i completely agree we need atleast 1 more awesome LOK game.
i think more people play it thwan they think however.
i mean i dont read gamer mags nor do any of my friends who love the LOK series,so i really think they need other advertising.
i had to find SR2,BO2,and Defiance all by happening to see them at freaking walmart.
we need a poll besides the one another fan posted on here because again i never went to this site till last week.
never occured to me that it would have anything except news and blah blah blah.
i mean SR and BO have been stolen from me multiple times the same # of times as castlevania :SotN and ff7 so id say its a damn good game, just most people dont buy it for one or 2 they beat it and trade it in and someone gets used copys etc..
i'll be really sad if they dont make atleast 1 more though id love them for 2 more 1 more SR type 1 more BO type.(hey i know its cheesy but i like raziels story ok :P)
something has to be done but it has to be something the goth kids who dont read gamermags, reg people who dont, and the hardcore nerds who read them will all see.
and definately need TV comercials cause ill never know if anything comes out.

raziel is dead.... but doese this mean can can use raziels powers with the reaver as it is more powerful than ever before??
ok as sick to death as i am about topics about a new lok game....:
good news:
- a kain toy is being made
- a replica of the reaver is being made
Why make merc for a franchise that is over?
bad news:
- it's been a LONG time
- LOK is largely unpopular to the masses and would need a HUGE overhaul to get it back to the standard of the series from SR1. defiance stunk of low budget (recycling the soundtrack from old games??? COME ON!) and if i wasn't such a fan i wouldn't have even known it was being released.
- it's been a REALLY long time!
- raziel is dead and kain is really ugly
- if lok gets any MORE plot twists then i think it might kick start the apocalypse

i know raziel is dead but, heres what i was thinking these guys obviously have m.night.shamalyn(sp?) jr. putting all these plot twists in,so they might as well go all out make a game where you play as the sarafan raziel. they could totally get away with 2 games if they had intentions of releasing 1 after defiance, there are too many goth kids that will buy this when they actually know its coming out*cough*advertising <yes, please>*cough*
they have the power or something.
and as for low budget defiance yes i noticed this, but i am immune due to my weird bad horror film problem.
i mean ill be the first to admit ill roll around in a pile of fangoria's,phantasm, evil dead, deathstalker, subspecies and LoK:defiance pile like scrooge rolls around in his vault of money.
hey atleast i dont deny that im fking weird.
and as for the kain toy and soul reaver replica i must have these you must keep me updated!
i kinda had a raziel toy for a bit but it was more like i stole the SR1 standee from E/B games :P
but it was still awesome then i moved out and came back to get my junk and my mom had tossed it :(
please mourn my cardboard raziel ; ;

i pitty your loss lol i dont need a remake of blood omen 1 but... with the powerfull reaver in kains hands there aint many enemies that can stand in your way and with the amount of people who want to play the 1st game, the may let you play the time period of blood omen 1 and go to the older kain what hes doing and so on (like him bringing voridor back) then when you complete this version of blood omen kain comes and kills himself causing a paradox in whic kain never was born (a fatal paradox removes the obsticle) without kain doing what he does best (killing people mainly Nemisis before he was) none of the events of the future would happen what ya think???

thats actually a pretty bad ass idea!
i'd totally enjoy playing through someything like that.
i think it would really appeal to the hardcore fans too.
i need to borrow hundreds of thousands of $ from bill gates to fund new LoK and great advertising lol.
*calls bill gates up*
and back to the "generic" subject
Eidos and CD should hire this dude,he posted this link in the lok movie forum originally i think.
but anyone this good is bound to be full of creative ideas.

i know we cant give up hope on the next legacy of kain title. lets face it its only a matter of time before it finally gets made. but im open for suggestions on how we could 'persuade' the suits upstairs to get their fingers out and deliver what the gaming world clearly needs.

Tony Jay is dead. How do you propose to make a game without him?
Just have Kain get rid of the reaver so Moe can pick it up somewhere if you need him less powerful.

yes tony jay is dead... and anyone of his vast talent would be sorely missed but remember that tony jay did not make legacy of kain what it is, he was merely part of a fantastic recipe of a fantastic gaming series. its fair to say that the future game(s) (if any) will be very different without him but that in no way means that legacy of kain is finished.stay optimistic people! we shall be rewarded :)

No, Tony Jay is not the hinge of the entire series. Simon Templeman can carry it on with nothing more than a fresh batch of talent.
As crass as it is, I'm going to say it.I thought that we would lose a vital actor before they got moving, though I admit I was thinking more along the lines of golfcart retirement.
The LOK fanbase is like the Ancient Vampires. We go away, find other fandoms, yet very few people are coming into our fold. (The handful I noticed recently were quite shocking.)
This arc is ended. It is time to distract us with something new that will also gain a fresh batch of fans.

I agree on this i mean yes TJ was a hell of a voice actor (god rest his soul) but i mean he did play numerous others in the series. I think they can probaby find someone even if the actor doesn't sound like him, at least carry the type of tone he used when doing EG's voice. and by that i mean the attitude of the EG himself.
thay could do a remake of BO..you know make it better looking..*cringes at the sight of kain's dolphin forehead!!* just realising they SHOULD remake 1 because it's obvious the double ending was messed up since he DID choose to damn the pilliars!!
or do a game for the vampire lt.'s.....or just finish the LOK series and be done with it.....or....*hyperventilates*

The double ending wasn't messed up because the game was supposed to stand alone. Soul Reaver was the creation of Eidos years later on. ;)

Actually the double ending was kind of a way to say there was a ending if they didn't make another one. (since it was supposed to come out when the Playstation was first released but was delayed about a year and some change.) but if they do(hopefully) make another one, they should just end it and move on...and stop killing us with all this anticipation:mad2: personally, i liked the gameplay of Defiance, but the story ended kinda wierd. what caught my attention is that there are now two "Heart of Darkness" one in Janos and one in young Kain. now how are they gonna fix that?

Hello all. First, I'd like to thank you for all the valuable information that has been provided in these LoK threads. I am happy to learn that I am not the only one looking for another LoK game after Defiance. I have just finished playing SR1, LoK:SR2, LoK:Blood Omen:2, and LoK:Defiance. . . in order. By my thoughts, at the end of Defiance, Kain is "purified", in a sense, and restored in his role as Balance Guardian, the Elder God is Buried, the Pillars are still destroyed, and the Lord of the Hylden is thinking that he's killed Raziel, and is looking to further his triumph (setting loose his Hylden minions?) Indeed, the Hylden Lord even states to Raziel, "and now it is finished, and thus a new epic has it's begining". This leads me to believe that the old prophecies have played out, and now a new history is being crated whose outcome is unknown.
Sounds to me like there is ample plot and story for another game. Like others, if Defiance was supposed to be the last game. . .I feel very disatisfied. In my mind, things are still not in balance. There are tasks left for Kain to fulfill. I don't buy new video games very often, but I would willingly plunk down $50-$60 for that one, good reviews or bad.
Thank you Vampmaster for CD's address, I will be sure to drop them a letter. Also, one last thought. I read in PSM last month that Eidos and CD were working on a re-make of the very 1st Tomb Raider game. Could a re-make of the 1st Blood Omen be so much more of a stretch? It could get more gamers into the LoK series, and from there, they play all the past LoK games that we all know so well and have come to cherish. All the while, giving time for Eidos and CD to create a great LoK#6 for an ever-growing fan base. I mean really, LoK Defiance came out almost 4 years ago, and there are still passionate fans of the series speaking out, myself included.
So, thanks again, and I look foreward to visiting this forum often.

The Hylden lords actual words are and thus a new EPOCH has its beginning
An epoch is another word for apocalypse.
As for the Hylden coming back, I doubt that will happen. Because Kain is now no longer corrupted by Nupraptor's madness, and that he has assumed the role of Scion, I believe the Pillars will suddenly be rejuvinated. Obviously the physical Pillars are still broken, but the magic that makes them is now strengthened.
They will select new guardians and Kain will track them down and turn them into Vampires. The Pillars will return to Vampire rule, although I still believe Kain will create an Empire with the Vampire's ruling.
I don't think that he will suddenly turn blue and sprout feathery wings. I think this representation of him looked like that because the Ancients knew one of their race would be the Scion, but didn't believe anyone of them could look so different.

Actually, an epoch is a period of time that starts with an important event.
As for the Hylden coming back, I doubt that will happen. Yeah, I think that the Pillars are purified too. I think that it's only from the SR1 era onwards, though. Kain would have to return to the SR1 time and the Pillars would be pure then, but not before since it was SR1-era Kain who was purified.
I don't think that he will suddenly turn blue and sprout feathery wings. I think this representation of him looked like that because the Ancients knew one of their race would be the Scion, but didn't believe anyone of them could look so different.
I agree :)
About the Elder God, I just don't think it would be right to cast anyone else as the voice actor. If there is another game, perhaps they could arrange it so that the Elder God only speaks to Kain through his agents, which he mentioned at the end of Defiance. That way EG wouldn't have any speaking lines (and if they need a few words during a battle they could recycle the ones from Defiance). Anyhow, I don't think that they'll redo BO1. They said in the past that they don't want to revisit their past games (I guess they don't mind remaking Tomb Raider 1 since it wasn't their game, so they themselves haven't done it before).

what caught my attention is that there are now two "Heart of Darkness" one in Janos and one in young Kain. now how are they gonna fix that?
Nothing to fix. There aren't two of them. Young Kain has a younger version of Janos' heart inside of him. The now possessed Janos has the older version from Elder Kain. That they are in the same timeline now means nothing, as it’s the same as the older version of Kain and the younger version being in the same era. Again, what's to fix?
Edit: Not sure why I am even bothering to spoiler-ize this all, as most everything talked about here in this thread has been a damn spoiler:p

ok that might be true.... but if that's the case, then why did the Soul Reaver attack Raziel ONLY after he killed himself in SR2??? so what your telling me is that there can be two Scion of Balances in the same time???
back to WhiteStar's Question: i don't think the Pillars are Purified just yet.. because if Defiance takes place before BO2, then the Hylden will come as they did in BO2. there was no reshuffling of time like in SR2 so i think everything will go according to what happened in BO2 just that Elder Kain is there. and i also think something happened to Kain at the end of BO2 because of the look in his face at the end. he just looked different. if you look at the THRYHRING's Longwinded story, i think it follows this. i don't know... maybe it's just me.

The Wraith Blade triggered the reaction somehow. Similar to how it powered up the Heart of Darkness to ressurect Janos in Defiance and how it activated those Ourobourous beacons in SR2. Perhaps when the WB tried to devour him and then history wouldn't allow it, Raziel's soul would have been caught in the Blood Reaver. As if that was the channel through which Raziels soul was being drawn in. I'm not sure exactly, but there's a couple more theories to add to the list.
The Hylden

ok that might be true.... but if that's the case, then why did the Soul Reaver attack Raziel ONLY after he killed himself in SR2???
If you listen to the monologue from Raziel, he tells you why right there. Finally far enough away from Moebius' staff (which of course implies Moe moved far away enough at that moment, or turned off the power of the orb), the Wraith Blade could manifest itself. It turns on Raziel because it needs to force him into the blade at that moment in order for itself to be created in the first place. One part destiny, one part it's own will to exist. There is a paradox that ensues becuase two versions of Raziel's soul cannot try to consume each other, or have the potential to, and as the Wraith Blade tries to force Raziel's soul -- it's own younger soul -- into the blade, Raziel's "twin souls hover both inside and outside the Reaver blade" thus causing this potential. That's far different from there being an older version of Kain and a younger in the same timeline. There's no paradox potential there because, A. Kain has no free will to kill his younger self, and, B. Kain cannot devour his own soul, or any other soul for that matter.
so what your telling me is that there can be two Scion of Balances in the same time???
There is only ever *one* Scion of Balance, one Kain. In this timeline at the end of Defiance, there is the younger Kain doing his thing and the older version of himself existing in that timeline. They aren't seperate or different, but the same being. Yes, there can be two of the same being, one older and one younger, in the same timeline. Except for Raziel with his free will and ability to Reave souls, thus potentially trying for his own, this doesn’t cause any problems with the timeline. He’s destined (Kain) to travel back in time and exist there to do whatever he does after Defiance. His younger self, also in that time, is destined to play on until the moment he becomes that older self and travels back in time. Again, there’s nothing wrong with this, nor does it need any "fixing" in a future game.

true...but in SR2, when Raziel killed each of his brothren, their souls roze into the air whereas Raziel's did not. when he stabbed himself is when his soul became trapped in the Reaver.

09-01-2006, 01:02 PM
Ok, what are you talking about? I am not referring to human Raziel's soul in my above post. It is not, obviously, a part of that whole scenario. It's left with his brothers' souls, regardless if you see it leave in the air or not.
My post discussed the differences between Raziel -- the Wraith version -- and his Wraith Blade -- his own soul -- as apposed to Kain and his Elder self. However, using this logic, the same reason human Raziel and Wraith Raziel do not conflict, though they are essentially the same being in the same timeline, is the same as why Kain and his older self can co-exist in the same timeline. My above point: that, unless the beings are possessing free will and an ability to destroy themselves, such as being reavers of souls, multiple versions of the same being from different eras can be brought to the same era without conflict, just as the heart of darkness being younger in one and older in another doesn't conflict.
Ok?
black_reign
09-03-2006, 12:25 PM
ok i see what your talking about... Raziel has the free will to kill himself(which he did.) but he couldn't devour his own soul(which wouldn't make any sense anyhow) so that's the purpose of free will. thanks.

we need the next LOK
yes, we do. But I think there won't be another LoK. The fanbase is too small I guess, maybe it wasn't sold that good (perhaps a consequence of piracy? who knows...). I think the fans gotta help themselves.
I'm working on a LoK fan game for a while now and since I have met a few people who are also working on a LoK game. One day I hope some of us might finish their work and we get our next LoK. Of course its quality won't be comparable to a official title, but at least it's a LoK game to play...:)

Crystal Dynamics, who made the LOK games, recently made the seventh Tomb Raider game (Legend). As bonus easter eggs in Legend, they included Kain's portrait in Lara's mansion and included the Soul Reaver as a secret unlockable. As far as I know, the actual franchises will remain separate. They just included some inside jokes in Legend that players of LOK would recognize.

actually what would be the ultimate LOK cliffhanger(what LOK is known for...) is that with all this messing with the timeline that Kain ends up being the one that ordered his own assassination in BO1. 12 monkeys came on a couple of nights ago and i remember Amy saying that LOK was like this and it was Bruce Willis' character that mistakenly caused the epidemic because he gave Brad Pitts' character the idea. i don't know, but it would be interesting to see if we get to see how it all ends.

Have you people ever noticed how that games that have tv commercials to advertise them more often than not sell well enough to get into the charts. Perhaps if Eidos and CD could find some money from somewhere then maybe a new LOK game would sell enough to enter the charts for once. I am aware of the huge mases of money it costs to make short commercial though. And im talking about the channels that most people watch and not some random sky channel that noone has ever hered of.
