I have recently bought tomb raider legends, had no problems with installation but when i came to actually trying to play the game it would take ages to load and then a secuRom error came up saying that it cannot authenticate the original disk, and yes i am using the original disk unless Eidos have been sending out illeagally burnt game disks. Does anyone know of a fix for this be it drivers for my phillips DVD/RW combo drive or a fix for secuRom

Hi there
Our own folks have reported this a LOT. If you are in Europe, you may be able to download the Eidos patch which *may* solve the problem. However, Eidos are working with SecureROM on a second patch, so hang in there.
I'll have a browse through our own tech pages for alternative methods.

Right. Have a peek here (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=61028) and here (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=61642).
In those threads, you will see a workaround, but I should state that you will modify your own files at your own risk. This advice also assumes you are in possession of a legal copy of Legend, which you say you are.
I personally would advise holding out for the new patch, but if you are desperate to play the game, give this a whirl.
Also, as a last piece of advice, try installing the DEMO first, then uninstalling the demo and then installing the full version. This also installs SecuROM on your PC, and might do the trick.
Good luck there!

And surely if i do modify the files and it goes wrong i can just uninstall and reinstall the game and it should reset the files right???

No. SecuROM doesn't work that way. It's installed as a service and remains there even when you uninstall Legend, which I why I suggested installing the demo also, which could kick-start the protection system, if indeed that's where the problem lays.
