ayutthaya_02.jpg

One of a bunch of pagodas...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/KasigiYabuSama/Ayutthaya_04.jpg

...and that unspecified character again...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/KasigiYabuSama/Ayutthaya_05.jpg

A cool pagoda in the corner - you can see part of the row of Buddha statues that were burned and vandalized by the invading Burmese. They ring the entire central plaza, dozens of them all in a row, but most missing pieces and all with that baked-on ash...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/KasigiYabuSama/Ayutthaya_06.jpg

I was a little surprised to find that elephant skin isn't dry and rough like tree bark like I expected, but more like a mega-soft leather handbag, only with wiry hair. Yeah, they'd make a cool pet, but only if someone else paid for their food and shoveled their poop off the front lawn.

And thanks - I already miss Thailand, all the people I met there, all the wacky idiosyncracies of it, and that phenomenal food! Including the Andrew Zimmern-type stir-fried grasshoppers!

Ok, so it's not the real thing - but aside from a little of the Vegas cheese factor, it kinda makes you wanna go back and play II, donit? (I can almost hear those windows shattering.)

The new look after I moved out of the parents' house:
http://michaelpidde.com/images/me.jpg

I ended up shaving it all off, but then missed it too much so I had to chop myself another mohawk (so the current one is shorter, but will hopefully get as big as this pic again later). I'm happy I even tried it in the first place, it ended up well and its a style I like a lot, especially keeping the sides shaved all the way down. My mom thinks I'm on crack :p

And apparently my house mates like to mess up my photos :\

Hi Catlover, and welcome to the Eidos forums. This is a forum, not an instant chat thing, so you can't expect members to reply within minutes of your post. This forum has very friendly members, you just have to take the time to get to know us, and vice versa. Just a suggestion, but maybe you want to start a thread and introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself.

Nah I thought it was much more fun to have the super-imposed pic, BH!!

That's my every day watch. I have a super expensive gold watch, very delicate, that Mum bought me for a special birthday but I rarely wear it as the catch came undone once and I almost lost my watch in the high street

But for Christmas I did get a lovely emerald-studded gold band ring. I do like my finger bling :D

Hmmm it looks like I have no eyebrows in that pic and a spot of "Paris Hilton Eye" syndrome haha!!
