Hi Tipperon,

Just browse this forum and you will find useful tips from people with the same prob. The movie-skip seems to happen with TDS (Thief3) also. Possible causes:

- specific DuoCore Processor models don't like older games
- software conflicts such as quicktime, windows media or other video programs, which won't let Thief play a video correctly (change file-assignment under properties/options of said video/movie-players)
- windows XP incompatibilities (do you have XP service pack 2?)
- (there are a bunch of more possible causes, which you'll find within this forum - just look around)

Please give us all the details about your rig and please confirm that your questions are about Thief 2. I bet someone here can help you out, once we know your computer configuration better.
Also we'll need to know if the actual game works, at all - or does it crash and you can't even play?

Hint: If you can still enjoy the rest of the game, you should be able to watch the in-game videos by starting them directly from the directory on your hard-drive or your CD. Just watch the clip there and return to the game.
It's not perfect - but what's perfect anyway ;-)

Saftsack.

ok good point
I have xp with service pack 2

my computer is kinda old. It runs a 750 MHz AMD Duron Processor, and runs on 8mb Nvidia TNT2 graphics (yes i know, it makes me cry)
I also have 320 or so MB of RAM

The game works perfectly it just plays no movies. No win or death videos are played either.

This is caused by an incompatibility between Indeo Codecs, which play the movies, and XP. Here is a link that explains it. Scroll down for a permanent fix.

Although fixes have been found for most issues, this is why I still use Windows 2000.

One thing you can be thankful about in your old rig. The textures and skies are displayed perfectly. I have an Nvidia 6800 GT, almost latest and greatest, and the darker textures in T1 and T2 look ugly. Lower resolution in color table. As long as you are a Thief fan and the computer works for you, hold on to that puppy! And don't install Nvidia's latest drivers, or you will lose it.
