Next Generation graphic with Geforce 6600

Hi everybody, I want to buy Nvidia Geforce 6600 but I wonder will I be able to play with the Next Generation Graphic on?:confused:

If you buy an ATI card (a modern Radeon one), you won't have any problems with Tomb Raider Legend. I think there haven't been any frame rate problems with them.

That is a very imprecise advise. Not every "modern" Radeon is powerful enough to run Legend properly.

A 7800GT will run it, but not without chop.

Then the answer is : Probably not.

I had an overclocked 7800GT and it didn't run smoothly with the nextgen turned on. It stutters and pauses (sometimes for a couple of seconds).

I now have an overclocked 7900GTX (512mb RAM remember) and it can still only just do it. The stuttering is gone but it still pauses a little now and then.

As for ATI owners having no problems, that's not what the forums are telling me. Some do, some do not. But the same seems to be true of nVidia cards, too.

My advice is : Don't buy a card specifically for Legend. It's a lot of money to pay just for one game (that only takes a few hours to play). Buy the best card you can afford and enjoy the benefits in all your games. If you have to run Legend with nextgen off, it's not the end of the world. There are a lot of bugs in the nextgen textures, anyway.

You are right it`s a lot of money and it`s not the end of the world without nextgen. on, I`m will then probably buy an MSI NX7800GT, or 6600GT.;)
