Help with Amanda's Creature - getting sword

I've followed the walkthough and the video guide to get the sword fragment, but I still can't.

I activated the four switches.
I pushed all four of the blue orbs until they formed the blue wall of light.
I don't try to kill or harm the monster because I know I can't?

The monster comes after me and knocks me off the machine but usually it's when I'm doine knocking the orbs in place anyway. My problem is... I can't grapple the sword! When I try to lock on the target using L3 (PS2), I just end up being knocked over by the creature.

According to the video and guide, it seems like I just get off when I'm done pushing the orbs in place and press 'Square' yet this does absolutely nothing.

Any suggestions?

I had huge problems grappling the sword as well......it got very frustrating because I couldn't get her to throw the grapple in the right direction. I found that running around the arena while dodging the creature helped distracting it a bit. Also you can use the Tesla gun to shoot that thing......this should stall it, but only for a very short moment though. Try moving barely outside the glass floor surrounding the gun, have Lara face up towards the middle and throw the grapple.
This should work well, at least that's what did it for me;)

Strange thing. I found that as long as I could see the sword fragment on the screen it didn't matter which direct lara was facing or how far away she was the grapple worked. However, sometimes you have to send it three or four times.

hey, im new here but i think this will help anyone stuck with the monster.
basically u can harm the monster to the point where his energy level is almost nil.
use the gun like u did earlier to kill the men but pressing L1 to trap the monster in the magnetism, then slowly drag him into the middle of the electric current. the current runs between two poles and ther seems to be something that looks like a target in the centre. if u release him now by pressing R1 (i still held down L1 to stop him escaping) he should be fired into the current and this will almost kill him.

he dissapears to regenerate.
this will give u enough time to grapple the sword and pull it down.
(obv do this after u hv connected the entire circuit to release the shield around the sword).
