Okay not strictly a problem with the game but i have no idea where to find technical info so hoping one of you wizards can help me. shortly after i bought trl i decided i wanted to upgrade to 2gb of ram so i bought 2X 1gb pc3200 400mhz ddr. i slapped the sticks into my machine and when i pressed the on switch i get this bizzarre beeping noise and my pc doesnt boot up. after much fiddling i realised that i can get my system to boot up and run with 1 of the dimms installed but not with both in and not with the second stick on its own(however i can occasionally get the system to boot with both sticks installed but windows crashes before the welcome screen and my pc restarts itself instantly, 2gb of ram is detected in the bios). my system is as follows

2.53ghz pentium 4
asrock pv88+ mobo
soundblaster live 24bit soundcard
geforce fx5900 graphics card
(using the single dimm i can get workin at the moment)

Please give me some advice on what has gone wrong here guys.
Lots of thanks, Jak

How many slots for RAM does your motherboard have? If you have more than 2 slots, check the manual for information on how to place the sticks.

Are those RAM sticks of the same size and brand? Some boards do not like mixed RAM.

Well, your board supports dual channel. Have you tried different combinations slots? For dual channel: both blue or both black. Without dual channel: black + blue. It can also be that one stick is simply broken.

On a separate note, I also own Asrock board since recently. I must say that I had most difficult time securing the dimms in place. Just had to use surprising amount of force to snap them in place.

As has been suggested, one stick may be broken.
If you are able to boot past the bios, try to run memtest to see if there are any errors http://www.memtest86.com/
If one stick doesn't boot while installed alone, then it is likely faulty.

I thought I was going to break mine when I first installed the RAM upgrade. But imagine having to take it out....:nut:

This board not only requires identicle Dimms for dual channel. But also requires certain slots,in order to work. You must use either slot 1 & 3 , or slot 2 & 4.

I have tried all different combinations such as both in blue, both in black or one in each etc.. both dimms are identical brand and size and speed. occasionally my system will boot up and in the bios 2gb of ram registers but the pc resets before it gets to the "welcome" screen of windows. other times my pc doesnt boot at all and i get a beeping sound from my computer.

Possibly you have a bad module. Try booting up with just one dimm and then the other. Make sure they are properly seated in the mobo.

I think it is possible that one dimm is faulty but both dimms do actually register in the bios, its just i can only get the system to run with one in and not the other or both at the same time.
