Ok, here is a thread about my school project for greek mythology. I'm doing it on TRLE, making a 1-room "temple" for 7 gods and godesses, and one huge area for Mount Olympus. This is for an "artistic representation" of the greek myths we've been reading. If you have a suggestion on something I might want to use or add, please, please post it, because I really want to get a good grade on this. Here is a brief explanation of the project:

We have to make something visual, and at first I was going to create a few temples, and print out pictures to make a poster. My brother said that would be boring, why not bring the LE into school and play the level on the library's projector? The whole class could see my 3D representation of Greek Mythology. My teacher agreed to this when I asked her today. The project is due on October 4th, so any suggestions or comments for the project would be greatfully accepted.

The level starts out in Poseidon's Temple, filled with waterfalls and clay pots, harps and paintings. You progress through Hades's Temple, Zeus's Temple, Haphaestus, Athena, Aphrodite, and Apollo before reaching Mount Olympus. This level is only about 10-15 rooms and will not be released unless someone really wants to play it.

Basically how I made this was take the god's traits and powers, and use them to come up with a room that reflects their personality. For example, Poseidon is Lord of the Sea, so his room is full of water. I used objects from TR levels to make each god, be it an enemy or statue. I used the TRLR Poseidon statue for Poseidon, etc. Lighting is key when making this stuff.

Any suggestions? Comments? Anything?

I would appreciate any greek/roman textures or objects you could scrounge up for me. :) Thanks!

I love Greek mythology and the level sounds an ace Idea

I was thinking about your Temples will they be in the city or Like actual places Like The Underword for Hades or Mount Oyimpus for Zeuz?
What about quest "offerings" Lara could get objects like Food for Demeter a Heart for Aphrotite, a ThunderBolt for Zeus a Bone for Hades etc and she could save the world from an apocolypse (like the Egyptian Gods LOL)

Glad you're liking it :D

This level itself is for school only, but it's looking excellent, so when this seperate level is finished, (and peru and all my other planned projects) I will make a level based on greek mythology, and your ideas for offerings are really good! If I can get stuff like a lightning bolt for puzzle items, that idea would be perfect! But since this project is just for school, I don't think puzzles would be good, I just need a simple walk through the level explaining whose temple is whose, and what's the significance. The presentation would take forever if this were a real level.

The locations are mostly just random temples, except for Hades, who is in fact in the underworld, and Haphaestus who is in his cave where he grew up, underwater. The rest are just in any old temple that looks like they belong in it. Most of the rooms have scattered objects, like broken post and fallen pillars. :)

Here's the rules of the game. I made it up while talking to Kurtis on MSN. I got a little bored (no offense) so I started to see what different keys did in the forum. I hit spacce and found out it did the same as pagedown. So for roughly five minutes I kept hitting the two..... I was having so much fun! Then I thought that I should turn it into a game, so after hitting the two buttons a random number of times I looked to see who the poster was at the top of the page. Whoever made it to 10 points won. I got Kurtis to play (who was quite skeptical at first) but then he had a great time playing the game as well. C5 came on shortly there after, so me and Kurtis taught him how to.

Hephaestus - Son of Zeus and Hera; the smith god. Lord of artificers, patron of crafts. This most industrious of the gods had a troubled childhood...............(basically Hera hated him because he was born ugly, so she tossed him into the sea. adopted by the sea nymph [not to be confused with a nympho! lol] Thetis)Because his adopted mother cared and loved for him so, he made living jewels of the ocean, which we know now as tropical fish. (so, maybe something with fish then??)
-husband of Aphrodite
workshop is in Mt. Aetna, Sicily, where he forged thunderbolts for Zeus and weapons for special heros.
-his apprentices were Cyclopes (maybe a Cyclopes enemy type thing exists somewhere?)

Athena - daughter of Zeus, and goddess of Wisdom. Zeus ate her mother, and then she was born when Hephaestus split open Zeus's head. She is the patron goddess of Athens. Depicted as always wearing a helmet and breastplate, and carrying a lance and shield.
-taught men to plough, use the spinning wheel, and the sail.
-scholars prayed to her for enlightenment, inventors for inspiration, and judges for clarity and fairmindedness (so maybe have what looks like a courthouse, simliar to what was in St. Frances's Folly)
-the olive tree was sacred to her, as was the owl. (so put in a few rows of trees, call them olive trees, and maybe get an owl noise, and find an owl if it exists)

Apollo- the sun god. Patron of medicine, music, poetry, mathematics and prophecy. (so I'm thinkin maybe use the harp from TR1, or whichever TR had the best looking harp, and maybe put in a cave and call it the Oracle of Delphi lol)
-his first act was to hunt down the Python (so use maybe the cobras from TR3
-drove the golden chariot of the sun led by fiery stallions across the sky each day (and maybe you could find the golden horse enemies that people have used in their custom levels)

Aphrodite - goddess of love
-born from the foam of the sea and the blood of her father Uranus when his body was thrown into the sea (so, you could possibly start out this room w/ Lara in the water, and somehow maybe the water have a reddish-hue, so it'd be like the birth of Aphrodite)
-wherever she walked flowers bloomed and birds circled
-wife of Hephaestus
-mother of Eros (Cupid in Roman Myth), Phobos (Fear) and Harmonia, mother of the Amazons
-the apple, rose, myrtle, and dove are sacred to her

For Zeus, obivous the king of the gods.
-the oak tree and the eagle are sacred to him
-appeared in many forms, a swan, a partridge, a shower of gold, a bull

Poseidon - sounds as though you have your own ideas already, but here's one that might be a good addition,
-he was often referred to as the earth-shaker (so maybe you could end the Poseidon temple with an earth-quake)

Sure :) I have way too many ideas to control, for stories of levels, locations etc. but when I really get into the level, I run out of ideas extremely quickly :D

Especially if it's for plots/storylines. lol Can make anything in the end turn out completely different than what you expected. Always good to keep those curves balls coming and keep everyone on their toes. :p
