I have played Hitman: SA and Contracts both for the xbox. I was very happy with them for xbox, and had no problems with them. Although, recently i just bought a new video card, ATI Radeon X 1600 pro, so i assumed the gameplay/graphics would be much more exciting than for the 360, and i can also save myself a few bucks. (360 price - 59.99 Pc price - 39.99) When i bought it for pc i did not notice the small letters on the bottom left of the box reading 'DVD-ROM'. I get home try to install in on my cd-rom and my computer does not read the disc. I consult the forums here, and find out that i need to buy a dvd-rom in order to install/play this game. (sigh) Sooo... i go to best buy and buy a dvd-rom, 40 bucks. I am quite the hitman fan, and the fact that i cannot return a pc game encouraged me to just buy the dvd-rom. After all the hastle, i finally get to play the game! As i am playing the game, say the 3rd level, im walking around scoping things out, and my music starts skipping and i cant move. Screen flickers a bit and i hear 'duun!' an error!!!! what the hell?!?! i paid 80$+ for a game that is fixed with bugs which can only be avoided if i sacrifice my sound quality in order to play the level?? Wow.... i shouldnt have been a tight wad and just spent a lil more for the xbox 360 version. Hope everyone that reads this, that has not yet bought the game can learn from stupid mistakes and not go through them. Good Game!

Whats the big deal? .
If you have a sound problem post about it so someone can try to help out, dont blame others because you bought a DVD game without having a DVD rom on your PC. Relax, im sure you will find a solution and in the end enjoy the game with proper controls and visual quality :) .

its not a sound problem that i have, in order to fix the crash in level 3, you have to: Start-Run-dxdiag-sound, and move the acceleration bar to 'No Acceleration'
which will protect the game from crashing on level 3 while decreasing your sound quality drastically.

dont blame others

Who did i blame???

i dont see why you would wanna play hitman on PC the controls are funky, id rather play it on ps2 cuz ps2 has a better controller than the other systems and i dont thinkl u can use controllers on the pc for hitman

Take this for example, I have played Need for Speed Underground 2 for PC, then I tried it on PS2, the PS2 controls were fine except for the fact that the steering was not near as accurate as it was on the PC. By that I mean I could move the stick and it would take a while for it to respond before the car moved making the game much harder (and frustrating), the PC version did not do this and thus making it a better gaming experience (for me). Consoles are fine, they CAN save you money but look at the Xbox 360 and PS3! They cost as much as it would to build a computer that would run games fine if not better than the consoles! You can use controllers on PC (its a PC you can do virtually anything with it kay?). It is much easier IMO to play a FPS (or in this case third person shooter (is there such a thing? lol)) on a computer, you are much less accurate with a console controller then you are with a mouse and keyboard (believe me I have tried playing halo 2, it wouldn't stop when I put the stick back in the center and it made it harder to aim very frustrating). Don't get me wrong, I have consoles but its only because there are game franchises out there and I like them so much I'm willing to buy a console just to play that game. Anyways, consoles will always be inferior (IMO) to computers (but I have to admit that the xbox 360 is dead sexy baby yeahhh).

You can customize the controls on the PC if you don't like them. I've been using basically the same control setup for all FPS games since Doom.

any game where you have to aim is far superior to play on the PC. the same game on a console has to be dumbed down in order to play.either with slower/fewer enemies or auto aim to make it so you can play with controllers, as they dont have near the reaction speeed of a mouse. so if you like your games dumbed down by all means definitly play them on a console. if your willing to practice with a mouse for a while you will find that the games are tons more fun, and you would never even think of going back to a controller unless the game just isnt available for your PC.

That is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. Dont talk unless you actually have first hand experience with a mouse and keyboard (and I mean not 10 minutes with it, I mean alot of gameplay with them). And where the hell did you get only roll playing games play well with it? Look at CS:S, BF2, UT2k4, Quake 4 etc, all those games are far superior to any xbox game (or any console game for that matter). You wouldn't last 2 seconds in those games with a game pad.

Well my first question would be how old is your PC? if it didn't have a DVD-rom in it i'm guessing it's probably over 7 years old. Unless you skimped on the extras. Most current PC's come standard with CDRW/DVD-roms now. All the X-box is a dumbed down PC anyway.

Dude my comp is like about 3-4 years old. Pretty ghetto, but i upgraded a few things here and there. I got it with 1 drive. It has a cd burner that is kinda crap, but everything else is handling fine. Pentium 4, i think its about 2.4 ghz, 512 ram, radeon x1600pro video card, 28 gigs of hardrive space (ouch! :( ) And yeahh, thats about it, if i would have known that it was a DVD-ROM only game i more than likely wouldn't have bought the game, but oh well... at least its 'runnable now.'

AH but 4 years old in computer, is like 10 human years. I know i have issues with response because of the AGP card i have but, i live with it. If it wasn't DVD it probably would take 5-7 CD's. Evercrack kingdom of sky took 7 cd's because no DVD-ROM.

all i did to get mine working was uninstall the drivers. took my graphics card, it was overheated, so i put it in the freezer for about 1 hour. it was nice and cold. i put it back in my pc, installed the basic drivers, not the full driver control centres. and hitman works perfectly on FULL settings with out ever 1 tiny eeny weeny problem!!!!

AND HITMAN RULEZ

Yeah, but it runs fine for me, not really jumpy or anything. IMO i should have just bought it for xbox though. Ive played Silent Assassin for both PC and xbox, and i do not really notice the 'dumbed downed' gaming that someone said xbox has... But then again i have some pretty sick speakers on my comp that makes it sound so much better than my mono tv  But whatever, what has happend, has happend.

The PC games industry is switching to dvd's, before long all games will come out only on DVD. This switch has already happened in europe, as I understand it. It's a huge waste of everybody's time and money putting a game on 6 or 7 cd's when it could come on one DVD. And since dvd drives cost about $30, there's no excuse not to have one anymore.
