Have you shared the network connection?
Right click the LAN, go to "Properties", then go to the "Sharing" tab :)

Sorry, should've explained myself a bit better!
Do you have a router to share your interest connection?
Or are you hooking up your PS2 via your computer?
If it's the latter, on Windows, go to:
Start >> Control Panel >> Network Connections
Right click the icon for your ISP account, click Properties.
Then click the Sharing tab, and check the option to share the connection :)

Also, if your PS2 is directly connected to your computer with no device in between then you will need to buy a new cable called a crossover cable which will allow your comp to see and ocmmunicate with your ps2.
If you have a device such as a switch or router in between the two then you can use a normal network cable.
