View Full Version : I will not be buying Just Cause, unless...

Just finished playing the Just Cause demo on the PC.

First impressions were good. Great graphics, nice soundtrack, ran like a dream on my average spec PC.

Yeah, I really enjoyed it. Nice vehicles, fun to drive.

There was one niggle at first. The camera is too loose. It needs to be more fixed, the masses of sway made it really difficult to accurately aim and shoot. That really DOES need fixing, and would be a major put off for me.

However, there is a far more serious crime. Why on Earth can I not define my own controls? Really. Why? How ridiculous. I do NOT wish to be forced to use the buttons whoever made the game wants me to, I like to choose my own controls I feel comfortable with.

On the whole they were ok, but there were a few minor annoyances. I wanted to configure my gamepad to use to drive the cars whilst still using mouse and keys on foot like I do in the GTA series, and I did in Mafia. Not possible though, is it.

Not being able to define your own controls is possibly the biggest (and most pointless) pain in the ass in any game. It's the reason I play none of the EA sports games on my PC.

So yeah, unless that's sorted out, count me out.

EDIT : Oh, and no mouse support in the menus? Pfft. That's just laziness.

This is just a demo and I believe the full version will allow key mapping.

Well, if it does, then I'll get it!

Can't belive it would have been particularly difficult to implement for the demo though, and people would have been able to play the game more easily.

Just the camera to fix then.

This isn't the first demo to not have customizable controls. And it's guaranteed to be in the full game.

The TimeShift demo was that way...

WASD may be popular, but not everyone uses it...some of us use the arrow keys..

Eidos I hope you see these post.

Try to make a demo that is polished and fun to play in a manner that suits the most player will only increase sales. By failing to do so, you risk a speedy race to a discount bin in a store near you.

This of course is not what you want.

Let your players have more control

 game enthousiasts like to be in controll or else they'dd just watch a movie.

So a big shout out to eidos indeed game controlls should be editable,
and for the people like me who just are not comfortable with playing on a keyboard but do not wish to trade a perfect pc for a console there should be standard suport for controlers.

i know this might sound like a rant to all keyboard users but if a game is not configurable for a controller i simply do not buy it period.

so if anyone could tell me if there will be suport for game controllers besides the keyboard in the final release please tell.

"note" a big boo to eidos and other game developers that do not alow you to ask these kinds of questions directly via maill.

nothing.

Game is not made for PCs, its a console game and it doesn't even run on my PC and no feedback has been given to a possible solution.

thing is, its not just this post but i have seen many posts saying that they will not play the game if the controls are not changed...like many p[eople have said its just a demo.. it may be good controls when it comes out cos they need to make it on ps2..so they will need to make it fit wid the ps2 controler and the same wid other consoles.. it dnt really make sense.. but do u undertsand?

There is NO support for ANY controllers of any kind apart from mouse/keyboard. Not even the official Xbox360 (USB) controller which I purchased for my PC in anticipation of this game. BOOOO and HISSSS to Avalanche. Thanks to you, driving in this game sucks big time.

Yeah, it really sucks in that you can't use a control pad.

You CAN though, if you use a cool little program called Joy2Key. You run it, define what keyboard keys you want the buttons on your pad to 'be' and away you go. Works very well. Still, poor show by Eidos.
